A market crash is one of the scariest moments for a retiree. However, history shows that these moments, while scary, do not cause financial ruin.   In our second episode, host Jason Siperstein and co-host Paul McDermott are joined by Justin Fitzpatrick. Justin is co-founder and chief innovation officer of Income Lab, the only firm that provides dynamic—not static—retirement income software. Before co-founding the firm, Justin worked for 10 years in financial services, leading teams in advanced financial planning and portfolio strategy, managing development of financial technology tools, and designing and executing strategies to enter new markets. Before that he spent seven years in academia, teaching at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Harvard University; Queen Mary, University of London; and the University of California, Los Angeles.   Listen to Jason, Paul, and Justin as they discuss the importance of “dynamic” retirement planning.   Key Takeaways: •        Historically quick market crashes have not spelled catastrophe for retirees •        Have a plan for change if markets do worse (or better) than expected •        Retirement unfolds slowly allowing us time to adjust when needed

Welcome to the first episode of the “Worry Less, Retire More” podcast!  Our goal is to provide relevant and practical tips on planning for and living in retirement. In each episode, we hope to achieve this by talking about a different retirement-related topic such as sustainable spending, tax reduction strategies, Social Security claiming, and more. In our premier episode, your host, Jason Siperstein, President of Eliot Rose Wealth Management, with his cohost, Paul McDermott, Director of Retirement, talks about the 4% rule in retirement.  Let's face it; there are a lot of “rules” to follow when one retires. And it's no easy task to separate the ones worth following from the ones to ignore.  Join Jason and Paul as they cover everything you need to know about the 4% rule – from its creation to what it aims to solve. Most importantly, they go deeper and discuss the right way to interpret this standard. Topics Discussed: What is the 4% rule? The (many) issues with the 4% rule What is static financial planning, and does it work? A preview of our Sustainable Spending Analyzer® (SSA)  Closing Quote: “Everyone has a unique set of circumstances, a unique plan, and the market environment is constantly changing.” Links: Eliot Rose Wealth Management https://www.eliotrose.com/
