On the week of Father's Day, which also falls on the same week as my wife and daughter's birthday, my fear of my kids' growing up is magnified. As fathers, I think we can all relate to the feeling of wanting to see our kids grow up and celebrate life with them, but also not want them to grow up. How do we deal with this? What can we control? And how do we ensure that we do the best we can to prepare them for life as adults. In this episode, I will talk a little about the history of Father's Day, our kids growing up, and what we can do ensure the most success for our kids when they ultimately grow up and start their adult lives. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/throughoureyespodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/throughoureyespodcast/support
Why can we not have conversations with each other? Why is it so hard for two men to come together, regardless of their background, and talk about issues respectfully, without resorting to anger and insults? My thoughts - because media and politicians tell us we shouldn’t. Join me as I sit and chat with the man who is my second best friend in the world, after my wife of course, as we discuss things that he and I discuss almost daily. Issues facing our country in 2020 are tough and require us to come together and love each other enough to respect each other, regardless of our culture and backgrounds. Our hope is that two men like Undreed and I can set that example, and lead to a country full of people who can have the conversations we need to move forward as a people. And now, off the bearded path. We all deal with heartache, pain, and suffering in different ways, and at different times. How do we deal with it when that suffering is caused by someone you know? What about someone you don't, and they create the worst suffering imaginable in your life? Can you forgive them? Before you answer, listen to the story of Tevan Harper, whose father was killed by a drunk driver. As Tevan prayed for three hours on the side of a road, not yet knowing what happened, he realized that ultimate loss. Hear his story, how he has dealt with his feelings about every part of it, and how it shaped him into the man he is today. I am a bearded man, part of a larger bearded community. But most importantly, I am a Christian man. As men, husbands, and fathers - How do issues, problems, and setbacks define us? Off the Bearded Path is a podcast to get beyond the beard, and talk about problems that affect all men, beard or no beard. Let’s come together to become men who work to build and lift each other up - in a world that wants to knock us down. Thanks so much for tuning in for episode 1, an introduction to Off the Bearded Path. I am Ken, also known as Bluegrass Bearded on social media . I love what I do, and I love my beard. I have great relationships with other men, and women, in the beard world – companies and other content creators. With what we do, though, our conversations and creativity are 99% beard related. But who are the people behind the beards, logos, and company names? What problems do they face? How do current events affect our lives as men in this world? That’s what I want to focus on. And to be clear, this podcast won’t just feature those in the beard community. This show is designed to talk to anyone, beard or no beard. I will sometimes have friends and colleagues from my hometown, local churches, local businesses, or anywhere outside of my area. The beauty of this show is that we can host anyone in the world – from the average joe like to me, to public figures or celebrities – anyone who would like to hang out and discuss the issues. We all face issues, and we all see those issues through a different lens. My goal here is to come together as men and discuss issues as men, and to find ways to life each other up and help us all move forward in this crazy world we live in. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/offthebeardedpath/support
