During this podcast, two chill Canadians cover a range of topics related to Ontario’s leadership under Doug Ford and raise concerns about social media. From 1:12 to 24:36, Jaret provides a brief rundown about what Doug Ford’s agenda has been in Toronto. Then at 24:42, Jaret opens the discussion up to Recall Elections. Lastly, at 33:55 Franky delves into issues with social media including bad actors, election interference, and Russian meddling. Corrections/Updates: *Jaret intended to say reducing the council from 47 (not 45) to 25 members of the Toronto City Council. *Franky when discussing the Brexit Vote said that Leave received 51.6% of the vote, but found better sources that said it was actually projected at 51.9% of the vote. This is still a considerably slim margin. Since our podcast was recorded, Bill 5, the Better Local Government Act was passed due to the Progressive Conservative Majority. The Toronto City Council since then voted 27-15 on Monday, August 19th 2018 to legally challenge the Ontario government's bill. The Toronto City Council at this time voted to exhaust all legal avenues to challenge the Progressive Conservative government's legislation, including appealing any rulings and voted to postpone the upcoming municipal election if a delay becomes necessary in order to carry out the legal challenge (rather than these positions being appointed).
