Mark and Noonie love two things, hats and craft beer. Listen to them talk about them while they have a few drinks. Unsurprisingly the conversation doesn't always stay on topic, but that's part of the fun! Check out the Instagram page to follow along - @hatsandhopspod
On this episode Mark and Noonie as always, drink some excellent beer and talk about our hats. Mark (as always) has some sizing issues, we get a random walk in to the pod, creep on some people's hats and answer the age old question, is a peach better than a nectarine? Also listen to find out how to get some of our podcast stickers, for free!
No need to wait two months for the next episode this time. We're back with a fresh podcast! This episode sees us discuss salty goses, holiday hangovers, sports hangovers, mass produced stadium beers and some talk about jerseys. As always there is plenty of beer, hat, and sport talk. Enjoy!
Hats and Hops are back after a bit of a break enjoying the easing of lock down in Melbourne. We catch up on what we've been up to hat and beer wise over the past couple of months with Paul Sharp from Deeds brewing. As usual there are tangents, this episode features a particularly useless discussion of Harrison Ford movies.
The hats and hops team are back on the beers! To be fair we were never off the beers but we are finally drinking together again now that lock down has been lifted in Melboune. We discuss the best of our reunion session, highlight the cashmere hop and have a good chat about trading cards. It sounds a bit like we recorded the episode in an empty beer vat, we didn't, but theres a new learning curve to figure out two beers, one mic.
On this episode we drink some great beer and discuss our sports commentary dream job. Mark shows us that he can't be trusted, Noonie has a beer related accident and plenty of sport, beer and hats get discussed. The podcast gets a visual re-brand and some possible upcoming merch!
Welcome back to a new episode of Hats and Hops! As usual we drink a few beers, talk hats and sport and share a few stories. - Beer talk mostly in the first half- Hat/sport talk kicks in around 23:30- Usual rambling tangents run all the way throughThings we talk about this time, lockdown, puzzles, Tony Hawk, Creamsicles, why we don't brew beer and how deeply Mark hates the Vancouver Canucks. MLB hat collections, and Mark and Noonie becoming colour/special commentators.
In this episode the dynamic duo talk for so long they drink 2 beers each. Mark has finally cracked and started a puzzle and Noonie comes up with some amazing business ideas. Beer blenders are on the menu, while non-beer and sport conversation topics include: Sean Bean, chicken wings, face masks, coriander, and Metallica. Cheers!
In this episode we talk a little more about beer and a little less about textiles. New Zealand and US beers are featured, but as Mark always says: "Our real strength is random shit" and we don't disappoint in this episode. We chat about hockey finals, excel spreadsheets, chemistry, our palates and Golden Gaytimes, Enjoy!
In this episode we cover a lot of ground. We delve into social distancing for Kangaroos. Along with the usual lock down breakdowns, hat stats, sneaker chats, face masks, beer snacks and hat packs. It's a rambling non-stop tour de force in sport-watching hat-wearing and beer-drinking, so nothing out of the ordinary.
It’s time to kick off a new season! Not too much has changed though, we’re still poorly researched, unrehearsed and just a little drunk. We discuss further lockdown in our home state, boring topics like supply chain and responsible drinking tactics. We think about a beer tournament and the best MLB logos.Mark gets an interesting mystery hat box which finally leads us to tackle sports name and logo racism and what a Major League movie reboot might look like.
It's finally here! After 14 episodes, at least 28 different beers, 28 different hats and untold hours of hard work/fun we've come to the illogical and arbitrary end to the first season of Hats and Hops! Mark and Noonie take the time to select their favourite beers and hats from the season for special praise but it doesn't take long (as usual) for them to get off track. In their charmingly unprofessional way they begin planning season 2 within the season 1 finale. Other things that happened: Mark regrets not buying a green hat all season, the boys start a war with the city of Geelong, they reflect on their attempted and ill advised live show, and compare Hats and Hops to one of the most highly rated TV shows ever. Thanks for listening, we'll be back very soon!
In this episode Mark tries out a new brewery, and explains why the Cincinnati Reds remind him of ping pong. Noonie has been wearing beanies and lurking on the facebook comment threads of hat companies. There is some reminiscing about long walks and as always plenty of beer, hat, and sport related banter. Enjoy!
In this episode Mark has been hat shopping but is having an ongoing battle with sizing and Noonie has been dabbling in wearing his hats backwards, with mixed results. We have beers in the park, discuss cardboard serial killers, hockey playoffs and drunk hockey jersey purchases.
In this episode we have possibly too much discussion on the centres from the 1998 Chicago Bulls, Red Bulls on hats and Aussies on the international sports stage. We get some great listener submissions and yeast and sunlight are recurring themes, what's not to like?
Recorded on a single mic, in person, sharing beers just like when we started. We discuss our field trip to the hat store, segues, segways, the return of sports on the horizon and more discussion on textiles.
We finally land a big fish of the beer industry and welcome our first guest onto the show, Paul Sharp of Deeds brewing, he takes us through some of their delightful range. We also get sidetracked and talk some Aussie Rules Football, Mark starts a feud with the city of Calgary and we end up on curling, it's a wild ride!
This is one for the beer drinkers! we talk about the best ways to drink a beer, how far Noonie can kick a football, chocolate bars, partridges, beer in soup jugs, and tropical holiday destinations.
In this episode we sync up and feature the same brewery for the first time. We talk about green hats again, and throw in some maroon to spice things up. We ask the big questions, how much thread really is in a hat logo? We talk recycling (yes it’s come to that), and do an info/review topic on hat styles.
In this special episode we try something different and keep to a theme. We talk about Japanese flavors in beer and take a look at some Japanese baseball caps. While we're at it we rate the Japanese baseball logos from the NPB, and find some time to talk about rugby, and music/beer crossovers.
In this episode we sample some beer from Germany and New Zealand while we discuss life without sport and how we've been keeping busy. We explore some controversial hat wearing styles and some beer history, and manage to throw in some talk about food, taxes and dinosaur bones for some reason.
On this episode, we drink some great beer and discuss side patches on hats, sabro hops, boomerangs and ongoing isolation. We even limit this episode to only a couple of tangents.
In this episode we tackle the challenges of remote podcasting and separation anxiety. We drink some excellent beer and discuss our top and bottom ranked NFL logos, but not without tangents on Fenway Park, home burglary, sweaty hats, lion soup and some of the scariest Australian animals.
More hats, more beers. In this episode we drink two beers, both 8%. This leads to a couple of tangents about fireworks and shoes. We also discuss the new NHL team in Seattle and what their jerseys and team colours should be.
It's finally here. The debut episode of the Hats and Hops podcast. As promised, we drink beer and talk about hats. Other sports paraphernalia is also mentioned. If you've been missing listening to us talk about hats and beer this is the podcast for you.
