PSA just announced massive extensions to their turnaround times, sparking fears that the grading giant might be forced to shut down its value tiers—a move that historically preceded a major card market decline in 2021. Today, we break down PSA's staggering $200 million expansion plan and ask the ultimate question: If PSA halts submissions again, will the entire sports card market crash?Alongside the PSA grading crisis, we are tackling the most polarizing topics in the hobby right now. We discuss a controversial new card show policy that completely bans the sale of retail sealed wax to combat flippers, analyze Victor Wembanyama's explosive market surge after taking Game 1 from the Thunder, and debate whether "eye appeal" grading designations actually add financial value to modern 1/1 sports cards. In this episode, we cover:The PSA Grading Crisis: Why PSA drastically shifted Value Bulk turnaround times to 140–160 business days and increased submission minimums to 50 cards. We analyze whether Collectors' massive $200 million investment (adding 800,000 sq ft. and 1,000 new jobs) will be enough to prevent a total service pause.Banning Retail Flippers: Maryland's Feel Good Gaming Show recently banned vendors and attendees from buying and selling current retail sealed wax. We debate if this is a brilliant move to save the show experience, or if it misses the mark entirely—and whether sports card shows should adopt it.Wemby's Market Explosion: Victor Wembanyama's card market is up 85% year-over-year with nearly 1,000 sales a day. Following massive $500K+ sales for his National Treasures Logoman 1/1 and Revolution Green Kaboom 1/1, we discuss if he is officially overtaking Shohei Ohtani as the face of the modern hobby. The Modern "Eye Appeal" Debate: Does an MBA Gold eye-appeal sticker actually matter on a 1/1 modern card? We break down the $838,750 Heritage auction sale of the 2013 Bowman Chrome Aaron Judge Superfractor and discuss if the hobby is thinking about eye appeal all wrong.Dive into the data and join the conversation in the comments section with your take on PSA's new turnaround times and Wembanyama's historic market run.First time customers use promo code: SCI at ArenaClub.comShop CardsHQ Inventory Online ►: https://bit.ly/cardshqTrack card prices & your collection with Market Movers ►: https://bit.ly/marketmoversappJoin CardsHQ Breaks on Whatnot ►: https://bit.ly/cardshqbreaksJoin CardsHQ Shop on Whatnot ►: https://bit.ly/cardshqshopJoin CardsHQ Blitz on Whatnot ►: https://bit.ly/cardshqblitzJoin CardsHQ Hoops on Whatnot ►: https://bit.ly/cardshqhoopsJoin CardsHQ Poke on Whatnot ►: https://bit.ly/cardshqpokeDiscounted PSA/SGC Card Grading ►: https://bit.ly/gradingserviceDownload our Apps!SCI App (Apple) ►: https://apple.co/3riGbb5SCI App (Google) ►: https://bit.ly/SCIAPPGooglePlayFollow Us:SCI Instagram ►: https://bit.ly/SCIIGSCI Twitter ►: https://bit.ly/scitweetsSCI Facebook ►: https://bit.ly/FBSCIPageGeoff's IG ►: https://bit.ly/itsgeoffwilsonGeoff's YouTube ►: https://bit.ly/ytgeoffCard Crew YouTube ►: https://bit.ly/cardcrewMarket Movers YouTube ►: https://bit.ly/marketmoversyt

David McKnight addresses one of the biggest threats to your retirement plan: sequence of returns risk. Are you retired or within 10 years of retirement? Sequence of returns risk may be the single most important concept you need to understand if you want to ensure your money lasts as long as you do. Sequence of returns risk refers to the danger of experiencing a market downturn early in retirement while you're simultaneously taking withdrawals from your portfolio. David explains why this risk is most dangerous during your first 10 years of retirement. Early in retirement, your money still needs to last 20 to 30 years – an early blow to your portfolio can significantly impact its ability to do so. To defend yourself in the most dangerous decade of retirement, you need an account that allows you to avoid touching your stock portfolio until the market has recovered. The reason for that is that, historically, most market downturns take 3-5 years to recover back to their previous peak. David discusses the 4% Rule and the "catch" that comes along with it. Some experts, like Suze Orman, recommend having 3-5 years' worth of expenses accumulated in an emergency fund. David goes over why it may not be a good idea. David brings Indexed Universal Life insurance (IUL) and the concept of volatility buffer into the conversation. Remember: if you're within 10 years of retirement, now is the time to start thinking seriously about how you'll create a volatility buffer. The first quarter of 2026 was not just a collection of headlines. It was a definitive "hard reset" for the global workforce, marking the moment where the gap between legacy systems and the new AI-driven reality finally collapsed. In this episode of Future Ready Leadership, we're revisiting the top stories that made it to our Best of the First Quarter edition. We start with the trillion-dollar software sell-off, where the market's reaction to AI-driven workflows signaled a massive shift from humans performing manual tasks to supervising automated systems. This move toward radical accountability is further exemplified by Citigroup's declaration of the end of the "effort era," as CEO Jane Fraser mandated that employees be judged solely on measurable results rather than visible busy work. We then examine Amazon's internal talent mobility strategy, which reframes automation-related job changes as an opportunity for redeployment by giving staff 90 days to find new internal roles. This leads into a discussion on the reset of the HR technology operating model, as boards begin to question the value of traditional seat-based licensing now that AI is becoming the primary interface for data. Finally, we analyze Accenture's decision to tie promotions to AI usage, highlighting the need for a "human judgment receipt" to ensure leaders are rewarding actual performance improvement rather than mere "corporate theater". In this episode of the Wise Investor Segment, host Matty A breaks down the silent killer that destroys more wealth than bad deals and bad markets combined: ego.Through the tale of two contrasting investors during the 2008 financial crash, Matty A reveals why the individuals who survived and thrived weren't necessarily the smartest or most well-connected. The true survivors were those willing to check their egos at the door, downsize their lifestyle, cut overhead, and get liquid early before they were forced to do so .What We Cover:The 2008 Reality Check: The story of "Mike and Dave" and how the inability to downsize an identity led to bankruptcy for flashier investors .Hidden Wealth: Insights from Morgan Housel's The Psychology of Money on why spending money to show people how much you have is the fastest way to have less money .The Danger of Stubbornness: Why intelligent and successful people often hold onto losing investments for too long because selling at a loss feels like admitting a mistake.Strategic Defense: Why shifting strategies, getting lean, and quietly shoring up positions is the key to playing the long game and being ready to strike when others are fearful .Episode Sponsored By:Discover Financial Millionaire Mindcast Shop: Buy the Rich Life Planner and Get the Wealth-Building Bundle for FREE! WAR… and no market crash… Are we in a bear market or a bull market? Rapidly shifting narratives, once centered on a soft landing, rate cuts, and strong consumers, have been disrupted by war, oil volatility, and weakening economic data, creating widespread uncertainty and "busted brackets" for investors. Markets are behaving irrationally, often reacting more to expectations and propaganda than clear fundamentals, making prediction unreliable and reinforcing the importance of scenario-based thinking rather than conviction. There will either be a quick end to the conflict that could drive lower oil, falling rates, and a rebound in bonds and staples, or a prolonged war leading to higher inflation, economic strain, and limited upside across most assets. With elevated correlations, fragile financial systems, and a stalled market that has gone largely sideways, traditional diversification may not provide protection. The key takeaway is caution and avoiding emotional decisions! As always, adaptability and risk management matter more than trying to predict outcomes in a highly unstable environment. We discuss... Markets are behaving like March Madness, with unpredictability, momentum shifts, and broken narratives replacing earlier optimism around a soft landing. Geopolitical conflict and unclear information flows are driving volatility, making it difficult to distinguish truth from market-moving narratives. The market appears to be pricing in a short-lived conflict, despite ongoing uncertainty and mixed signals. Traditional diversification is less reliable as correlations between stocks and bonds have increased in recent years. Energy has emerged as the primary outperformer, while most other sectors struggle amid rising costs and uncertainty. Financial system risks are building, particularly in private credit and banking exposure, signaling potential stress beneath the surface. Consumer strength is weakening as higher costs and debt begin to pressure spending behavior. Housing remains a major concern, with rising supply and weak demand due to elevated mortgage rates. Market movements often contradict headlines, reinforcing the need to observe price action rather than rely on media narratives. "Buy the dip" strategies are risky in uncertain or potentially bearish environments. Sitting in cash or staying defensive can be a strategic choice when market direction is unclear. Predictions from Wall Street are often overly optimistic and fail to account for downside risks. Volatility and confusion in markets are often the result of mispriced uncertainty rather than clear economic deterioration. Successful investing in this environment requires adaptability, patience, and disciplined risk management rather than bold predictions. Harrison Wright built his recruitment business to nearly $400,000 in billings within six months. Then the market turned. Hiring froze. Searches disappeared. For six months, nothing came in while he was burning $30,000 a month to stay afloat. Most recruiters would respond by doing more. More calls. More CVs. More pressure. He did exactly that. It didn't work. Harrison is the founder of The Blockchain Recruiter, a search firm specialising in crypto and Web3 talent. After the crash, he rebuilt the business around retained search, tighter positioning, and a more deliberate recruitment process. Today, he runs a retained model with an interview-to-placement ratio of 2.16 to 1 and has won clients worth more than $350,000 in lifetime value through inbound alone. After shifting into institutional crypto, he's on track for $1.2M to $1.6M in 2025, despite a difficult market. This conversation gets into what actually changed. Why he treats recruitment as a sales process. Why he doesn't pitch the job on the first call. And how doing more work upfront changes what happens at offer stage. In this episode: Why more activity doesn't fix a broken recruitment model How Harrison qualifies candidates before a CV ever gets sent The thinking behind a 2.16-to-1 interview-to-placement ratio Why he avoids pitching the job early in the process How positioning led to higher-value retained clients The shift into institutional crypto and why it changed his pipeline What most recruiters get wrong about delivery Episode highlights: [1:06] From zero to $400K in six months [1:21] The crash: no revenue and $30K monthly burn [13:17] The 2.16-to-1 interview-to-placement ratio [15:14] The 90-minute candidate interview [21:37] Why pitching first creates problems later [49:10] The institutional crypto pivot [1:00:46] What a retained proposal looks like About Harrison Wright Harrison Wright is the founder of The Blockchain Recruiter, one of the OG search firms in crypto and Web3. Most people treat dating like a lottery; swipe, hope, repeat. Jonathan Aslay lost $2 million, his marriage, and his son. What saved him wasn't positive thinking. It was asking one brutal question: "What happened in your marriage?" Not to judge. To observe. Because how someone talks about their ex reveals everything about their emotional maturity. Self-love isn't bubble baths and affirmations. It's having the spine to walk away from someone hot but emotionally stunted. It's recognizing that your body screams "yes" while your values whisper "run." Chemistry is a drug. Compatibility is architecture. Most relationships fail because people confuse the two. You'll learn: The exact question that exposes emotional immaturity in 30 seconds Why chemistry without shared values guarantees failure How to interview dates without sounding like HR (and why you should) Stop wasting months on people who were wrong from day three. Markets are selling off across the board as stocks, bonds, and the dollar all fall together, signaling something bigger than a routine drawdown. This episode unpacks why the latest crash feels like a true regime shift, tying together the Japanese bond market shock, escalating trade and geopolitical conflict, and explicit declarations from global leaders that the post–Cold War rules-based order is breaking down. From Greenland to Davos to Tokyo, the common thread is uncertainty about what comes next—and what it means for risk assets, rates, and the global financial system. Enjoying this content?
