Zach and Matt discussed the importance of intentional stillness and silence in spiritual practice. They contrasted this with the modern expectation of constant activity. They explored how moments of quiet can be transformative. These moments allow people to connect with God. They help find meaning in routine practices like communion and the Lord's Prayer. Matt emphasized that it is important to give space for "the plane." These are those in-between moments. One should not immediately seek entertainment or distraction. The Bearded Reedling is a wetland songbird that's enjoying a boom in both population and popularity. Barely larger than a chickadee, the male reedlings are often photographed with their feathers puffed out to near spherical proportions, earning them the nickname of “the roundest bird in the world”. Reedlings breed across much of Europe and central Asia. But in the United Kingdom — where they're called Bearded Tits — the little birds were nearly wiped out in the 1940s. John Pemberton Gatewood was a notorious Confederate bushwhacker/guerrilla leader.  Born in Fentress County, Tennessee, in 1844, Gatewood's life took a dark turn after a Union attack on his family led him to abandon the Confederate army and become a guerrilla fighter. Bearded vultures build giant, elaborate nests that are passed down from generation to generation. And according to a new study, some of these scavengers have collected bits and bobs of human history over the course of centuries.
