POPULARITY
The times that I've made the least progress on writing was when I was trying to do it on the side or as a hobby. This isn't because of the relative amount of time I devoted to it. It was because I treated it as something I would try to fit in, and it never did. I could always find something else to do. Links: Writing Practice (podcast by Aliya S. "I don't want to learn as I go. I want to learn...and then go!" For Aliya S King, the word "entrepreneur" was always a scary, foreign thing. Ten years later, now a New York Times bestselling author and writer of award winning features, she realized it's also her business. Aliya S. King N.Y. Times Best Selling Author, Aliya took time away from penning music mogul Timbaland's memoirs to share with us how a celebrity interview paved the way to a career as a novelist and how her time with Faith Evans forever changed the way she thinks of the day that Notorious B.I.G. was murdered. Find out what my connection is to Frank Lucas and why I never went to see "American Gangster" - the film that Aliya's second book was based on. Aliya also discusses the Vibe magazine article that lead to the penning of her first novel, the recently released "Platinum" - a fictional depiction of the wives of Hip Hop's largest superstars.
