Two women who are over 40, overweight and over it. They are making a solid attempt at turning it all around, and telling you all about it.
We're back behind the mics, talking about the melting elderly, the legality of flippers in the pool, hypnosis, the power of identification, priorities, health updates, existential updates, disappointing belches and plenty of nonsense.
By order of Rhonda, Lesley flies solo for this episode to talk about her Bariatric Surgery experience so far, five months post-surgery.
After a bit of a break, we get back to getting off-topic. How much could happen in the world in 2 years? Oh, right. Radio Wide Load is glad to be back, and still completely over many, many things.
In this long-delayed episode (sorry!), we are joined by our friend April who is an amazing example of attacking new personal challenges over the age of 40 and seeing life as an evolving process. We talk supplement regimes, training, the reason behind Rhonda’s “comfortable” appearance, and body parts that need not be discussed (but you know they are, come on).
In the tenth episode, Rhonda and Lesley smuggle contraband into the library and talk about bad moods, horrible jokes, failing cataloguing class, their go-to podcasts, the power of therapy, complicated food relationships, shifting priorities and sloppy joes.
We’re finally back! In this episode, Radio Wide Load takes a little field trip to Renaissance Massage Therapy Clinic and Spa in London, Ontario, where Rhonda and Lesley get pedicures and talk about therapy, air fryers, cauliflower ear, phones with cameras in ‘em, and the frailty of the human condition. That last one might be a bit of a stretch, but you’ll have to listen to find out.
Lesley's sister Norah is this episode's special guest star, and she showed up with her own notes and questions about previous episodes. Whoa. We cover a lot of ground, including what it's like to be raising teenage daughters in today's diet culture world, ANOTHER embarrassing gym story, and a cool new band called "Hepatitis flip-flop".
For our seventh episode, Rhonda's massage therapist Sue Ruhe of Renaissance Massage Therapy Clinic & Spa in London, Ontario joins us to talk about Rhonda's improvement (on a cellular level). We also talk about some personal achievements when it comes to pushing out of our comfort zones, and Lesley tells the saddest soft drink related story you've ever heard. And as usual, Rhonda takes things tooooo far. Repeatedly.
Lesley's friend Ryan sits in on Episode 6 to discuss addiction, recovery, weight loss and the amazing process of reclaiming one's health. Pandas, KISS boots and the potential for black market nipples...this episode covers a lot of ground!
For episode 5, we welcome Chelsea as our guest! We talk about Chelsea's awesome weight loss, the magic of v-neck t-shirts, the curse of Rhonda's Easter chocolate, and Lesley's super amazing social skills.
The Radio Wide Load Ladies briefly emerge from winter hibernation for an abbreviated episode (thanks a bunch, Bellsy...jeez). In this episode: Was Rhonda stalking Lesley's dad in the bulk food store? Why is asking for help such a big deal? How powerful is that Canada Food Guide? Does anyone really know where their cowbell is? Tune in to episode 4 to find out!
We're back with Episode 3 which involves what the Rock may or may not be cookin', Lesley's airport ruse, and what is very much NOT happening for Rhonda right now.
After updating you on both the great frozen treat threat of 2017, a pants shopping odyssey and what happened with Lesley's triathlon thing, Rhonda and Lesley talk about various weight loss gimmicks they've witnessed (and may or may not have purchased) over the years.
Rhonda and Lesley spend their Civic Holiday hanging out with the Legal Team (3 dogs) and introducing themselves in this maiden voyage of Radio Wide Load. We also discuss support systems (or lack thereof) when one is trying to ditch excess weight and get healthy.
