What if the most painful moments of your life aren't random suffering, but sacred initiations designed to unlock deeper levels of spiritual maturity? In this episode, Raj and Alex explore the concept of "portals" - those intense transitional periods that feel like they'll never end, whether triggered by heartbreak, loss, or life-altering challenges. Unlike ordinary hardships, portals become transformational when you consciously choose to see them as opportunities for growth rather than just crisis. This shift in perspective transforms you from victim to initiate, moving you through the three ascending levels of spiritual development. What You'll Discover:• The Portal vs. Crisis Distinction - Why some people emerge from difficult times completely transformed while others remain stuck in victim consciousness, and how to consciously step into the portal experience• The Faith → Trust → Knowing Progression - The three distinct levels of spiritual initiation that portals are designed to activate, and how to recognize which level you're currently operating from• The Alchemy of Breakup Medicine - Why relationship endings might be the most potent transformation tool available, and the critical window of opportunity that determines whether you'll access its full healing power• The Art of Ritual During Chaos - Specific ceremonial practices for both releasing what's dying and designing what's being born, plus how to create sacred space even when your world is falling apart• The Hero's Journey Pattern in Personal Crisis - How every portal follows a predictable arc from descent into shadow to emergence as teacher, and why recognizing this pattern accelerates your transformation• Life's Curriculum of Surrender - The profound truth about why challenges keep showing up until you master specific spiritual lessons, and what happens when you finally stop resisting the initiationReady to Transform Your Relationship with Difficulty? This isn't just another conversation about getting through hard times - it's a masterclass in recognizing the sacred intelligence behind your struggles. If you've ever wondered why life keeps dealing you seemingly impossible cards, or if you're currently in the thick of a transition that feels endless, this episode will fundamentally shift how you relate to difficulty forever. Raj reveals why "God won't throw you to the wolves unless you have a wolf in you," and exactly how to access the gifts hidden inside your most challenging moments. Stop seeing your struggles as punishment and start recognizing them as your soul's curriculum for awakening.Connect with Raj:Instagram: @raj_janaSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/22Hrw6VWfnUSI45lw8LJBPLegal Disclaimer: The information and opinions discussed in this podcast are for educational and entertainment purposes only. Starting solids can feel like a confusing milestone but it does not have to be. In this episode, registered dietitian and infant feeding expert Malina Malkani joins us to unpack the latest research and practical strategies around baby led feeding, allergen introduction, and responsive feeding. Whether you are just starting solids or navigating food allergy concerns, this episode offers a reassuring and evidence-informed roadmap to help you feel confident in your feeding decisions. We explore the difference between baby led feeding and traditional purees, when and how to safely introduce top allergens like peanut and egg, and how early feeding habits can shape a child's long term relationship with food. Malina also shares common myths around choking, how to recognize readiness for solids, and why a flexible feeding approach often leads to less picky eating down the road. This is a must listen for parents looking to reduce the overwhelm, ditch the food fears, and start solids with clarity and calm.  Topics Covered In This Episode: Baby-led feeding versus traditional purees How to prevent food allergies through early exposure Signs of readiness for solid food Responsive feeding and hunger cues How to reduce choking risk with first foods Safe ways to introduce peanut butter egg dairy and more How feeding flexibility supports picky eating prevention Tips for easing the mental load of starting solids Show Notes: Order my new BLW + FOOD ALLERGY PREVENTION cookbook! Dr. Casey Means: The New Surgeon General Talks About Good Energy And Talking Responsibilty For Your Health

    The B.rad Podcast

It’s time for a rebroadcast of a wonderful interview with my old friend, Dr. Casey Means, where she talked about the launch of her book, Good Energy. It has been a year since we talked on the eve of her book launch, which was just about to go number one and become a New York Times bestseller, and in other news, Dr. Casey has just been appointed to become the Surgeon General of the United States of America. Amazing news, a bit controversial these days since everything in politics is controversial, but long time listeners know that I steer completely clear of politics on this show, however I did want to give a plug for Dr. Casey and encourage you to listen to this interview if you didn't hear it the first time around, as she now rises to the highest position in America for doctors. In this episode, you will learn all about Dr. Casey Means’ book Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health, which she wrote with her brother, Calley Means, and hear her talk about the broken medical industrial complex—a subject that is of deep significance for her since (as she talked about in her first appearance on the show) she used to be a dutiful doctor, a highly trained throat surgeon who was just trying to do her best, until she realized how dysfunctional the whole system was. She had a realization: no one was really getting better. They were, however, coming in for more surgery, and this sparked her decision to pursue a career in the alternative health world instead, an issue that only became more important and personal to her after she experienced the deep pain and frustration of watching her mother die of a preventable disease. This is a great episode to listen to if you want to learn about all the nuances of our profit-driven medical system, the science and details of how mitochondrial function essentially represents the essence of our health, why mitochondrial dysfunction represents the whole cause of all disease, the scary statistic about Americans and metabolic syndrome risk factors that shocked me, and more! Casey Means, MD, Surgeon General of the United States of America, is a Stanford-trained physician, the Chief Medical Officer and Co-founder of metabolic health company Levels, and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Disease Reversal and Prevention. Her mission is to maximize human potential and reverse the epidemic of preventable chronic disease by empowering individuals with tech-enabled tools that can inform smart, personalized, and sustainable dietary and lifestyle choices. Check out her website and visit CaseyMeans.com/goodenergy to read her best-selling book, Good Energy. TIMESTAMPS: Sixty-eight percent of Americans are classified as metabolically unhealthy. [03:08] It's a totally unstainable path that we are on as a country. [09:04] After becoming a head and neck surgeon, Dr. Means realized that she was not improving people's health. She wanted to focus on prevention. [12:00] Cancer is a metabolic dysfunction. We are focusing on the wrong problem. [14:41] The health care industry is fast growing and it makes more money when you are sick than when you are well. [20:02] Everything in moderation is a very bad way to look at diet. [29:48] There is such a thing as bad food. [35:19] You need to understand your own body and read the signals your body sends to you. [36:23] We have normalized not feeling well, that we don't notice it. [41:55] When we eat processed foods, they are not benign. It's more than just calories. [46:53] The ingredients in the processed foods trigger your desire to overeat. The bigger the glucose spike, the bigger the crash [53:54] High fructose corn syrup is in so many foods and is very problematic. [58:39] There are five foods that you want to include to support your mitochondrial function. [01:01:36] In a few months, if you follow those suggestions, your markers on your blood tests will show a huge difference if you were pre-diabetic. [01:09:24] Why isn't the medical system focused more on prevention? [01:15:03] LINKS: Brad Kearns.com BradNutrition.com B.rad Whey Protein Superfuel - The Best Protein on The Planet! Are you struggling to attract the right donors and volunteers to your nonprofit? The secret might lie in your organization's vision and mission statements. These foundational elements are more than just corporate jargon – they're powerful tools that can transform your fundraising efforts and organizational impact. In this eye-opening episode, I'm joined by Dan Johnson, a seasoned nonprofit coach who has raised over $3 million for new nonprofits and helped turn around struggling organizations. Dan shares his expertise on crafting compelling vision and mission statements that resonate with donors and align with your organization's goals. Why Vision and Mission Statements Matter Dan reveals why these often overlooked elements are crucial for nonprofit success: - They provide clarity and focus for your organization's efforts - They help attract donors and volunteers who share your values - They guide decision-making and strategic planning - They differentiate your nonprofit from others in the same space Key Insights on Crafting Effective Statements Learn how to create vision and mission statements that drive results: - The five essential components of a powerful nonprofit vision - How to craft a problem statement that resonates with donors - Tips for creating a mission statement that highlights your unique approach - The importance of incorporating specific, measurable goals Putting Your Vision into Action Discover practical strategies for integrating your vision and mission into every aspect of your organization: - How to use your statements in marketing and fundraising efforts - Ways to incorporate your vision into staff and volunteer onboarding - Tips for regularly reviewing and refining your statements Don't miss this opportunity to revolutionize your nonprofit's approach to vision and mission statements. Tune in to gain insights that will help you attract the right supporters, increase your impact, and create lasting change in your community. Want to skip ahead? Here are key takeaways: 06:28 Crafting an Effective Problem Statement Get specific about the issue being addressed, talking to those affected, and using their language. A well-crafted problem statement helps donors connect emotionally and understand the organization's unique approach to creating change. 19:38 Setting Measurable Goals and Staying Focused Include specific, measurable goals in vision statements to drive accountability. Stay focused on the core problem and not getting distracted by unrelated opportunities. Regular review of vision and goals helps keep your organization on track. 30:47 Developing Effective Value Statements Another role of value statements is in attracting and retaining staff and volunteers. Limit values to three core principles and including specific ways the organization upholds them. This approach helps create accountability and ensures the desired culture is maintained. 34:51 Crafting a Unique Mission Statement An effective mission statement clearly communicates an organization's unique approach. Explicitly state what makes the nonprofit different from others addressing similar issues, which can help with fundraising and marketing efforts. Dan Johnson Dan is a nonprofit coach that helps business owners and professionals create nonprofits that last. Dan has raised over $3 million for new nonprofits, turned around several struggling organizations, and helped over 30 nonprofit leaders create sustainable nonprofits. Dan is a 4x nonprofit founder, former impact evaluator, and nonprofit coach. Accumulate Health

Play Episode Listen Later May 19, 2025 8:08

In today's episode, I'm talking about the natural sugar found in an apple and added sugar. An average apple has about 20 grams of sugar in it. This is primarily in the form of fructose and this fructose is beautifully held in a whole foods matrix within the apple. This is why the glycemic index is around 35 and the glycemic load of an apple is around 5. What this means is that the 20 grams of sugar in an apple is in the lower 1/3 of foods consumed related to raising glucose. Studies actually show that having an apple before a meal is an effective strategy in decreasing the sugar response of your body to that meal in people who already have impaired glucose tolerance. We have done many challenges over the years related to protein intake and sugar reduction, but let me be clear, unless you're allergic to a whole food, like an apple, I would not stop eating whole foods so that you can partake of a processed food that has more protein or fat in it, or less sugar. That is not health accumulation, that is diet culture. ➡️Healthy Meals Made Easy PDF https://go.drwholeness.com/healthy-meals-made-easy -------- Connect with Dr. Matt online:

ABOUT THIS EPISODE: In this episode, I'm joined by my friend and messaging expert Brandon Lucero for a powerful deep-dive into what really makes content convert. We go beyond surface-level strategies and into the psychology of messaging that drives demand—without relying on hype or constant how-to posts. Brandon breaks down his three levels of trust that every business needs to build with its audience, and how to shift from over-teaching to creating true resonance and relevance. We talk about how to stop overwhelming your audience, the difference between encyclopedic content and TED Talk-level impact, and why self-identifying content is one of the most effective ways to generate demand before ever mentioning your offer. Brandon also shares practical examples of how to structure your messaging, content, and even Reels to attract aligned clients who are ready to buy—not just engage. If you're ready to stop chasing attention and start creating true connections and conversions, this episode is a must-listen! Liked this episode? Intellect is important. Using your expertise to really showcase and break down processes in a logical way that is digestible for someone to understand is important, but that doesn't always lead to a sale. In fact, a lot of times that can kind of put you in the friend zone where people are engaging with your content. Maybe they find you valuable. They find you inspiring, they think that you're really smart, but they're not buying from you.” - Julie Solomon  “   When it comes to information, I always talk about teaching concepts. Don't teach them how to actually do something, but what's the concept they need to learn? And then if you follow it up with like a metaphor or analogy or something like that, now the brain automatically goes, oh, that makes sense. I get that” - Brandon Lucero GUEST RESOURCES: Brandon Lucero @iambrandonlucero The New Generation Entrepreneur RESOURCES: [JOIN MY VISIBILITY TRAINING] With just 1 hour a week, my proven content framework will help you refine your messaging and turn your offers into consistent, scalable sales. Fishing Big Rivers-- Thoughts, Tips and Strategies

Let's talk about fishing big rivers. For the most part, all of us here at Troutbitten are river anglers, meaning not much stillwater. Furthermore we're mostly wade anglers. We spend most of our time wading rather than floating, because we enjoy it, and because in a lot of cases, wading gives us the best chance for success. But over the years I've noticed some misunderstandings about where and how we fish. I hear from a lot of reader, listeners and watchers of Troutbitten stuff. And one thing that frequently comes up is an assumption that all of our waters are small to medium sized. But that's not true. Each of us spends plenty of time on big rivers. We all have our favorite rivers outside of this region. We've all traveled. And even around here, we have opportunities to fish big rivers. So, what's big? I'll say a big river is one that you could float. And it's probably the kind of river where you can't wade all of it.So we're here to talk about fishing big water. In previous podcasts, we've spent some time talking about specific tactics and strategies for fishing small water, so let's do the same for big rivers. Each of us has a few tricks and some plans for getting the most out of a big water trip. We've made the mistakes, and we've all shared among ourselves how we eventually learned to not only manage big water but have some of the best days of the season.I always say that fishing big water and fishing it well takes a lot of discipline. We talk about all of that and a lot more in this podcastMy friends, Matt Grobe, Bill Dell, Austin Dando and Josh Darling join me for a great discussion.ResourcesVIDEO: Troutbitten | Reading Water in Levels, Lanes and SeamsREAD: Troutbitten | Never Blame the FishREAD: Troutbitten | Fishing Big Water -- One Key TipVisitTroutbitten WebsiteTroutbitten InstagramTroutbitten YouTubeTroutbitten Facebook Thanks to TroutRoutes:Use the code TROUTBITTEN for 20% off your membership athttps://maps.troutroutes.com Thanks to SkwalaUse the code, TROUTBITTEN10 for 10% off your order athttps://skwalafishing.com/

There's an endearing saying that the U.S. surgeon general's primary role is to be the nation's family doctor. They represent America's medical community, educate the public on current health risks, and wield tremendous influence over medical and scientific information. On Thursday, President Trump nominated Dr. Casey Means to take on this important role. Casey's background is unique. After attending Stanford Medical School, she dropped out of her residency program in her ninth year, when she realized the course wasn't addressing the root causes of illness. Since then, she, along with her brother Calley Means, co-founded Levels, a company focused on glucose monitoring, and the pair co-authored Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health. In recent years, she has been a leading figure in the Make America Healthy Again movement, speaking out against pharmaceutical, food, and chemical companies, and advocating for “root cause” medicine. We had Casey on Honestly back in 2022, and today, we're replaying that episode so you can better understand who Casey Means is, what she believes, how we got so sick, and how she wants to tackle chronic illness. The Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS) has historically lost mass, significantly contributing to sea-level rise, with intensified losses in West Antarctica and parts of East Antarctica, particularly from 2011–2020.  However, between 2021 and 2023, driven by anomalous precipitation, the AIS experienced a record-breaking mass gain, even reversing trends in critical glacier basins like Totten, Moscow, Denman, and Vincennes Bay. Jimmy and Americans' Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss whether all this hullaballoo about climate change and melting ice caps may be so much hot air. Plus segments on Israeli police beating up Hasidic Jews in Jerusalem for protesting the Gaza genocide, Donald Trump signing a ban on gain of function research and former congressman and presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich discussing the condescendingly warmongering ways of Arkansas senator Tom Cotton.
