Dr Axel Lorenz is a physics engineer who has worked in the international thermonuclear fusion energy research for the last twenty-five years. In 2004 he began his work on project co-ordination of Wendelstein 7-X at the Max-Planck-Institut for Plasma Physics in Greifswald, Germany. Fusion, the nuclear reaction that powers the Sun and the stars, is a potential source of safe, non-carbon emitting and virtually limitless energy. Building on the example of the Wendelstein 7-X, this talk aims to illustrate the physical basics, implementation concepts and challenges on the road ahead for a viable thermonuclear fusion power plant.

We bring to you a recording of the recent Anti-poverty week talk on the Changing Face of Poverty. The speaker, Rev Dr Lynn Arnold. The Rev Dr Arnold is well placed to discuss his thoughts on this topic, spending much of his working life in assisting the more vulnerable in our community. His work includes being the 40th Premier South Australia, CEO of World Vision, to working with Anglicare SA and is now an ordained priest of the Anglican Church. He works tirelessly to promote the needs of the vulnerable and seeing an alleviation of poverty both locally and globally.
