Joshua 2: An Unlikely Hero (Joshua - Pain & Promises) taught by Pastor Dave Rolph on 01-04-26.
Jacob's dying words reveal timeless truth: Walk before God, let Him shepherd you, embrace His redemption. Our inheritance in Christ surpasses anything this world offers—eternal, incorruptible, reserved in heaven. Are you living for what truly lasts?God's Faithfulness & Our Future • Part of our weekly Sunday morning study through Genesis.
When Jesus died on the Cross He showed us that there is a hell. If there isn't a hell then Jesus made the biggest mistake a person could make by dying to save us from a place that doesn't exist. Yes, the Cross of Calvary tells us that there is a place called hell. In this message we look at six flashing red lights that are on the highway to hell.
Welcome to the SSPX Podcast, and Happy New Year. This week, like last week, we're offering a special presentation on the podcast, bringing together a sermon and a reflection for the great feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. As we come to this Sunday in the traditional calendar, the Church invites us to linger over something very small in sound, yet immeasurable in meaning: the Holy Name of Jesus. This feast draws us back to the earliest days of Our Lord's life on earth, to the moment when His name was spoken and given according to the will of the Father. Before He preached, before He worked miracles, before He shed His blood on Calvary, He bore a name that already revealed His mission. In Sacred Scripture, names are never accidental. They express identity and calling. In the case of the Child born at Bethlehem, the name given to Him tells us exactly why He has come. Jesus means “God saves.” It is not a title He assumes later, but a truth present from the beginning. Even in His infancy, at His circumcision, He begins to fulfill what that name proclaims. The Church has always understood that this name is not merely to be spoken, but revered, invoked, and lived. The liturgy bows before it. The saints return to it again and again. They teach us that the Holy Name is light for the mind, strength for the will, and comfort for the wounded heart. It steadies the soul and recalls us to what matters most. Today's reflections draw from Scripture, from the Church's prayer, and from saints who loved this name deeply, especially Saint Bernard, whose words we will hear in full. Let us allow the Holy Name of Jesus to echo quietly within us, not as a sound alone, but as a saving presence. - - - - - - - We'd love your feedback on these Daily Devotionals! How Close Are We? • A special prophecy update for New Year's Eve
This Sunday we will explore how joy enters ordinary and unexpected places through the stories of shepherds and Joseph. The shepherds experience sudden, loud joy when angels announce Christ's birth in their fields, demonstrating that joy doesn't wait for perfect conditions or qualified people. Joseph's experience reveals a different kind of joy: slow, quiet, emerging through confusion and obedience. Both journeys lead to the same Savior. The gathered church hears the good news of great joy, then scatters to carry that joy into workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods. Joy finds us in ordinary places because Christ meets us where we are.
Today we conclude the Advent journey by exploring how God's love is revealed through incarnation in John 1:14. The Word became flesh, demonstrating that love does not stay distant but comes near. God's response to a broken world is presence, not distance. Jesus embodies both grace and truth, showing that authentic love is honest yet compassionate. When love draws near, it cannot ignore need, which is why Jesus consistently moves toward the margins. The gathered church worships our God who came near, then scatters to embody that same love through presence and faithful action in everyday relationships.
Have you ever found yourself taking the cross of Christ for granted? As Christians, it's easy for us to get callous towards Calvary but we must remember the amazing love Jesus poured out for us! In this message called, THE CROSS OF CHRIST, Pastor Jeff Schreve shares the prophetic words King David wrote in Psalm 22 regarding the crucifixion of the coming Messiah.
The readings for this homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/123025.cfmThe mystery of Christmas overturns every illusion of self-salvation. God does not wait for humanity to climb back to Him. He comes down.Father Anthony Gramlich, MIC, draws us into this central truth of the Incarnation: Fallen humanity cannot raise itself by its own efforts. Grace is not something we generate. Redemption begins with divine humility. The world repeatedly offers a different promise — especially in modern spiritual movements — that we can elevate ourselves through technique, effort, or enlightenment. But Scripture reveals the opposite. Because of sin, humanity cannot lift itself to God. Instead, God lowers Himself to lift us. As St. Paul writes, Christ “emptied himself, taking the form of a slave” (Phil 2:7; NABRE). Born in poverty and obscurity, rejected by the world, Jesus enters fully into our human condition — without sin — in order to heal it from within.Father Anthony traces this saving pattern through salvation history itself. Humanity fell through the wood of the tree in Eden, and humanity is raised through the wood of the Cross. God is born on wood, works with wood, and dies on wood so that what once led us away from Heaven becomes the instrument that brings us back. Christmas is already pointing toward Calvary, and Calvary toward resurrection. This mystery demands proclamation. The angels announced it. The shepherds ran to see it. Anna spoke of it to all who awaited redemption. Christmas is not meant to remain silent or sentimental. It is the celebration of a God who acts, a God who saves, and a God who does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. To speak about Christmas rightly is to speak about Jesus Christ — the One who came down so that we might be raised up by grace.“Though he was in the form of God… he humbled himself” (Phil 2:6a & 8a; NABRE). ★ Support this podcast ★
ChosenThough the Jews were God's chosen people, many rejected the Messiah. God demonstrated His sovereignty by executing His plan of salvation through their rejection, drawing to Himself all who would receive Him.
The good news of Jesus Christ is near, simple, and open to all who will receive it.

In this week's episode, The Obedient Heart, we turn to John 2:1–11 and witness Jesus' first miracle at the wedding in Cana, where obedience opens the door to God's glory. As a simple problem meets unwavering trust, we see the power of identifying our need, asking Jesus for help, and doing whatever He says. From empty jars to overflowing wine, this passage reminds us that when we respond with obedience, Jesus reveals His glory—and invites us to see, believe, and trust Him more deeply.Support the showFind us at! Many people mistakenly believe that dinosaurs prove evolution. After all, dinosaurs are strange creatures and seem to represent a very different world from the one we know today. But a recent discovery of the most ancient dinosaur challenges this. One of the oldest dinosaurs ever discovered was about six feet long and weighed about 300 pounds. Scientists had never before seen a complete skeleton of the creature they called Herrerasaurus. But being the most ancient dinosaur discovered at the time, perhaps the dinosaur from which all others evolved, evolutionary scientists expected it to be much less advanced than later dinosaurs. What they found was yet another well-designed creature. The meat-eating dinosaur had excellent teeth, like those of a shark; its jawbone had a double hinge so that it could easily hang onto its prey. These sophisticated features weren't expected in such an ancient dinosaur. This is yet another proof that all creatures were well designed from the beginning. Herrerasaurus is yet one more example of the impossibility of evolution.Dinosaurs, just like all other creatures, were created by God during the first six days the universe existed. This means that dinosaurs and humans once shared this earth in the recent past. All things were created in a perfect state, so there was no need for evolved improvements. The changes we see since creation are not due to evolution but due to the degenerating effects of sin.Romans 1:25"…who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen."Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me to seek my improvement not through created things but through You, the Author of all that is good and the conqueror of all that is evil through Your death on the cross of Calvary and Your Resurrection. Amen.REF.: Oldest dinosaur, Time. Image: Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis Illustration, Fred Wierum, CC BY-SA 4.0, Wikimedia Commons. The Christmas message is really a year round message - it's the message of the gospel - God's invitation to sinners to receive His only provision for sin - the Lord Jesus Christ! Christians remember Christ's birth all year round - and praise and thank God for ever sending His Son to come to this world and die at the place called Calvary to reconcile sinners back to Himself. God does a New Thing. That New Thing is Jesus Christ and His work at Calvary.New Year Message.
Send us a textA nursery rhyme becomes a roadmap to redemption. We walk from Bethlehem's quiet fields to Jerusalem's crowded courts and finally to Revelation's blazing throne room, tracing how Mary's child is the Lamb who fulfills Israel's calendar with pinpoint precision and claims the title deed to history. Angels announce the news to shepherds tending Passover flocks. John the Baptist points with a single word—Behold. And the virgin birth steps out of sentiment and into necessity, establishing the sinless life required for a once‑for‑all sacrifice.Across the final week of Jesus' life, every step lands on ancient promises. On the tenth of Nisan, he is set apart as the true Passover Lamb. For five days, leaders probe and accuse, yet no fault is found. At the very hour lambs are prepared, he is lifted up; at the ninth hour when sacrifices are offered, he declares, “It is finished.” The temple's streams of blood and water echo from his pierced side, and not one bone is broken. Geography joins the testimony: Moriah—Abraham's mountain—becomes the place where substitution is perfected and debt is stamped paid. But the story doesn't end at the cross. John sees a small Lamb—slain, standing, sovereign—with seven horns and seven eyes, worthy to open the scroll and direct the course of human destiny. The Lamb's strength is not bluster; it is holy power. His knowledge is not rumor; it is perfect sight. From creation to Calvary to conquest, he alone is worthy. This is good news for everyone—Jews and Gentiles, women and men, the broken and the self‑assured—because the Lamb who was slain is also the Lamb who shares his victory.Listen to explore the thread that ties manger to altar and altar to throne, to hear how Scripture's symbols become history's schedule, and to consider what it means for a once‑for‑all sacrifice to carry your name.
