This week Spencer and Laurien unpack an eclectic mix of news with their signature flair. In the Top Three 33, they highlight blaze of 33 hybrid cars on fire. There's a bunch of wonky weed news Behind the Curtain including lady basketball players getting the A-OK to use it off court. The word salad of On Chain, Off Chain, Cocaine, Shitstain involves Spence covering the degenerate trade bro gambling stories your uncle keeps reading and, on the lanes -- well, you don't have a license for that. The Heavenly Host arrives at last before the walls of the South Capital. What follows is not a battle so much as a verdict – rendered in powder, fire, and seven days of smoke and blood. This is the story of the Becoming that finally arrived; of the current that finally found its place to pool... and what it cost to stop. The crew is back and kicking things off with a conversation about curfews, parenting, and whether the rules we grew up with still make sense today. From there, the guys catch up on Drake's latest releases and debate whether the music actually lived up to the anticipation. They also ask a tough question: Is Chris Brown at risk of oversaturating his catalog, or does he still have plenty left in the tank? Spence is feeling good with the Spurs back in the Finals, but not everyone understands why he's giving Chet Holmgren so much grace. The conversation expands into Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's place in Oklahoma City history and whether he's become more beloved than KD, Russ, and Harden ever were. Things take a much deeper turn as the guys discuss the business of slavery, the realities of other slave trades throughout history, and some of the uncomfortable truths that often get left out of the conversation. And then… the rails come off. The crew reacts to the leaked footage from Diddy's alleged “Freak Off” parties, leading to one of the wildest discussions of the episode. Genre-hopping actress Jennifer Spence returns to the pod to discuss the third season of Canada's spiciest workplace comedy, The Trades. Set in a blue-collar community where the high stress of working in a refinery is balanced by the comedic antics of its plant workers, The Trades centres around general foreman Todd Stool (Robb Wells), and his sister and roommate, Audrey (Anastasia Phillips), who follows in her big brother's footsteps pursuing a career in the trades. Jennifer shines as Chelsea, an ambitious young executive from head office who arrived in the first season and worked damn hard to become an essential part of the family. The third season premiered in early spring and in the season finale, Chelsea and Conch Industries as a whole are (no spoilers!) poised for real change. The Trades airs on Crave and is currently in the running for a whopping eight trophies at this week's Canadian Screen Awards. On the eve of the CSAs, Jennifer (who was recently nominated for a Leo Award for her work as Chelsea) joins us to reflect on her adventures in television comedy, how her adventures in Chelsea's shoes have impacted her adventures through this exceptionally fucked up world, and her adventures singing “Born to Be Wild” in a very special third season episode.Episode sponsor: Fish Flight Entertainment

As China and the United States race to expand their artificial intelligence capabilities, economists said the two countries need closer cooperation on global governance and safety standards in order to better manage the potential risks of the technology. While the US continues to lead in frontier AI research, large-scale models and computing power, economists said that China is rapidly catching up and has developed strengths in integrating AI into manufacturing, consumer services and other parts of the real economy, reflecting different development priorities in the two countries. There are two main players in the development of frontier AI — China and the US," economist and Nobel laureate Michael Spence told China Daily. "There's almost no measurable difference between them now in terms of performance. Whatever difference there was, China has caught up."“前沿人工智能的发展主要有两个参与者——中国和美国,”经济学家、诺贝尔奖得主迈克尔·斯宾塞在接受《中国日报》采访时表示。“就性能而言,现在两者几乎没有可测量的差异。无论过去存在什么差距,中国已经赶上了。”According to Stanford University's Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, US and Chinese AI models have traded places at the top of performance rankings multiple times since early 2025. As of March, the top US model led by only 2.7 percent, with a marginal gap that fluctuated over the past year while remaining in single digits, according to the institute's 2026 AI Index Report. The models of AI innovation pursued by China and the US are actually quite different," said Zhu Min, former deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund.“中美两国所追求的人工智能创新模式其实存在很大差异,”国际货币基金组织前副总裁朱民表示。"The US focuses on large models, massive computing power and a strong foundational base, aiming for what we call 'artificial superintelligence'. What the US pursues is the development of intelligence itself," he said.“美国专注于大模型、巨量算力和强大的基础底座,目标是所谓的‘人工超级智能'。美国追求的是智能本身的发展,”他说。China, according to Zhu, measures AI development by a different yardstick. China, in contrast, emphasizes applying AI to the real economy. When assessing whether AI is good or not, China places greater weight on the benefits and convenience it can bring to the real economy and to people's daily lives," he added.“相比之下,中国更强调将人工智能应用于实体经济。在评估人工智能优劣时,中国更看重它能给实体经济和人们的日常生活带来的效益和便利,”他补充道。Spence noted that China's systematic approach to deployment gives it an edge that the West currently lacks. China has, in my view, in the context of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), a better set of either plans or intentions to make sure that AI is deployed by and adopted across a wide range of the economy, both in manufacturing and services," Spence said.“在我看来,在‘十五五'规划(2026-2030年)的背景下,中国在确保人工智能在制造业和服务业等广泛经济领域得到部署和应用方面,有一套更好的计划或意图,”斯宾塞说。"We talk a lot about the diffusion challenge, but we are just talking about it. We are not doing anything," he added.“我们经常谈论推广的挑战,但只是停留在口头上,并没有采取任何实际行动,”他补充道。As both China and the US, along with other economies, are scrambling to scale up their AI capabilities, the risks are increasing too — and not just economic ones. AI carries significant uncertainty, including risks related to society, the environment and potential military uses," Zhu warned.“人工智能具有巨大的不确定性,包括与社会、环境以及潜在军事用途相关的风险,”朱民警告说。"Therefore, establishing a governance framework and safety 'guardrails' for AI is, I believe, the most critical imperative for China and the US as the two leading players in this field, and it is also what the world expects of them," he added.“因此,为人工智能建立治理框架和安全‘护栏',我认为是中美作为该领域两个领先国家最紧迫的任务,也是世界对它们的期望,”他补充道。"The US tends to favor exogenous governance — building external oversight frameworks for monitoring and compliance," Zhu said. "China emphasizes an endogenous approach, embedding safeguards from the very beginning, even before model deployment, to ensure that AI benefits humanity."“美国倾向于外生治理——建立用于监控和合规的外部监督框架,”朱民说。“中国强调内生方法,在模型部署之前就从一开始嵌入安全措施,以确保人工智能造福人类。”Zhu noted that "both approaches are valid, open to discussion, and could together shape the future of AI governance". Spence said the US and China "can probably cooperate on certain aspects of regulation, such as not using the technology for highly destructive purposes". China and the US agreed to launch an intergovernmental dialogue on AI, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun announced at a news conference earlier this month. Guo said that China and the US need to work together to promote the development and improve the governance of AI to ensure that it will better contribute to the progress of human civilization and the common welfare of the international community.

The Heavenly Host has arrived at the great provincial capital of Hunan - Changsha. The mighty bastion that will prove to be the first city on the long march north that simply refuses to fall. For two months in late 1852, the largest army the Taiping has yet fielded throws everything it knows at these walls... but the city endures. This is the story of the underground war fought by nameless men in the dark Time Period Covered: Oct. – Dec. 1852 Major Historical Figures: Taiping Heavenly Kingdom: Hong Xiuquan, Heavenly King, Second Son of God [1814–1864] Yang Xiuqing, East King, Voice of God the Father [d. 1856] Xiao Chaogui, West King, Voice of Jesus Christ [d. 1852] Shi Dakai, Wing King [1831–1863] Qing Dynasty: Luo Bingzhang, Governor of Hunan [1793–1867] Zeng Guofan, Commissioner of Local Defence for Hunan [1811–1872] Major Sources Cited: Kuhn, Philip A. A Servant's Heart.Jesus didn't just teach serving, He modeled it. What looks low in the world is actually the pathway up in the kingdom. Faithfulness is proven in the small things, and a willing heart to serve is the mark of a true believer. What you do with what's in your hands right now is what prepares you for what's next. Stay faithful, stay serving, and stay humble. God is building something in you through it.
The army that marches north out of Quanzhou in June 1852 is not the same one that left Jintian 18 months prior. It has left its prime architect in an unmarked grave, massacred the city that killed him, and crossed into the unknown territory of Hunan. At Daozhou, for the first time, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom starts speaking to Empire at large, calls upon brotherhood to honor their blood-oaths, & dares name the emperor himself a demon. It's beginning to get real, and all roads - it seems - lead toward Changsha... This week's episode features aging expert Helen Hirsh Spence, co-author of Reset: Making the Most of the Rest of Your Life. Helen shares insights on aging well, developing “longevity literacy,” and strategies to combat internalized ageism—empowering you to thrive in later life.About HelenHelen Hirsh Spence is a powerful voice at the intersectionof longevity, leadership, and age inclusion. Her TEDx talk—"Embrace Age with a Longevity Mindset"—captivated audiences worldwide and sparked international dialogue around how we perceive and value older adults.Recognized as a prominent figure in the field of longevity,Helen has been invited to share her insights at conferences, on podcasts, national radio and TV. She seizes every opportunity to promote an empowering perspective on aging, inspiring change for all generations. Her presentations are known to be thought-provoking, engaging, and deeply relevant to today's shifting social and economic landscape. Key TakeawaysAdvances in technology, medical advances, and education have given us a “longevity bonus” — our lifespans have increased 20 to 30 years. We can influence the trajectory of our lifespan, but itdepends on our beliefs. A longevity mindset means accepting our longer lives as the new normal. Targeting older adults requires workplace adaptations like flexible work, phased retirement, and intergenerational collaboration. The loneliness epidemic is spread across two primarydemographic groups, older adults and people under 25. Programs to build intergenerational connections and reciprocal mentorship have mutual benefits for young and old. Children from the age of three have negative preconceived notions of what it means to be old. Women especially have been conditioned by anti-aging marketing campaigns, not recognizingthat their potential, dreams and aspirations have been limited by ageism.Follow Helen on LinkedInView Helen's TedX TalkOrder Helen's book Reset (US and Canada)

1-1 with Leeds at home. The fifth home game this season we've taken the lead and dropped points. And now Chelsea away on Tuesday — eight years since the last time we won a league game at the Bridge. Could this finally be the one? I'm joined on The Originals by our ray of sunshine Stu in Dubai, Si over in Switzerland, and a brilliant guest — Jason McGovern from Last Word on Spurs. We get into what actually happened against Leeds (Tel's first De Zerbi-era goal, the Richarlison miss, the overhead-kick decision that gifted Leeds their penalty), the five-game De Zerbi trajectory — 8 points from 5, xGA halved, the direction is genuinely up — and the home pattern that won't go away. Then Linda's brilliant question on the tumor of negativity pressing on the soul of this club, and why so much Spurs content goes nuclear after every result. And the big one — Chelsea away. Eight years at Stamford Bridge. Andy's question on how De Zerbi exorcises the demon. Roston's case for positivity. And whether this group, mostly recruited in the last two windows, even carries the scar tissue the previous lot did. Plus your listener questions — Maddison usage, Kolo Muani vs Spence, the penalty drought, and how on earth we're planning to celebrate when we stay up. The Originals is the panel show from Oh So Spurs — higher-quality, more nuanced fan content from people who've actually been through this season. Smarter than the angry-pundit register, but still fans, with the cautious belief that comes with it. If you got something out of the episode, please follow the show, drop us a rating, and share it with a Spurs fan who's nervously checking the table every five minutes like the rest of us. And to the Oh-So-33 crew — keep it lily-white. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom has been proclaimed — but proclamations don't feed armies. As such, its Divine Host will enjoy all of 11 days before sheer arithmetic forces them back onto the road. What follows is eight months of movement through the hills and river valleys of Guangxi: not quite a military campaign, not quite a refugee march. When they finally stop, it will be inside the walls of a city called Yong'an - "Eternal Peace." Today's episode is a little different. If you're a regular listener to the show, you know that usually we hear a story from a regular person about something they've experienced that was extremely unusual. We have over 250 episodes like that – plane crashes, mass shootings, animal attacks, and lots more. And it's not all trauma stories – we have some happy ones too. But sometimes we change it up, and I have a guest on who has a really unusual job. I've talked to Spence, who's a lighthouse keeper, and Dan, who prepares people for their first time going to prison, and Jen – who works as a professional bridesmaid. You can scroll through all the back episodes and find those and a few more. So today I'm speaking with Elaina. As a young person, she was hired to work at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World – as Mickey Mouse. You know, when you're at Disney World, and you're walking around trying to decide if you go ride the Space Mountain roller coaster, or take a break in the air conditioning and watch the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and all of a sudden you see standing right in front of you is – Mickey Mouse. Waving, signing autographs, and just making people happy. Yeah, that's what Elaina did. She also played Minnie Mouse, and a few other characters sometimes. We talked about how she ended up getting that job, what it's like to wear the costume, what would get you fired, and the celebrities she crossed paths with. And of course, what everyone wants to know about – the infamous tunnels UNDER Disney World. You're gonna get all the behind-the-scenes stuff today. And why is this episode titled “Elaina was FRIENDS with Mickey”? She'll explain that too. Juan previews a massive weekend in the sport of boxing! Saturday Moring begins with Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani, and ends with David Benavidez vs Gilberto Ramirez.
This podcast episode featured marine biologist and composer Heather Spence discussing her research on ocean soundscapes and coral health. Heather explained her work listening to underwater sounds to understand marine ecosystems, including recent exhibitions in Mexico City and upcoming concerts in Cancun featuring live cello and underwater sounds. The conversation covered topics like coral bleaching, dolphin intelligence, and the possibility of underwater alien sightings, though Heather clarified that most mysterious ocean phenomena likely have scientific explanations related to research equipment or environmental factors. The episode concluded with a discussion about local wildlife sounds in Northern Virginia and plans for Heather to potentially visit Wes's rural property.wesiseli.comPatreon.com/wes_iseli

On today's episode, we welcome Kahh Spence, Founder and CEO of Samir Grey — a luxury fragrance and personal care brand rooted in family, legacy, and emotional connection. After more than a decade shaping culture as a celebrity hairstylist and image architect for artists including Cardi B, Kelly Rowland, Normani, and Victoria Monét, Kahh stepped into a new chapter: building a brand of his own grounded in storytelling, representation, and self-expression. Samir Grey was born from something deeply personal. Inspired by the women who raised him, the brand redefines modern luxury as an accessible act of self-love — offering clean, vegan, cruelty-free fragrance and essentials designed to feel intimate, grounding, and enduring. What began as a creative vision evolved into a mission-driven company that uses scent as a tool for memory, identity, and empowerment — expanding beauty beyond aesthetics into emotional ritual. In this episode, Kahh shares what it takes to move from creative collaborator to founder and CEO, how to translate personal legacy into product, and why leading with authenticity matters more than ever in today's beauty landscape. We discuss representation, building inclusive brands without performative messaging, navigating doubt as a first-time founder, and redefining success through impact and cultural resonance. A powerful conversation for creatives, entrepreneurs, and anyone ready to build boldly from their own story. He shares the story of the day his house burned down during the LA fires and how that moment pushed him to speak out about what he believes is the city's decline. Pratt criticizes LA leadership, including Karen Bass and the Los Angeles Fire Department, while outlining his grassroots plan to restore safety, address homelessness, and give small businesses a chance to thrive. He says he's not trying to become a career politician—he just wants to fix LA and then get out of politics.
