Today I'm joined by my good buddy Dr. Bronson Strickland of Mississippi State University Deer Lab. Dr. Strickland and his team are always performing whitetail research to better understand their worlds - in today's episode we're diving into scrape research. What I like most about talking with Dr. Strickland is he can articulate things we may see as hunters but not fully understand. While keeping facts at the forefront, shedding light on hunting myths or adding validity to hunter observation. As a hunter and a deer biologist, he's well positioned to understand the desires of hunters, while taking an scientific approach to understanding the animals we love to chase. - thanks for listening. Today I'm joined by my buddy Dan Tutor. Dan hunts the islands off the coast of Maine. I've always had an interest in island hunting but two things that held me back was …water access via the sea/bay (seems dicey and borderline stupid for someone who didn't grow up around the ocean) and giving up a mid west hunt to hunt the north east where they're not known for great whitetail hunting (compared to the midwest). Well…I still may not have my sea legs, but Dan has hauled in a few deer that put to rest any concerns of the caliber of bucks you can find on the islands. I hope you all dig this session as much as I did…I think I might be an Island hunter in the future! To listen to the podcast click the purple play button at the top of the page. We always strive to bring you relevant information about topics that can help the students in your life get the very most out of their educational experience. Today's show focuses on dyscalculia, a common math struggle for many students. Join us to learn more from today's expert guest!Dr. Sandra Elliott began her career as an educator at a time when most students with disabilities were still in institutions, following a system in total opposition to inclusive education. She has had a front-row view of the many changes that have occurred in American education. As a teacher on various levels and a principal, Dr. Elliott has worked with curriculum developers around mathematics. She is currently the Chief Academic Officer at TouchMath, a 48-year-old multisensory math program focusing on special education and all students who struggle with math. Show Highlights:A basic definition and explanation of dyscalculia: Dyscalculia is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts numerical reasoning, can be seen as early at three years of age, is not an intellectual disability, and is not curable. Why dyslexia has been more widely recognized and addressed than dyscalculiaHow math problem-solving skills are just as critical to student development as reading but are often left behind in the push for literacyWhy screening tools for dyscalculia are more difficult to find and useHow parents can begin to identify dyscalculia as early as 3-4 years oldHow screening, intervention, and hard work can turn around any student with math difficultiesLinks/Resources:Connect with Dr. Elliott and TouchMath: Website (Find a free dyscalculia screening tool, blog, resources, and much more!)Contact us on social media or through our website for more information on the IEP Learning Center, and send us your questions for Nadia Bennett for a future episode: www.inclusiveeducationproject.org Thank you for listening! Today I'm joined by my buddy Chris Derrick. Anytime Chris is on you can count on two things…A season is just about to open. And Sitka Gear has recently dropped brand new kit advancing their already bullet proof systems. Over time Sitka has continued to evolve their systems including different applications of Merino Wool. As awesome as Merino wool is for base layers, in its natural form it may not be the best material for outer layers until now. As always Sitka delivering on the needs of the hunter with in-field usability, stealth, and a new approach to merino able to withstand the abuse of grueling hunts season after season …hope you all dig the session it as much as I did. We are officially counting down to our 10th anniversary of the show with an episode landing on August 31st 2023. Marking this milestone and at the behest of you dear dear listeners, we are dropping an episode every day with the theme being my Top 10 Favourite Horror movies of All Time (or at least until I change them again on September 1st 2023). At Number 4 it's one of the all times greats by one of the all time greats. Whilst it's not my favourite film in this directors filmography, when it comes to all time favourite horror movies it's hard to argue that SUSPIRIA (1977) is just a completely different level in the genre. Vivid, dreamlike and with a score to die for, Dario Argento moved over from Giallo into the world of fairytale and witchcraft with an ease that showed he really was the maestro of modern horror in the 1970's. SUSPIRIA stands a head a shoulders above most witchcraft movies and looks as good in 2023 as it did back 1977. Join me tomorrow as we take a look at Number 3 on the list. At Number 5 it's my love of the serial killer that makes this pick very close to my heart. Not many movies can boast not 1…but 2 of the greatest on screen serial killers in the same movie (sorry Freddy VS Jason) and still manage to deliver Oscar winning performances, incredible direction, classic score and maybe the most overlooked final girl in the genre. My number 5 picks is The Silence of the Lambs (1991). Join me tomorrow as we take a look at Number 4 on the list. Today I'm joined by my buddy Mario Trafficante. Mario and I met and realized we had way more in common than our passion for bowhunting. We both recognize the larger patterns in our lives that complement each other, drives our passion, our curiosity, and at times creativity. If you allow it, hunting can enrich your life beyond the tree stand. And the same can be said that anything you're passionate about can positively influence your hunting. Like most things in life, mindset and how you process the world around you is everything. Mario is not just a great hunter, but he gets it…the pursuit of experiences, the quest for knowledge, to make him a better hunter…but ultimately a better human. One of my favorite conversations in recent memory…hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. To listen to the podcast click the purple play button at the top of the page.
