Searching for the relevancy of the WHY behind today's cultural ideas
This week on Viral Inquiry, we discuss why arguments built as the "Anti" of something like, "Anti-socialism," "Anti-racism," Anti anything actually works against the point you are trying to make. When we argue for what we are against and dont telegraph towards a better alternative, it shows our lack of knowledge and persuasion and will actually cause people to not take certain ideas seriously.
2020 was a breaking point for the Church here in America. In 2020 we decided it would be best to stay out of the national discourse and accept the "non essential" status given to us by our government officials. Was this a mistake? How will the public life suffer as a result? Where do we go from here if the ship is sinking? This week on Viral Inquiry we kick off a new 2021 season and introduce a strategy and a powerful tactic that will help the church in the culture war we have lost.
Depending on the outcome of the election, you may now be persecuted for your previous support of Donald Trump. Suddenly the establishment left becomes a fan of history, when it suits them that is, and we discuss how to be prepared for what may happen if we decide as individuals to be loyal to the truth in the next possible administration. We dive into all that plus two articles that push the big idea further and finally, a book critique.
If 2020 thus far has shown us anything, it's that the left's usage of means to an end are never justified and often leave the American people hurting more. The question is often raised then, "how far should we be willing to go to achieve a desired end and to what costs?" I propose that the saying, “The ends justify the means,” falls to short and it itself is not justified in being used as an excuse. Instead I suggest this week that the means must be justified themselves and produce a good and just end. We talk through that plus two articles to emphasize the point and a book review.
This week we had the judicial hearings for Amy Coney Barrett and several attempts, many attempts actually, like way too many attempts to try and invoke a reaction from the judicial nominee by the democratic senate members and it turns out there is wisdom in being slow to speak and choosing words carefully and honestly. There is actually a lesson or two to learn from this week's hearings when contrasted to the tactics of the Lefts militia arm known as BLM. We dive into two articles that further push the point that words are powerful and have meaning. Yes, that means they don't exist in a vacuum and have real consequences, and a finally, a book critique.
Iron Mike destroys the oppressed Kamala Harris while “man-splaining" all over the floor, a fly finds a cozy spot on Mike's head to rest its feet and Trump is guilty of packing the courts with all white men. Yes, Trump packed the courts and didn't include a single black person. Kamala Harris isn't happy. All of that plus two articles and a book recommendation.
The basic talking points regarding homophobia, transphobia, Islamaphobia, anti-semitism, mysogynisitic, just to name a few, have become so tiresome and exhausting. But I think the over usage of these words and others should cause us to think about something deeper. If you believe Christianity is true, it fundamentally gives us a starting point that can be used to actually create unity through disagreement rather than a club by those who seek to destroy the values that built this country. All that plus a couple of articles we can look into that push the point further and a book recommendation.
Today on Viral inquiry I give you some of my thoughts as a Christian conservative, why it might be uncomfortable to publicly state your beliefs and why it is imperative we speak up about the truth, especially now days more than ever. Ibram X Kendi gets paid $20,000 just for re-stating the same talking points that my 6 year old cousin can babble on about and 3 people get arrested in Idaho after attending an outdoor church services for not wearing masks.
In the 21st Century the one thing we lack greatly, which has lead to the demise of unity in America, is forgiveness. This is largely due to the fact that we have blurred the need for an objective reference point in where we find redemption. This week on Viral Inquiry we will dive deeper into why Cancel culture exists, its origins and why we have grown accustomed to blaming each other for our faults. Please give a 5 star rating and leave a review!
What is the one strategy that can be used to diffuse any argument but can also be used to shift the burden of proof back on to the people making the claim? This week we talk about the best tactical approach and strategy that every free thinker should be using and practicing to engage others of a hostile or differing worldview.
This week we prime the discussion for strategies on how to think for yourself and how to train to defend your ideas so they can hold up to public scrutiny and what kind of resources to start with to begin sharpening you tactics in the public sphere.
Just after finishing Donald Trump's final speech of the RNC I was left with this very controversial thought that maybe deserves a lot more attention and dignity of thought. Join me on this bonus episode to discuss the trajectory of the republican party and what this past week just might mean for the future of America. Host: Stephen De Los Rios
In this episode we breakdown the importance of the words Equal and Life found in the Declaration of Independence. Two words you can't help but think about after watching the boring and depressing infomercial that was the DNC. Host: Stephen De Los Rios
