At year’s end, lots to look back on. The two biggest themes that resonated for us were: 1. The disruption in the entertainment space via Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, among others. 2. The polarizing presidential election of 2016 that stole everyone’s attention and dominated media.  Even with the net neutrality vote this week, we are still pumped for 2018, and optimistic what the future of Modern Media Culture holds.

Social media (rightly) punished Kevin Spacey for his very wrong mea culpa, but Alyssa Milano turned social into a force for good. Plus: Burger King + bullying, what you need to know about autonomous driving, and more.

It’s not all roses! Oh boy 2-second ads; there’s too much content FYI, and all the other real-deal things we are worried about in 2017.

If Gil Scott-Heron was alive and writing today, his album The Revolution Will Not Be Televised might have ended in Streamed. With the recent launch of Facebook Watch and streaming networks filling the 2017 Emmy nominee lists (go Hulu), the inevitable prediction of yesteryear is coming to light. Not to mention, the NFL is now on Amazon (among others). We at Kiss & Tell are excited to be apart of this untelevised cord cutting revolution, and look optimistically into the near future of what a Facebook Watch Emmy nomination will look like.
