Mike Love Radio: (singing). Mike Love: If no one has told you by now, your Mike is on. Yep, Mike Love here, Mike Love Radio Podcast, and we're up to no good again because there's just so much stuff happening. It's driving me crazy. I don't know what to do. I don't know if I want to laugh, I want to cry, I want to sing, I want to dance. I am totally confused, I can tell you that. Attorney David Smalls from Dallas, Texas is hanging out with us. The big boss, our producer and director EZ-E Eric is here, and Allen Day is here. So let's put our hands together for our esteemed guests. Mike Love: Thank you, fellas. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And we just got so much stuff to talk about. It's just mind boggling. And just when you thought everything was over with, Drew Brees had to go open his big mouth, and we'll talk about that momentarily. But I want to get right into this because David and I have had these conversations about the NFL and Colin Kaepernick. And Allen and I and Eric have talked about it and had in-depth conversations. One of the things that we want to really just get into, did the NFL lose sight on what's important to black players besides being compensated or wanting to have key positions in the league? And our episode title this week is the NFL Failures Episode Three, Season One. And I'm going to get David involved first and foremost. David, welcome to the show. David Smalls: Man, I have to say, it's a pleasure, and I'll do anything for Mike Love. And Mike, as you know, for the benefit of your audience, I'm an entertainment attorney. I do television, music, and film, a lot of social media. And you and I met on a deal, a major radio deal and I have the utmost respect for your opinions, even when we disagree, it's always fun talking to you. Mike Love: That's a lot. David Smalls: Even when we disagree, yeah. Mike Love: That is a lot. Well, the NFL, Roger Goodell... and we got some statements coming up from him momentarily that's come out. And I'm going to say, David, I told you, I told you, I told you. Now David and I got... man, I almost thought we were going to lose the relationship. I knew it wasn't really going to happen. David Smalls: No, you didn't. No, you didn't. You knew better. Mike Love: Allen, it was kind of bad. When you get into it with your attorney, okay, and he's supposed to be defending you, and we on the opposite sides. David Smalls: We were on opposite sides of Colin Kaepernick. Mike Love: Right. David Smalls: And yeah man, I'm a big Kap fan. I think that everything he's doing and that he did and was willing to pay the price for, he deserves respect. He deserves respect. The Big Boss Eric: I agree. David Smalls: Yeah. It's hard to not respect that. Mike Love: Yeah. And the thing that I said to you in the very beginning, I said, "David, I'm not disagreeing with you on that." All I'm saying is he had no help. To take on a challenge like that was a big risk in his career. And of course, there were other players who participated, but Roger Goodell said it best and we'll get into that in a minute, but- The Big Boss Eric: Wait. Did Roger Goodell say something that was actually good? Mike Love: Yeah. Well, I'm not talking about whether it's good or bad, but we got a comment from him and we're going to play that momentarily. David Smalls:
In this episode, the MLR Podcast Team with Mike Love, Teena Love, and the "Big Boss" Eric Glenn discuss the recent pandemic of COVID-19 and the results of protests around the world with the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. This is only the beginning of a continued conversation on race relations and police brutality in American cities. Mike Love: Your mic is on. Man, we got a lot of stuff to talk about in episode two. This episode is called The Last Breath. I'm telling you, I'm overwhelmed emotionally. I've cried. There's nothing to laugh about. I wanted to get involved with the protests and a lot of stuff that was going on, but it was almost impossible. But let's get a word from Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr: We say to our government, we even say to our FBI. We will not be harassed. We will not make a butchering of our custom. We will not be intimidated and we will be heard. Mike Love: The O'Jays, you've got to Give The People What They Want. There's so much going on in our country and we're going to talk about people of color. And I think we need to just talk about what has happened in the last nine or 10 days in this country. But before we get started, I got some special guests here with Mike Love. This is Mike Love radio, and I want to introduce to you a good friend of mine. We worked together almost 20 years ago. I want to say 25 years ago. Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Teena love. Teena Love: Hello, hello, hello. Mike Love: And also, Teena, thank you for joining us on the show. We got the big boss and he ain't taking no stuff today. Easy. The Big Boss Eric: None. Mike Love: None? The Big Boss Eric: None. Mike Love: E-Dub is here with me, my son here. The Big Boss Eric: Senator Booker said today [crosstalk 00:05:56]. Mike Love: What did he say? The Big Boss Eric: He said on the Senate floor debating with Rand Paul from Kentucky, the Senator from Kentucky. Mike Love: Wow. Teena Love: Wow. Mike Love: He needed to debate Rand Paul. That guy's like... And he's a doctor. I would never go to him. I would never go to him. But speaking of doctors and health, we've gone through a pandemic for the last 90 days and it's called COVID-19 and it's affected a lot of people. And even with this protest that we're going to get into for the murder of George Floyd, I don't know if the numbers have gone down, have they gone up? Where do we stand? Because we've gotten totally away from that. Do you guys have any information on that? The Big Boss Eric: Well, the CDC is currently projecting that more than 127,000 total US coronavirus deaths are expected by June 27th. The director is saying that protesters should be tested for the coronavirus because he sees an upcoming seeding event. Teena Love: Yeah. Mike Love: That's incredible. And you know what I was looking at a lot of those guys that were protesting were talking to like the national guard in DC and they were standing directly in their faces and none of the guard guys had mask on. What was that about? Teena Love: I think we're just forgetting because of the passion and the heat of everything, I think the people are just kind of forgetting. Now we've reopened and people are out again. And so I think we've kind of put our guards down a little bit, but you know, as Eric has just said, I mean, we have to remember, this is still lurking out there, so we have to be careful. Mike Love: Well, no pun intended put your guard down. The national guard had their guard down. And I mean, they did a good job of not being disturbed or taken by the words that were being said to them. But the mere fact that they were out there protecting us, they were unprotected. That's crazy. Teena Love: Yeah, a lot of people are. Mike Love: Wow. The Big Boss Eric: And you know... Mike Love: So we're up 24,000. The Big Boss Eric: Yeah. And you know,

As host of the show, Mike Love decides to interview his youngest son to see if they really have any similarities that make them truly a father and son match. Listen to see if they discover any new possibilities as well, to being just alike! Intro 1: Mike Love Radio Jingle. Mike Love: Well, if you haven't figured it out by now, your Mike is on. This is Mike Love Radio, and I'm of course Mike Love. And today we're talking about fathers and sons. This episode is Like Father, Like Son. And I got my son here with me today. Put your hands together for Eric Luther Pearson Glenn. Hey. Eric Glenn: The whole government name out there? Mike Love: Yeah, the whole thing. Like somebody's going to do something and you don't have any money in the bank. Eric Glenn: You're right. Mike Love: You're not worth anything. Eric Glenn: ... giving it back. Mike Love: Don't start whispering now like you don't want anybody to hear your voice. I got to talk real low because my dad just put my whole name out there and I don't know what's going on. Eric Glenn: Exactly. You got to be worried about stuff like that. Mike Love: No. Okay, well, they know it's you. We call you E-double sometimes, ELP sometimes. Any other nicknames you got? Eric Glenn: Big Boss. That was when I was a kid. Mike Love: I swear on a stack of Bibles, I don't know anytime someone has referred to you as Big Boss. Eric Glenn: You know who used to like to refer to me as that? My cousin Sherry out of Cleveland. Mike Love: Oh, okay. Okay. Wow. Because I had never heard that. I've never heard anybody. And what was that based on? You were telling people what to do? You never stopped talking? What was it? Eric Glenn: Probably all of the above if I had to guess. Mike Love: Big Boss. That's that's funny, because I've never heard that term coming from you. Eric Glenn: Yeah. I don't like to use it that much, but... Mike Love: You shouldn't because you're not a big boss. Eric Glenn: It was also the basis of my first email address. Bigboss111. Mike Love: Well, let me start bossing you around. Will you talk directly into your microphone, please, sir? Eric Glenn: I am. Can you not hear me? Mike Love: Yeah. A couple of times it sounded like you were leaning to the side and then coming back in. Eric Glenn: I probably was. I was trying to fade away from this identity crisis. Mike Love: Yeah. The whole big boss thing. Because that was kind of scary. Yeah. You were only dreaming that you are a big boss, that wasn't really happening. No, no. Eric Glenn: I didn't give myself the nickname, but it's what it is. Mike Love: Okay. Well they should be prosecuted and sent to jail for the rest of their lives. How your name be big boss? Anyway, Like Father, Like Son, and this is our first episode on a Mike Love the radio podcast. And one of the things, I'm glad I waited this long to do it because when it hit me, it was in the middle of the night, like when the angel came to Mary and said, "You should do your first podcast with your son." And I was like, "Wow, that would really, really be good." And so that's how we got to this- Eric Glenn: The most obvious choice. Mike Love: Well, it could be an obvious choice, but, the thing of it is people think that you're doing a podcast and you're supposed to have the stars on and it's supposed to be a little bit newsy, but we'll work our way into that. Eric Glenn: What exactly are you trying to say? That I'm nobody? Mike Love: No, I just said that you're no big boss. Yeah. That was basically it. Eric Glenn: You're still stuck on that huh? Mike Love: Yeah. I'm just kind of stuck on that. Because you threw the whole thing off. I can throw the script out that I had today. It's like, "I'm talking to my son, Big Boss." Oh my God. Eric Glenn: What can I say? Mike Love: Nothing. Don't say anything. Well, one of the things,
