In part 2 of this episode on Misinformation in the Media the conversation covered how people can misinterpret data, showing compassion with people who think differently to you, "pseudo-activism" and cancel/call-out culture, and finally some of our own tips on not falling foul of misinformation.
Andrea and I decided to record a conversation we've had a few times on misinformation in the media, its implications and how to spot it. There was so much to cover that we did it in two parts. We tried our best despite all the tangents so hope you enjoy!
Welcome back to the Let Me Finish podcast! It's been a while and I'm excited to share the new episodes I have lined up. The first one is with my dear friend Claudia Mestre Moreno (IG: @clmmoreno). We've known each other since 2013 where we met at University and have been very close friends ever since. With a share interest in personal development and constantly on the look out for the next challenge, I couldn't think of anyone better to kick off the return of the podcast On this episode we discussed the "New Year, New Me" phenomenon which sweeps the worlds at the beginning of every year. We tried our best to cover what motivates us, why do we tend to fail on some new years resolutions, benefits of setting goals, and share some anecdotal experiences. As always, I hope you had as much fun listening to this as I did recording it! I'm always welcoming thoughts, comments, and feedback so pleased feel free to share what you think!
This is one for the closet music-snobs, Discover Weekly disciples and passenger-seat DJ's. In a (belated) festive special, I sat down with my good friend Maddy Crowther to delve into our personal relationships with music, reveal our top Spotify artists of the 2019 as well as provide you with some absolute bangers to for your mash. This is our Spotify Unwrapped. TIME FRAME What music means to us (00:52) Artists of the Year (13:09) Songs of the Year (29:56) Final rambling (46:42)
How do Flat Earth believers explain lava? Does Jesus apply to the R.A.V.E.N. criteria? Why shouldn't you drink the cool-aid? What's the Take It Easy Manifesto? And is Avril Lavigne really who she says she is? All these are common questions that have plagued peoples' minds and they are all answered in this episode of Let Me Finish. I'm joined by my colleagues Julie Hargreaves, Hattie Colwell, and Sam Bull to continue our conversation about cults and conspiracy theories. There's no other way to explain this other than having a listen!
For this episode I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Becky Heineke, founder of the fitness and well-being events company, Babes Balanced. We had a really interesting conversation about her upcoming event, Nude Glow Yoga (yes, that's correct!) as well as the importance and empowerment that comes with body positivity. Have a listen to find out more about what inspired her to create this event, find more details about the event, as well as hearing our thoughts on the attitudes towards body image in this day! We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Welcome back to another episode of Let Me Finish! This time I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with one of my oldest and closest friends, Hlonipa (Rabeca). We spoke about our stories of growing up in the confusing and entertaining world of a mixed-race child. As well as sharing childhood stories we addressed experiences of coming from a multi-racial and multi-cultural background that we face up to this day. We had such a fun time recording this episode and I hope you have just as much fun listening to it! You can find her on Snapchat: rabecaa And me on Instagram: @thomaszaqueu; Twitter: @tzaqueu
Welcome back to another episode of Let Me Finish! This time I am delighted to be joined by my friend and former Mozambican Olympian, Jannah Sonnenschein. We caught up and had a chat about her journey to the 2016 Rio Olympics, her experience there, and few messages for people who are chasing a dream. Hopefully you are equally, if not more, inspired by her story! You can find her on Instagram @jannah.sonnenschein Maarten van der Weijden Foundation link: https://bit.ly/2Zu0zVU (Apologies in advance for the sound quality as there were some connectivity issues during the recording. As per the first episode, this is all a learning experience and am learning as I go along!) Thank you for the continued support!
Hi everyone! This is a personal project I've been sitting on for the last 6 months so I'm delighted to finally get it going. Welcome to the first episode of my personal podcast called Let Me Finish. Why have I done this? I've met some truly incredible and inspiring people with whom I've shared some interesting conversations so I thought what better way to document them than via a podcast? The idea behind the name is that these discussions have turned quite intense due to the passion people bring into them that when they get on a roll you have no choice but to let them finish! This first episode, quite fittingly, is about "getting started". I'm sure many people will relate with the personal battles from having an idea and finally executing it - regardless of the outcome. This first episode with Cesar Guitunga Jr. is about our experiences of getting started, what has held us back, and what we've done in order to turn an idea into a project. All thoughts, comments, and (constructive) feedback welcome! As this is my first ever recording I've made some personal notes (i.e. speak slower, being more clear and concise, reducing my how much I say "um") as well as improving my editing skills so bare with as it's a learning process after all! Hope you enjoy and find this is another way to pass the time when commuting, cooking, or waiting for that person to text you back. Thomas :)
