In this Q&A-style episode, Coach JK takes four real posts from Threads and expands on the short comment-section answers that rarely leave room for meaningful context. Topics include:- Caffeine and sleep (and what might actually be keeping you up), - How to think through trying a CrossFit gym without relying on stereotypes- The nuance behind the “don't eat before lifting” debate. He also shares a candid perspective for coaches about the kind of audience your content attracts. If you appreciate practical fitness conversations with context and honesty, this episode delivers.-----Instagram: @coachJKmcleodEmail: JK@jkmcleod.com
#295: In this episode, I'm sitting down with Josie, who lost 120 pounds naturally with PCOS after finally learning how to support her body instead of fighting it. Josie was diagnosed at 17 and struggled with insulin resistance, adrenal fatigue, irregular periods, hair loss, and facial hair. She did all the “right” things, ate healthy, worked out hard, and still felt stuck. We talk about the moment things clicked for her, why lowering stress changed everything, and how simplifying her approach, cutting sugar, prioritizing protein, going gluten and dairy free, and supporting her hormones helped her feel like herself again. This conversation is for anyone who feels exhausted by extremes and just wants a calmer, more realistic way forward. What happens when a personal trainer loses the ability to walk and discovers a power she never knew existed? In episode 248 of Joy Found Here, Isabelle Daikeler shares how spending over a decade unable to move without pain after giving birth forced her into complete surrender. That breaking point became her awakening—when her body began moving on its own for three days, when channeling started, and when she discovered what she calls our "third limb": an aspect of ourselves we've all forgotten we have.In This Episode, You Will Learn:(04:59) From Skeptic to Healer(07:18) The Car Crash That Changed Everything(10:30) Discovering Adaptogenic Medicine(15:13) Giving Birth and Losing Mobility(17:10) The Prayer of Surrender(22:00) Three Days of Somatic Unwinding(24:30) Discovering the "Third Limb"(30:44) Living with Inner Guidance(34:08) Your Body's Ancestral Wisdom(39:37) Inside the Harmonic Egg(44:48) Why Knowing is FreedomAs the founder of Authenticity – The Malibu Sound & Light Healing Center, Isabelle Daikeler guides individuals toward inner alignment through intuitive channeling and the revolutionary Harmonic Egg chamber. Her journey into this work wasn't sought—it found her. After giving birth to her son seventeen years ago, she spent over a decade unable to walk, stripped of her identity as a strong, athletic personal trainer. Broken and surrendering in prayer on the floor of her Kauai home, her connection to divine guidance—what she calls her third "limb"—awakened through three days of involuntary somatic unwinding and the beginning of channeling. Her devastating loss became the doorway to a different kind of strength: one built from the inside out.In this episode, Isabelle shares why surrender is the most essential step in healing, how our bodies hold ancestral wisdom and current-life lessons in every moment, and why the negative emotions we resist are actually our greatest teachers. She introduces the Harmonic Egg—a sacred geometry chamber using personalized sound and light frequencies to reset the nervous system and shift us from reactive to responsive. Whether you've spent years searching for answers or you're carrying pain that won't let go, Isabelle's message is clear: the wisdom you need is already within you, accessible here and now, and knowing—truly knowing—is the gateway to freedom.Connect with Isabelle Daikeler:WebsiteInstagramFacebookLet's Connect:WebsiteInstagram Hosted on Acast. Send us a textTodd Souter has tried pretty much all of the diets under the sun until he ended up finding temporary success with the Ketogenic Diet. After suffering from kidney stones in 2019, Todd took more of an interest in nutrition & strength training. In 2024, Todd suffered a broken toe & was diagnosed with Golfers Elbow, Tennis Elbow & chronic tendonitis in left wrist. Lifting heavier, training to exhaustion, and pushing through pain are often labeled as discipline, yet they are some of the fastest ways to stall progress and get injured. The real problem is misunderstanding how intensity and reps actually drive results over time. In this Fitness Friday episode we get into why pushing past your limits is not discipline, what rep ranges actually drive results, and how fitness is increasingly shaping behavior, consistency, and social connection. Liron Kayvan founded BFLA in 2019. He's a NASM Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Transformative Life Coach. Liron has competed in Amateur MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Rugby and has been a Fitness Coach for over 10 years. What's Discussed (00:52) Why mastering bodyweight movements should come before lifting (02:56) How machines allow higher intensity and safety without perfect form (04:36) Why workout intensity matters more than how heavy you lift (06:02) The rep ranges that actually support strength and muscle growth (13:40) How group fitness creates consistency through structure and accountability (15:00) Why fitness spaces are replacing bars as social connection hubs (17:56) How padel and running clubs blend movement, community, and lifestyle (22:07) Why pickleball and other “low-impact” sports carry unexpected injury risk Thank you to our sponsors: Rho Nutrition: Try Rho Nutrition today and experience the difference of Liposomal Technology. #294: If you have PCOS and feel like you're “doing everything right” but still struggling with hunger, cravings, or weight…this episode is for you. Women are often taught that their bodies are the problem, so when something doesn't work, we blame ourselves. But what if the issue isn't willpower… it's the formulation? In this episode, we break down what food labels don't tell you, and why PCOS women are especially vulnerable to certain “health” foods and marketing claims. We cover: - How foods are engineered for the bliss point and why PCOS appetite signaling makes this harder - The truth about “natural flavors” and how labels can sound clean without being supportive - Why “sugar-free” doesn't always mean blood-sugar-friendly for insulin-resistant bodies - How low-fat foods can worsen hunger and blood sugar swings (plus a real coaching call example with a simple fix) This isn't about restriction or cutting out everything you enjoy. It's about understanding why your body responds the way it does, so you can stop blaming yourself and start making choices that actually support PCOS hormones and metabolism. Every January starts with big fitness intentions, and it usually ends the same way, routines quietly fall apart once motivation wears off. The real issue is well known: building habits around feelings and calendar dates instead of non-negotiable standards. In this Fitness Friday episode, we break down the New Year fitness cycle with Liron Kayvan and talk about how to approach it in a way that actually sticks. We get into why walking is the most underrated habit in fitness, how non-negotiables put discipline on autopilot, and what truly separates people who stay consistent from those who fall off every January. What We Discuss: (00:00) Why New Year goals fall apart by mid-January (02:48) The New Year reset cycle and why starting dates don't create consistency (05:52) How too much daily decision-making sabotages long-term habits (09:18) What it actually means to build non-negotiables (14:46) Interval walking explained and why it's trending for 2026 (20:02) Recovery as a top fitness trend and what's driving the surge (24:37) Cold plunges, saunas, and why sleep is the most underappreciated recovery tool (30:51) Training early and why prioritization matters more than motivation Thank you to our sponsors: Prolon: Get 30% off sitewide plus a $40 bonus gift when you subscribe to their 5-Day Program! In this episode, Caleigh and Sara dive into how AI is showing up in fitness, training decisions, and everyday health — whether we like it or not. We break down how artificial intelligence can actually be useful for things like programming workouts, adjusting training based on soreness, and making sense of data, without handing over all your common sense to a robot. We talk about where AI helps and where it absolutely doesn't, why context still matters more than any algorithm, and how knowing what questions to ask is just as important as the answers you get. We also unpack the growing fear around AI replacing jobs, what this means for trainers and coaches, and why adapting beats pretending this isn't happening.Along the way, we get into the risks of over-reliance, the difference between guidance and outsourcing your brain, and why the human side of coaching — judgment, experience, and accountability — still can't be automated. This episode isn't about hype or panic; it's about using new tools wisely, staying critical, and remembering that your body isn't a spreadsheet.Connect with us on social media!Instagram | TikTok | Threads | Youtube | Facebook | X (Twitter) | WebsiteThis podcast offers health, fitness, and nutritional information and is designed for educational and entertainment purposes only. The new year is well underway and people will be looking to get in shape, but one expert says not every social media trend is worth following on your fitness journey. Between the 75 Hard challenge and Zone 2 training, there are trends that work and trends that are less effective, depending on your level of fitness. Personal trainer Alex Flint says going too hard will lead to soreness, fatigue and late-night snacking, which can do more harm than good. #293: In this episode, we're talking about the micro habits that actually matter for PCOS in 2026… not more rules, not more restriction, and definitely not more overwhelm. If you're already eating gluten-free and dairy-free, walking, lifting, doing Pilates, and still seeing weight fluctuations, fatigue, anxiety, or burnout… this episode is for you. The missing piece for many women with PCOS isn't another habit; it's nervous system and cortisol regulation. I break down small, realistic micro habits that quietly have a massive impact on hormones, cravings, stress, and consistency. These habits aren't flashy. They won't go viral. But they're the exact foundation women with PCOS need in 2026 to lose weight sustainably, feel calmer, and stop fighting their bodies. This month's Q and A episode is one of those conversations that went everywhere it needed to go. Craig Smith and I sat down and answered real questions from real people. Just honest perspectives from years in the trenches coaching humans through health, fitness, mindset, and life. We covered things like how to actually find a good personal trainer and what red flags to watch for before you waste your time or money. We had a real conversation around sobriety versus recovery and why those two things are not the same even though people use them interchangeably. This one always opens up some nuance and perspective. We dug into why so many people sabotage their fat loss even when they know exactly what to do. Not from a willpower angle, but from an identity, comfort, and self protection standpoint. We also talked about how to influence your kids to eat better and slower without creating anxiety, pressure, or a weird relationship with food that follows them into adulthood. And of course, we answered a few other questions that always seem simple on the surface but go a lot deeper once you actually unpack them. If you're a parent, someone working on your own health, or someone who wants to understand why change can feel so hard even when the path is clear, this episode will land. #292: What if everything you've been told about weight loss with PCOS is wrong? Taylor believed harder workouts would finally help her lose weight after years of struggling with PCOS, irregular periods, and fibromyalgia. Instead, the high-intensity training was keeping her stuck. In this episode, she shares how discovering the cortisol-PCOS connection changed everything, and why switching to weighted, low-stress training helped her lose 50 pounds in under two years. #291: Feeling overwhelmed by meal prep? This episode breaks down exactly how to get started with PCOS-friendly meal prepping, without the stress or spending hours in the kitchen. Why meal prepping matters for PCOS: Your body is extra sensitive to blood sugar swings and inflammatory foods. Skipping meals or under-eating spikes cortisol, which worsens insulin resistance, inflammation, and cravings. Meal prep eliminates decision fatigue and reduces the daily stress that impacts your hormones. What PCOS meal prepping looks like: Low-effort, repeatable recipes that you actually want to eat—gluten-free, dairy-free, low sugar, high protein meals following the PCOS plate method. Beginner tips: Start small with just 1–2 recipes per week (like prepping only breakfast) and choose simple, quick recipes. Ready to take meal prep to the next level? Our 4-Week Meal & Workout Plan Kit (https://pcosweightloss.org/course-enrollment/) launches January 1st! Get done-for-you meal plans, workout routines, our PCOS protein powder, a lab kit to track your progress, and so much more. Everything you need to transform your PCOS in one complete system.
