The Bruderholz podcast introduces the faculty of Vancouver School of Theology in conversation about how their scholarship engages the church and the world God loves. It gets its name from a restaurant/pub in Basel, where the Swiss Theologian Karl Barth held informal classes and conversations after his retirement in 1963. Long before Pub Theology, Barth did theology here with students and groups of clergy which was conversation and interactive and engaged with the big challenges of the times. He said in the classroom it was theology in a more formal sense (dogmatics), in the pub it was theology as conversation, trying out some ideas (gymnastics). We hope to catch that spirit in the conversations we hold. Faculty members of VST at the Bruderholz will be in conversation the hosts of our program, Richard Topping, Principal, and Todd Wiebe, the host of The Rectors Cupboard, a popular Podcast out of the Vancouver area (and friend of VST), Allison Williams, VST student and technical guru for the Rector’s Cupboard, is also a conversation partner.
