Do you crave connection but keep everyone at arm's length? You might be what Tracy calls an "accidental asshole." You're not trying to be a jerk. You built that wall as a kid to survive. But now it's blocking the very thing you want most. You date with one foot in, one foot out. You need drama to feel anything. When someone actually wants to love you? Boring. Or terrifying. Stop waiting for someone who won't trigger you. That person doesn't exist. The work is dealing with the discomfort of letting someone in. In this episode, Tracy explores: * Why you need tension to feel attraction * How the "perfect person" fantasy keeps you unavailable * Why you get pissed when you actually get attached * Why you contact exes months later * How to feel without the protective facade "Emotionally available people do not seek out unavailability." ~ Tracy Crossley

What began as a $4-an-hour summer gig at Western Pest has grown into Hoffman's Exterminating, a six-branch powerhouse ranked among PCT's Top 100—and CEO Bill Hoffman is still at the helm. Certified as an entomologist and PCQI, Bill joins the Blue-Collar Twins to unpack how pig-farm discipline, union-shop lessons, and a “coach-not-tech” mindset fueled steady, one-to-three-hires-per-year growth—and landed Hoffman's as the official pest-control partner of the Philadelphia Eagles. You'll hear: Door-Knock Origins – mortgaging sweat equity into a one-man startup while moonlighting at a deli and landscaping crew.Coach's Playbook – shifting from “crawl-space hero” to head coach and writing SOPs that free his team to execute.Eagles & MLS Deals – the referral chain—from a mom-and-pop acquisition to MLS partner to NFL sidelines—that proves community karma pays.Culture Moat – 20-year employees earn lifetime health insurance; paid volunteer hours keep staff and community for life.Seasonality Hacks – 55 % commercial mix, exclusion division, and weather “audibles” that keep 70 techs busy through Northeast winters.Mission Beyond Margins – board seats at two Ronald McDonald Houses, sustainability work at Lincoln Financial Field, and why “quality over quantity” still drives every decision. Stick around for Bill's blunt advice on moving from technician mindset to $30 million CEO—and why the best companies know when to act big and when to act small. In this episode, Jerry addresses a question he received multiple times in one week from chiropractors: Why are there so many website visitors and so few new patients? He breaks down this common concern and explains why these numbers often don't align in the way chiropractors expect. The episode offers perspective, highlights common misconceptions, and gives practical advice for improving website conversion. The Misunderstanding: Expectations vs Reality Many chiropractors expect a high percentage of website visitors to become new patients. In reality, this is not how online marketing works—especially with cold traffic. Chiropractors who believe they should convert 50% or more of website visitors into patients are setting themselves up for disappointment. Even a 6% conversion rate on cold website traffic is considered very good. Jerry explains that in his experience with info products and affiliate marketing, getting a 3% conversion rate was difficult. A 6% conversion would have been life-changing. Chiropractors need to calibrate their expectations and understand what's normal. Cold Traffic vs Warm Leads One of the biggest issues is confusing cold traffic with warm leads. Cold traffic includes people who: Find your site through Google or ads Have no prior relationship with you Haven't been referred and don't trust you yet These people convert at a very low rate. In contrast, warm leads are: Referred by friends or family Already familiar with you through social media or community presence Former patients or those who've interacted with your brand Warm leads should convert at a much higher rate. If you're only converting a small percentage of these, something is seriously wrong. Website Traffic Doesn't Equal Potential Patients Looking at gross visitor numbers assumes every visitor is a potential new patient, which is simply not true. Website visitors may include: Bots or spam traffic Competitors Existing patients checking hours or contact info People outside your service area Accidental clicks Unless you're running a tightly controlled ad campaign with a direct funnel, gross website numbers are a poor indicator of performance. Conversion Isn't Always Linear Unless your practice relies 100% on online scheduling, you can't assume that every new patient came through the website. People may call, text, message you on social media, or walk in. If your site visitors and new patient numbers aren't lining up, it could be because they're taking other paths into your practice. Trying to compare total website visits with total new patients is misleading because: Not every visitor is a qualified lead Not every new patient visits the website before booking A Volume Reality Check Jerry gives a basic example of how conversion typically plays out: 500 website visitors 3% click on the “schedule now” button = 15 people 50% of those actually schedule = 7 to 8 people 75% of scheduled appointments show up = about 5 to 6 new patients This is a realistic scenario and shouldn't be considered a failure. In fact, it's fairly normal. Google Business Profile (GBP) Can Be Even More Misleading Many chiropractors see huge views on their GBP listings—1,800 or more in a month—but still get only a handful of new patients. That gap can be discouraging, but again, it's common. The takeaway isn't that you should ignore these numbers but that you need to understand what they really mean. Visibility without conversion isn't useful unless your site and profile are compelling enough to get people to take action. How to Improve Website Conversion Jerry offers several practical ways to improve your chiropractic website's performance: 1. Simplify and organize your site. Avoid clutter. Too many chiropractic sites overwhelm visitors with too much information and no clear direction. Think of your website like a path through the woods—give people obvious cues about where to go next. 2. Make your content easy on the eyes. Presentation matters. Use formatting that's readable, clean, and skimmable. Don't dump a wall of text on your visitors. 3. Use patient-centered language. Skip the jargon. Don't talk about “optimizing health potential.” Focus on problems and solutions your ideal patients care about. 4. Add trust signals. Include real photos, staff bios, patient reviews, video introductions, and even relevant social media content. Authenticity builds trust. 5. Make scheduling easy. The best options are texting and online scheduling. Phone calls are okay. Email is the worst—slow, unreliable, and frustrating for both sides. Final Thought Unrealistic expectations are one of the biggest killers of progress. Chiropractors often get discouraged because they're comparing raw numbers without understanding what those numbers mean. Not all traffic is equal, not all visitors are prospects, and not all new patients will come through the same channel. Focus on what you can control—clear messaging, simplified navigation, strong calls to action, and easy ways to schedule. Want Help Growing Your Practice? We've heard all the usual suspects when it comes to remote engagement—Slack check-ins, virtual happy hours, maybe an annual engagement survey if we're lucky. But what if the problem isn't the tools, but the assumptions? In this episode, David Rice sits down with Dr. Adora Ikwuemesi, whose recent qualitative study of remote workers in Nigeria reveals a much deeper, more nuanced picture of what truly drives—or erodes—remote engagement.Adora walks us through her seven-part framework that emerged from conversations with 24 remote workers. Spoiler: it's not just about more communication; it's about better connection. From the physical realities of working without reliable electricity, to the surprising role that fun plays in fostering commitment, this conversation strips engagement down to its real-world components—beyond perks and policies. If you think your team is “fine,” you may just be missing the silence before the storm.Related Links:Join the People Managing People community forumSubscribe to the newsletter to get our latest articles and podcastsConnect with Dr. Adora on LinkedInCheck out Dr. Adora's website and Kendor Consulting LtdSupport the show

With host retail coach Wendy Batten https://wendybatten.com/podcast-intro/ In This Episode: It's not luck. It's not magic. Running a successful retail shop takes purpose, planning, and showing up as your best self. In this inspiring episode, I'm sharing a powerful reminder from one of my favorite authors, Jon Acuff: “Awesome is never accidental.” Let's talk about how you can intentionally create a business that feels great for you and your customers—on purpose, not by chance. We don't want average businesses or lives: strive for AWESOME. Tips on Raising Your Retail Standards: “Awesome” isn't just luck. Success is built with intention. Stop saying “She's so lucky” and ask what she is doing differently. Be an intentional leader. Plan 90 days ahead like a CEO. Learn new skills to grow your shop and confidence. Make business decisions that align with your personal and brand values. Level up your customer's experience. 81% of people will leave your store if they think someone else offers a better experience. Inconsistent service can drive even loyal customers away. Set clear store standards: music, smell, cleanliness, staff behavior—it all matters. Your Next Steps: Write down the quote: Awesome is never accidental. Pick one small area in your business and raise the bar. Ask yourself: how can I be more awesome today? Episode 68 On May 28, 1977, the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate, Kentucky went up in flames, claiming the lives of 165 people. The official ruling? Accidental fire. But decades later, that conclusion is still under scrutiny. In Part 1 of this explosive new series, we begin unraveling the story from the ground up: the layout of the building, the overlooked warnings, and the dangerously overloaded showrooms. As a fire protection engineer, I'll walk you through the facts—because when a fire moves this fast and takes this many lives, we have to ask: was it really just negligence… or something more? Beauty lovers, prepare for some seriously questionable advice – Leigh and Kelly are tackling the blurry lip trend that's taking over your feeds! From Korean beauty brands serving up "mellow blurring lip pencils" to Leigh's latest obsession: a fake silicone finger for perfect lip application (because apparently using your actual finger is too pedestrian when you're in the back of a taxi, obviously). We chat layering serums, always go thinnest to thickest, but what happens when you genuinely can't tell which is which? Plus, winter tanning hacks that don't require full-body commitment (because who has time for that?), and Leigh's accidental discovery of the powder-foundation-powder sandwich technique that had strangers asking questions.
