Life as a late teen and young adult in the modern world as a Christian is not easy. On this podcast, I will be interviewing every-day people and listening to how their struggles have brought them closer to God. No topic is off the table here! Cover art created by: Madaline Fitzpatrick
Oh singleness. It makes everyone who is in a relationship uncomfortable, it makes the singles feel like their hearts aren't being heard, its just a mess. Am I the only one who has felt that? In this episode, I reflect on my time in singleness, and how I was able to completely fall in love with being single. I didn't need anyone's pity, I was completely happy with it! But, it wasn't always that way. I have shed tears about not being in a relationship, and I have been angry at God. However, when I flipped the script, and lived out HIS will instead of expecting Him to check off my list for MY will, things turned around FAST. I discuss what changed, and how I lived out my life to the fullest, even while being single. I hope that this helps you whether you are single, dating, engaged, married, divorced, whatever it may be, to help you find out a little more about yourself! Enjoy!
Looking for Mr. Right? Dreaming about all the wonderful things that he will do for you day in and day out? Or have you found the man of your dreams, and are just starting to talk to him? Either way, this episode is for you. I have stumbled into a God-First relationship, and discovered 5 things that I am going to share with you about what exactly to expect. I will dive into details of my relationship, from how it started to where we are now, and what being in a God-first relationship has showed me about myself. Don't forget to like and subscribe! Enjoy!
Hey everyone! I know its been quite some time, but this is a message that God has placed on my heart with the growing pandemic. Enjoy! =)
Hey guys! On this episode, I sit down with one of my friends, Madeline Helland. We discuss everything from social media struggles, to eating disorders, and even touch base on, of course, the enneagram. I absolutely loved this conversation with this girl. Madeline opens up about some struggles with body image that she has had over the course of her life, and dives into how that looks today with her family. Madeline is so valued in our church community as someone who is intentional, wise, and always a good friend to everyone. I am so excited for you guys to hear this conversation!
Hey guys! I hope that you all loved the last episode and getting to know all of my guests. On this weeks episode, we will dive into topics such as what it means to "guard your heart", our look on online dating, the importance of having your own individual faith walk as well as with your partner's, and so much more. I am so excited to welcome back Drew, Trevor, Jon, and of course, my guest of honor, Rachel Robare. Enjoy listening, and I hope that you get answers to some questions you may have, clarity in confusing areas, or at least and hour of laughter!
Hey Friends! I am so excited for part one of our man panel, or "Manel", on relationships! We go into topics on part one such as "are formal dates extinct?", labeling a relationship, women pursuing men, and dating in the scriptures. We also touch base on purity throughout the series, as well as our perspective of living a Christian relationship. I am joined by Jonathan from episode 10, Rachel from episode 13, as well as Trevor and Drew. Trevor is a graduate student in a serious relationship, and will be speaking from the dating perspective, and Drew is a young adult pastor who will be speaking on the perspective of marriage. I had such a good time speaking with these men and Rachel on all the different viewpoints of relationships in 2019, and hope that you guys love it as well!
Hi friends! On this week's episode, I have exactly what the title is, a life chat with my girl Sandra. Sandra goes into topics such as boundaries, living your full potential, her take on the phrase "guard your heart" means, and other common topics among Christian young adults. I absolutely adore this little conversation that we have, and I am sure you will, too! Sandra is a camp counselor, a barista at my favorite local tea shop, and so on fire for the Lord. Grab some tea, coffee, or kombucha, and come to our table to enjoy this conversation with my girl!
Hi friends! Happy Wednesday! On today's episode, I talk with my friend Enoch about his experience of finding Christ while in college, and how that effected his relationships with people. We also talk about how Enoch just now started a life of battling anxiety, and how he has learned to value anxiety as a direct moment that he can take in silence with God, as well as see how God has worked with him to find coping mechanisms. Enoch also discusses his recent mission trip to Vegas, and how Christ looks in the "City of Sin", and walks us through some incredible lessons he learned while there. Check out Enoch on my instagram, and give him some love!
Hey friends and happy Wednesday! Today, I have guest who has been through more than most of us will go through in our lives. Mitch Waldorf is a graphic design artist, a man of Christ, and one of my first guy friends that I made in my Christian walk. We discuss how imperative it is to find joy in the little things, as well as trusting God in all circumstances, even when a scary brain surgery at 16 is happening. I also love how we dive into the differences of finding faith when you have no choice, such as a medical dilemma, or having choice, such as being in a toxic relationship. I know you guys will love hearing from my friend Mitch in this episode. Enjoy!
Honestly, I struggled to name this episode. We go over life topics such as self-esteem, faith, loyalty to God, singleness, and we end up going on somewhat of a rant somewhere in here about Christian dating, because, let's be honest, which of us single people DON'T complain about it?! You also get a sneak peak of something that is in the works, and very exciting! Rachel is such a warrior of faith, she was my very first friend I made after giving my life to Christ, and she makes me laugh every day. I hope y'all enjoy my conversation with Rachel, and please send in your questions for our man panel!
Happy Wednesday loves! So, this weekend I invited my friend Rachel Robare on to share her story, but, she turned the tables and put me on the spot. I knew the time would come soon, and it came sooner than I thought! So, friends, this episode is my story of coming to Christ. It’s ugly, it’s not my best story, its full of partying, but it is a wonderful testament to how God can turn any mistakes into His story of redemption. With that being said, I am putting at ❌trigger warning❌ on this episode for my loves who have had the awful experience of dealing with sexual abuse. I am also labeling this episode pg-13 for the same reason. However! That is not the whole episode, so if you would still like to hear this story without the possibility of a trigger, fast forward from 39:20-52:12 (it’s a long episode I know haha). I love you all so much, and hope that you find my story to be a story of hope and restoration. Enjoy ❤️
Hey Friends! This episode of Hearts Unglued is getting down to the nitty-gritty of just what happens when God calls you to the S-word. Singleness. Ben dives into how he has become so involved in ministry, and what his struggles have looked like as he has lived out his 20s as a single man. He talks about the temptations, when he has failed, and how he has realigned his heart time and time again to what he believes God's Will is for him. Ben has been shouted out on numerous other episodes, and today is the day you all get to meet the man behind the holla-at-ya's. Hope you all enjoy it!
On this week's episode, I talk with my friend David Sellers about how his path to obeying God has looked in the past few years, and how he walked off of a stable job to pursue God. David tells us about how joining a mission trip to the Dominican Republic has changed his life, and how he has carried it out into his life even a year later. I had so much fun recording with David, give us some love and rate/subscribe!
You guys. This conversation is just GOLD. Jon and I talk about how so often, we get swayed into the ways of the world. Around age 15, Jon started to detach from his Christian walk, and start to dabble into the world of sin. We talk about how often this is a path that Christians tend to take, no matter how strong our faith was at the beginning. Jon then discusses what it looked like when he decided to return to his faith, and how that was a much different looking journey than he ever knew possible. I am so excited to hear from you guys and what you got out of this conversation!
Hi Friends! In this episode, I talk with one of my best friends, and the first person who brought this podcast even into my brain. Brittany is a mentor to so many women through our young adult group, and also has a quality sense of humor (which is always appreciated here!). Brittany goes through how after her initial relationship with God began, she entered one of the hardest storms of her life. Instead of blaming God, she leaned into Him, and was able to survive the season, and come out stronger. I know you guys will love this one! Enjoy!
Hey Friends! In this episode, Shallee and I discuss how she pushed God to the side in her life for years, and how a situation that looked hopeless from the outside was where God did His biggest work. Shallee discusses her life from being a young wife, getting divorced young, a life in the sex industry, and being in an abusive relationship, to becoming a faithful woman of God and an active member in our church fam. Shallee is so inspirational to me, and I'm sure that you will feel the same. Her story is a testament to God never being too far away from us, and how He always provides a way out of our situations when we give our lives over. Grab your tissues friends, this is a story you can't miss.
On this week's episode, my guest is Hannah Tilton, a graduate of Central Michigan, and a friend of mine since I was 14! Heartache comes in many different forms, ranging from the death of a loved one, breakups, to losing friends. Hannah discusses with me the variety of heartaches that she has endured in her lifetime. We talk about the differences of dealing with heartache with Christ in our life, and without, and how the two differed for us during trials. Enjoy!
On this week's podcast, I talk with Eric about his journey of being a faithful non-believer, to opening his heart, and having his heart filled with Christ. We also dive into what a long distance relationship looks like and we are also joined with last week's guest, Laura. We end the episode with both Laura and Eric sharing some of their struggles, as well as some of the ways they now know how to handle issues that come up through dating long distance. Enjoy!
On today's podcast, Laura dives into her insecurities with thoughts of abandonment, and her journey in being able to uncover the reasons with feeling this way. I think a lot of us can relate to her uncertainty of her future, and how we tend to cling tightly to those around us when we are in that kind of storm. Laura also discusses the struggles of growing up with divorced parents, and how it has had a domino effect on her life even today. Don't miss this one guys! And don't forget to rate/subscribe!
Hey Friends! On this episode David and I cover topics ranging from my cool music collection, to the Enneagram, and eventually we hit the topic of "identity". David dives into his past and explains how he originally found identity in everything except God, and how he eventually turned to God, and found both his "primary identity" as well as his "secondary identity".
In this episode, we talk about how post-college depression is a very real thing, as well as how difficult the transition into the real world can be. Rachel is a 23 year old graduate from University of Dayton, and lives on her own with her 2 fur babies, Felix and Eleanor. This episode will resonate with so many people as they enter life after college with the same or similar struggles that Rachel explains, as well as how she connected deeper with God during this time of uncertainty.
Hey everyone! Welcome to my first episode of Hearts Unglued! On this episode, Kelly Greve talks about her struggles with anxiety in college, as well as the difference of being a "skyped-in christian" vs. a "real-life christian". We also talk about the dangers of comparison, and how the world views emotional access vs. how God wants us to access those emotions.
