John and Jessica have been attending Calvary since 2009. John came because he was at the University and his dad became the pastor of Calvary. Jessica came to Calvary through John. Now, the proud parents of three boys, Dr John and Queen Jessica share what its been like to learn new rhythms of leading a family through spiritual disciplines and what it looks like in their home. You'll learn and see that your kids will see you in all times, good and bad. They will do what you show is important. Also, you will see that EVERY family does it a little different. This is our opening podcast to conversations with families within our walls. This week's episode begins with an introduction to the 4th member of the team, Branna Burns, Family Events and Spiritual Formations Director. We then get into discussion mode with Andre and Rachel Taylor, parents to Madeline and Joseph, and long time Calvary members. Andre and Rachel actually met each other at Calvary in our former Young Professionals class, 20/30, through working alongside one another on a small group project. You'll have to listen to the end to hear that part of the story, but they discuss raising kids in this age and how they disciple their kids in unique and fun ways. You'll love funny stories they have with their kids, conversations on the drive, and how they, as a couple, have chosen for their kids to see their own beauty (and handsomeness) through independence. Marion, a local psychiatrist and long time Calvary member, discusses with us about the health of our kids and family in the midst of COVID and restarting back to schools. There are MANY key insights and informative ways of checking on your mental health, the mental health of your kids, the mental state of your family, and checking them often.
