In what can only be described as the greatest political upset in modern history, Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton on November 8th, 2016. With the election concluded, President-elect Trump now faces the challenge of staffing a White House administration, a task that includes 4000 appointments. Given that Trump is a newcomer to politics, his early appointments are the best indicators of his incoming administration. His first two, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Chief Strategist Steve Bannon reflect a governing style that will likely push different strains of Republican/right wing ideologies together. What does this mean for the next four years? Find out in the final episode of Election2016!
In another twist that could only happen in 2016, FBI Director James Comey revealed that more Clinton emails could be investigated in conjunction with the inquiry into Anthony Weiner. Though short on details, the report quickly triggered Clinton dropping several points in the polls. Donald Trump pounced on the announcement, declaring Comey a hero against the establishment. Will this 'October surprise' derail Hillary Clinton's White House hopes? Find out in this week's Election2016!
At long last, Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton faced off in their final debate. Like their previous conversations, Debate #3 proved contentious and even ugly. Though several critical policy points were discussed, the most notable takeaway was Trump's refusal to guarantee that he will accept the election results. Trump has alleged that the media has been biased against him from the start, protecting Clinton and undermining the integrity of the presidential contest. Furthermore, Trump asserts that Clinton and the Democrats will attempt mass voter fraud in November. His campaign has actively recruited 'poll watchers' to monitor voting locations across the country. Are his claims valid? What will Trump's actions mean in a post-November 8th America? Find out, in this week's Election2016!
With the Trump campaign struggling after the Republican nominee's loss in the first presidential debate, Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence made headlines in his only debate performance of 2016. Though both VP picks had low name recognition before their debate, Mike Pence's calm, collected manner won him praise both Democrats and Republicans. Democratic VP candidate Tim Kaine, though more factual in his arguments, was widely regarded as rude for interrupting Pence more than 70 times. Despite being Trump's VP, Pence's victory was seen more as a win for his own future run for the Whole House, and less as a victory for Trump. Will it have an impact in the polls?
