A very high quality recording straight from the 3LO desk. (studio 302 at the time) recorded on a Rola Mk 3 on five seven inch reels. Unfortunately reel four of five is missing, if i ever find it i will add it the file. Levels are all over the place as this recording is taken off before any limiting at the transmitter. Most of the program with all the music from 5AM till 20 to 7 in October 1976, gets annoyed by a nuisance caller Flash away mate.
Evans is not grumpy at all and even seems to be enjoying this shift,but then it is Friday the 5th of August 1978 and his moods improved toward the end of the week.
Pre 5AM testing, this was quite popular for the earlybirds and insomniacs as Evans raved on a lot and messed around as he was not officially on air yet.

A few open sequences. Stations used to close down for the night and before they opened played brass band music to test the transmitter. Quite a fi recording if your ears are not to stuffed you can hear the 10kc adjacent channel heterodyne this was before they moved to 9kc spacing.
