Hey friends, hope you enjoyed the music because I'm really excited to share something special with you. I've partnered with my friends at Heavenspire Music — a Christian record label, deeply rooted in Scripture and passionate about creating music filled with the Word of God. We're launching the Heavenspire Lyric Challenge. If you want to be part of it, simply email your original Christian song lyric or poem by June 15th to the email in the description below/shown on screen. Team Heavenspire will review all entries, and the winning lyric will be professionally edited and produced into a full song, with the possibility of an official release on the label. The winner will be announced at the end of June, right here on the show. If the Lord has given you a lyric burning in your heart, don't hold back — go submit it today. I can't wait to see what God does through this. Good luck, and God bless you! Jennifer Welch returns to the Daily Beast Podcast and unloads on the “broken people” surrounding Donald Trump, from Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth to JD Vance, Jeff Bezos, and the billionaire class she says has traded conviction for obedience and spectacle. In a blistering conversation with Joanna Coles, Welch argues Trump is entering a “deathbed confession era,” openly admitting the impulses that now define his presidency as cabinet members compete to flatter him, Democrats stumble through what she calls a once-in-a-generation political layup, and MAGA figures turn loyalty into humiliation rituals. They dive into Trump's obsession with punishing perceived disloyalty, the escalating “rat-fucking” of JD Vance, the strange psychology of the ultra-rich bending the knee to Trump, the return of the Epstein fallout, and why Welch believes Democrats are still failing to meet the moment even as Trump openly declares he doesn't care about the midterms. In this message from our Soundtracks and Stories series, Zachary Guillot explores the powerful song “Deathbed” by Relient K and the uncomfortable beauty of God's grace. Through the story of a broken man reflecting on a lifetime of regret, addiction, and failure, we're reminded that grace was never meant to be fair—it was meant to save. Looking at the thief on the cross, the parable of the workers in the vineyard, and the radical mercy of Jesus, this sermon challenges the idea that anyone is too far gone for redemption. No matter how wasted your past may feel, Jesus still meets people in their darkest moments and invites them home. Scripture References: Luke 23:39–43 Matthew 20:1–16 Romans 3:23 Isaiah 53:6

Are we seeing Gun-tube die before our very eyes? This has become a wildy popular topic over the past week or two, and I thought it deserved its own conversation. For better or for worse, the community has been driven by digital content creators for the past decade, and in some cases longer. Information shared, inspiration sparked, goals set, myths disproven, and all because we had the tools available to connect to each other through the various platforms. However, taking an objective look at things in 2026, we've certainly fallen from grace, and definitely morphed into something uglier, and far less pure than it was originally imagined to be. No, I don't think it's dying, but I do think we're experiencing some uncomfortable but necessary changes. In this episode, I do my best to explain, and give some perspective.Visit our sponsors! Our Patreon - www.patreon.com/prepared_mindset_podCustom Night Vision - www.customnightvision.comUS Duty Gear - https://usdutygear.com/ code 'PreparedMindset'

Edward VI gets overlooked. He's usually just the boy between Henry and the interesting women. But here's what people miss: Edward didn't just die and leave a mess. He made choices. Theologically driven, politically sophisticated choices. From his deathbed. At fifteen. This week's What If looks at the Devise for Succession, the document Edward drafted in his own hand that bypassed both his sisters and put Lady Jane Grey directly in line for the throne. We look at the pressure campaign he ran on his terrified council, and then ask: what if he'd backed down? Spoiler: the cruel irony is that his plan failed completely and the thing he was trying to protect probably survived because of that failure. Learn more about your ad choices. Kory Pearn never set out to start a media company. A fire captain with over two decades in the fire service, his journey into building Crackyl Magazine came after a life altering moment that forced him to confront everything he had built. After nearly losing his life to congestive heart failure, Kory found himself questioning his identity, his pace of life, and the sustainability of how he was living. In an instant, everything he had could have been taken away, including the very things he was working so hard to protect. In this episode of The Chief Exchange, Kory shares how that experience reframed everything. We talk about firefighter wellness, why you do not just get lucky in life, and how you must prepare and control what you can before it is too late. He explains the danger of building a life you cannot slow down, why what you are not changing you are choosing, and how dedication without sustainability becomes self destruction disguised as commitment. We also dive into actionable steps for building something on the side while still working in public safety, the importance of curiosity and tenacity, and why you just have to start instead of waiting for the perfect moment. From stoicism and maintaining your why, to managing the balance between work and home life, to even a soft launch of his upcoming book, this conversation is about perspective, discipline, and building a life that can withstand anything, because what you try to avoid may still happen anyway.

LIV Golf might've learned something from Andy's weekend of garage sales as they're looking for buyers ahead of the 2027 season. Andy joins Brendan! from a very empty house for this First of the Month Recording packed with - you guessed it! - more LIV news from the golf story of the year. As first reported by Josh Carpenter, Yasir Al-Rumayyan is OUT as Chairman of LIV Golf, leaving his post on the league's Board of Directors as the Saudi PIF pulls its funding at the end of 2026. LIV replaced Yasir with two new board members on Thursday, one of whom has a long history of joining companies cleaning up the pieces after filing for bankruptcy. Andy and Brendan bat around some LIV takes, including what value, if any, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm might actually bring to the PGA Tour if they were to return. Should LIV fold or look drastically different moving forward, it's decided that the biggest winner could be the DP World Tour with players such as David Puig and Tyrrell Hatton playing there full-time next year. Meanwhile, the PGA Tour is playing this week for another $20 million purse at Trump Doral, where True American Patriot Cameron Young broke the course record on a day with no wind in Miami. Justin Rose debuted his shiny new McLaren clubs en route to a disappointing score, but Brendan is especially appalled at the retail price of these new irons. In yet another example of wild money being spent on golf for unknown levels of return, Andy and Brendan then read a statement from Motor City Golf Club that accompanied a logo release for their first TGL season in 2027. After a Playoff Basketball Minute, Kevin Van Valkenburg stops by to share a B. Draddy Flashback Friday about an International Presidents Cup legend winning at Doral. Recently I read a copy of the alumni magazine from a mainline Protestant seminary. It was very well done and showcased a number of people, both faculty and students, all fervent in their faith and zealous to serve the Lord. It presented the seminary, as it intended to do, as a place of thriving faith, burgeoning mission, and robust spiritual health, which I'm sure it is. Reading it you would never know that the seminary was part of a denomination (which I will not identify) that is on its deathbed.

They also dig into his work with the Stangle Brothers before they became head writers for Letterman, and the path that eventually led him into some truly memorable corners of the comedy world. That includes being on hand for Dave's unforgettable Billy on the Street segment, shot and featured on Late Show just before Dave retired.Ritch also shares the origin story of Deathbed, which he co-founded with Ben Zelevansky and others, and talks about the unique creative lane it occupies — where comedy writers get to let their darker instincts roam. Mike and Ritch also discuss the latest story featured on the platform, written by none other than prolific Letterman writer Steve Young. To close the episode, Mike shares the full Billy on the Street clip discussed during the conversation, and we extend our sincere thanks to Worldwide Pants for the many ways they continue to support the show by allowing us to use these pieces of Letterman history. Then, as always, if you feel like doing something noble today, head over to Hello-Deli.com — the only place on Earth to get official Late Show with David Letterman merchandise, courtesy of the one and only Rupert Jee. In this remaster episode I'm talking to Carla Wills-Brandon about her book 'Heavenly Hugs: Comfort, Support, and Hope From the Afterlife' Does life end at death? The answer is no! The nearly 2,000 cases of departing visions and visitations from deceased relatives and friends collected by the author prove that there is life after death. At the moment of physical death, departed loved ones return to the dying to ease travel from this life to the next. Friends, family, and healthcare workers also report seeing these loving spiritual travel guides. Such encounters--reported by individuals from a wide variety of cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds--clearly illustrate that the personality, soul, or consciousness does not disappear or "die." To live our lives to the fullest, we must relieve ourselves of the false notion that death is the end. Departing visions help us do this. Heavenly Hugs will introduce you to both historical and modern-day departing visions, proving: The dying have been reuniting with the departed--for centuries Departed loved ones escort the dying to the other side or next dimension Something has often been seen leaving the physical body at the moment of death Famous people have experienced beautiful departing visions Bio Carla Wills-Brandon always wanted to do two things professionally: be of service to others, and write. After receiving a scholarship to California State University, Fresno, she graduated with high honors and a degree in psychology. She then went on to finish a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Fresno, an APA approved school. Her husband, Michael “Tex” Brandon, also received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from this institution. After publishing eight books, and developing a successful private practice as a State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Carla decided to go back to school. Not interested in treading a traditional education path she completed a two year course of study and dissertation in a Doctor of Philosophy in Holistic Nutrition program at Clayton College of Holistic Health. Her dissertation was titled “A Four Pronged Approach to the Holistic Treatment of Food Disorders.” Carla has published 12 books, one of which was a "Publishers Weekly Best Seller." She is considered to be one of the leading researchers into deathbed visions. In her private practice, grief work, lectures and workshops she teaches people how to integrate these unusual encounters into everyday living. Currently, she is working on another project involving the mysterious departing visions of the dying. Carla and her family live on an island just off the coast of Texas in a 100-year-old historical home, which recently survived hurricane Ike in 2008. Welcome to part two of our deathbed regrets series. Last week I covered the first four regrets—this week I'm finishing with the final six, and these might hit even harder because they're about living on autopilot, postponing joy, and holding grudges.   Regret #5: Not choosing happiness. Happiness isn't something that happens to you—it's a daily decision.  Regret #6: Not taking the risk. People don't regret what they tried and failed at—they regret what they never tried.  Regret #7: Not prioritizing self-care. Not bubble baths—actual care. Meeting your needs, protecting your energy, honoring your body.  Regret #8: Not taking the vacation. Both literally and metaphorically. People regret not traveling while they had their health, but this is also about not postponing joy.  Regret #9: Not living in the present. Harvard research found we spend 47% of our waking hours thinking about something other than what we're doing—and it makes us less happy. Presence isn't passive, it's a practice. Regret #10: Not forgiving. Both others and yourself. Forgiveness research shows lower stress, better cardiovascular health, better sleep.    You have enough history to know where your regret lies. Do you have enough courage to stop rehearsing it and start rewriting it?

On August 6, 1930, Supreme Court Justice Joseph Force Crater stepped into a taxi on West 45th Street and vanished without a trace. For 27 days, nobody reported him missing—not his wife waiting in Maine, not his Tammany Hall cronies, not the courts. When the story finally broke, it became the most famous missing persons case in New York history.Judge Crater was a rising star in the city's legal world—a Tammany Hall insider who'd just landed a prestigious judgeship paying $23,000 a year (about $450,000 today). But he was also tangled up in corruption, office-buying schemes, and shady real estate deals. He had a taste for Broadway chorus girls, speakeasies run by gangsters, and envelopes stuffed with cash. His disappearance rocked the city and captivated the nation for decades. The phrase “to pull a Crater” entered the popular lexicon. Psychics came forward with tips. Grand juries investigated. Deathbed confessions emerged decades later. This week, Tom takes you through one of the city's greatest unsolved mysteries—a story of Tammany corruption, Broadway nightlife, and Depression-era New York. Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, stepped into eternity last week and a letter was shared saying that he had given his life to Christ just prior to his passing. What makes this moment so striking isn't just the confession itself, but the way he framed it. In the letter it seemed he wasn't entirely convinced in the traditional sense. Instead, he described his decision more like a Pascalian wager, a calculated choice made in the face of uncertainty, suffering and mortality that raises some uncomfortable and fascinating questions. Is faith still faith if it merely begins with a wager? Can belief be genuine, even if doubt never fully leaves? And what do we make of so-called deathbed conversions? JULIE MANET, THE VALUE OF TRANSIENCE, AND THE AVANT-GARDE Colleague Sebastian Smee. Berthe Morisot's legacy was carried on by her daughter, Julie Manet, to whom Berthe wrote a tender deathbed letter expressing that Julie had provided her solely with happiness. Morisot's work exemplifies the concept of "transience value"—the idea, later articulated by Freud, that the fleeting nature of beauty makes it more precious. Her paintings of adolescents and domestic scenes celebrated the present moment precisely because it was always changing. While the next generation of the avant-garde, such as Van Gogh and Munch, reacted against Impressionism's lack of structure, they built directly upon its liberation of color. Although these newer artists sought more permanence, the Impressionist dedication to capturing fugitive effects proved to have lasting power, validating Morisot's vision of finding profound truth in the ephemeral.
