In this episode I visit a boxing gym that’s not quite what you’d expect and so much more than you think. Rock Steady Boxing is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that gives people with Parkinson’s disease hope by improving their quality of life through a non-contact boxing based fitness curriculum. The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation estimates there are more than 60,000 people in the United States diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease each year. Rock Steady Boxing is the first gym in the country dedicated to the fight against Parkinson’s. In this episode, I speak with individuals who have been diagnosed with this disease and who share how Rock Steady Boxing has helped to improve their life.
Bri is an athlete, role model and badass chick that I have had the pleasure of getting to know and admire. She lives her life with a positive mindset, sets goals, thrives off self-motivation, and thinks outside of the box. The motivation behind her large drive comes from her father's exciting, humorous and adventurous story telling while growing up. Attempting to live her life as daringly as possible, she hopes to create a story of her own that is unlike any other. Listen, enjoy and send some love to this amazing woman during her amazing journey! IG: bri_better FB: bribetter/ www.bribetter.com #bribetter
Sarah is a massage therapist who specializes in myofascial release and craniosacral therapy. Her massage and energy therapy background, combined with the Myofascial Release approach to treatment, gives her the ability to treat her clients with compassion, intuition, and skill. She incorporates many techniques into her bodywork with clients and strives to empower each individual by increasing their body awareness and teaching advanced stretching techniques for them to practice at home. I was fortunate enough to be able to experience her technique and left feeling lighter and rejuvenated. Sarah most definitely has a wonderfully refined way of helping you heal inside and out through myofascial release.
