"Dear Mamas, yesterday was my daughter's birthday and I posted a sweet tribute to my little girl. I sent my husband an adorable picture of them and told him it really would be a sweet gesture if he posted something about her on his Facebook page. She came home, threw her arms around her daddy's neck and told him how much that picture and tribute meant to her and how much she loves him and what he has meant in her life... Yeah yeah. I got nothing. Why does it feel like we moms are the only ones to capture sweet candid moments between our children and their father? Why don't they think about capturing these moments of us moms with our children! This drives me nuts!"We took this oh so very relatable listener submission to our American Mamas, Teri and Denise, on Friday's "What Would Mama Do?" and got their thoughts, and a few personal anecdotes, as well. Take a listen.

"Dear Mamas, sometimes being a mom is really, really hard. My daughter is going through a break up, and my heart is breaking for her, and I’m mad at the ex-boyfriend, but I don’t know what to say. I want to make things better, but I’m pretty sure what I really want to say will just make things worse. What advice would you give to your daughter who’s struggling through something like this?"We had a great talk with Mama Teri on Friday's "What Would Mama Do?" about why a breakup can be a blessing in disguise, and got her advice on how to handle heartbreak with grace and confidence."What Would Mama Do?" is sponsored by Moor Coffee Company, and airs every weeknight on American Ground Radio.

"Dear Mamas, There has been much talk about this generation of children being among the most entitled and self-important of any before it. What do you suppose is the reason or problem for this? Is it us, parents? Social media? Media in general? My husband thinks that we parents have become too soft on our kids. (But in truth, I feel his approach is too old school. He doesn't give much leniency and expects too much from them). What do y'all think?"What a good question! "Dear Mamas, I was recently out shopping with my children and we encountered a family with a Down Syndrome child. The little boy was wanting to hug on my daughter, who is 7 years old and she was mortified and became rude and then I was mortified. I have failed somewhere on teaching a valuable lesson. I know Denise has mentioned her aunt lives at Holy Angels so I am hoping for some wisdom to pass on before this happens again." - Listener SubmissionThe hug was from a place of love and was meant as a gift for this little girl, even if it was misunderstood. There are many opportunities in our community to get involved and teach your children understanding and compassion for those that are different from them. We spoke to Mama Denise Vinson Arthur on Friday's "What Would Mama Do?" about the best ways to get involved and start this very important conversation with your children.
