Regular listeners will remember back in May we recorded a podcast debating whether Kemi Badenoch was the right fit for Tory leader. At that point in time the Conservatives were falling in the polls and she was facing allegations of laziness and a lack of a political vision. Spool forward to the end of the year and she is in her strongest position ever. She looks more assured in PMQs, her conference speech was a hit and her media game is much improved. But is she actually getting better, or is Starmer getting worse? And will this modest bump in fortunes translate to success at the local elections?James Heale speaks to Paul Goodman, Lara Brown and William Atkinson.Produced by Oscar Edmondson and Patrick Gibbons.Become a Spectator subscriber today to access this podcast without adverts. 12.30.25, Nick Ashooh is filling in for Kevin Sheehan and opens up the show preparing the Commanders' fanbase for an entire offseason of Drake Maye vs Jayden Daniels debates.
NFL talk kicks things off with True or False: Is Drake Maye the NFL MVP? Then we rank playoff teams from 6–1 based on who we'd want to face, debate which QB to build a franchise around, and run a Bijan Robinson edition of "Who Would You Rather Build Your Offense Around?" We shift to the NBA for two spicy WHUF trade scenarios including Trae Young to the Kings and Anthony Davis on the move. Wrapping the show in the MLB, we play Hall of Fame or Hall of Very Good — from pitchers like Felix Hernandez and Andy Pettitte to hitters like David Wright, Chase Utley, Manny, ARod, Beltran, and more. Football takes the stage, basketball gets weird, baseball gets historical — a little bit of everything. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Minnesota may be known as the land of ten thousand lakes, but an explosion of proposals for data centers this past year has some wondering if it could soon become the land of ten thousand data centers. From Faribault to Hermantown, places across the state are facing the possibility of a data center coming to their community. With cool temperatures and favorable tax exemptions, Minnesota has become an attractive place for tech companies searching for a place to build their data storage houses. MPR News reporter Kirsti Marohn has been following the data center beat. She joined Minnesota Now to recap all that happened in 2025.
On this episode of Bussin’ With The Boys, Will Compton, Taylor Lewan, and Greg Olsenrecap Week 17 of the NFL season and dive into the biggest storylines heading into the final week of the regular season. The boys debate who should win Coach of the Year between Kyle Shanahan and Mike Vrabel, then revisit the momentum vs. analytics conversation, specifically breaking down whether the Buffalo Bills should have kicked the field goal or gone for two in a pivotal moment. From there, they look ahead to key Week 18 matchups, including Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers, with Taylor Lewan going on record saying he likes the Panthers in that one. The conversation also takes a turn when the guys make the talk about arguably the best team in the NFL, the New England Patriots. The conversation ends again with the momentum vs. analytics debate plus plenty more reactions, arguments, and laughs along the way. Full NFL breakdowns, hot takes, and classic Bussin’ energy, enjoy. Kratom and 7-OH products are available in many smoke shops. But earlier this year, the FDA recommended certain 7-OH products be scheduled alongside opioids. This isn't the first time kratom has come under scrutiny. Nearly a decade ago, the DEA wanted to make certain active ingredients in kratom controlled substances. Meaning products would go from being widely available to highly restricted. After a massive wave of protest, the DEA decided not to move forward. Producer Rachel Carlson joins host Emily Kwong to talk about what could happen this time around, and what scientists know – and don't know – about kratom and 7-OH. In this episode of The Westminster Podcast, Brandon McLean Smith is joined again by Brian Selby for a wide-ranging theological conversation on Herman Bavinck, Christology, and the enduring significance of the infralapsarian–supralapsarian debate. Selby explores recent developments in Bavinck scholarship, arguing that Bavinck is far more decisive than often assumed in ordering creation, fall, and redemption with a view to Christ as the telos of all things—while firmly rejecting problematic forms of “incarnation anyway.” Drawing on Bavinck's engagement with Scripture, the Reformed tradition, and his 19th-century theological context, the conversation situates Bavinck as a critical foil to later neo-orthodox developments, particularly Karl Barth. The discussion also broadens to consider theological retrieval and method. Selby and Smith reflect on how Bavinck models a distinctly Reformed approach to engaging modern questions without surrendering confessional commitments—retrieving the tradition without mere repristination, and advancing dogmatics in service of the church's witness in every age. Along the way, they address Christocentrism, revelation, apologetics, and the task of theology in a changing intellectual landscape, offering a compelling vision of how historic Reformed theology can remain faithful, catholic, and intellectually alive today. HALSEY'S AGGRESSION AND STRATEGIC DEBATES Colleague Craig Symonds. Fearing the loss of Guadalcanal, Nimitz replaced the cautious Ghormley with Bill Halsey, whose aggressive "Kill Japs" attitude boosted morale. While Nimitz valued Halsey's pugnacity for "cavalry charges," he recognized the risks of his temperament. Halsey surprisingly bonded with General Douglas MacArthur, despite the rivalry between the Navy's Central Pacificstrategy and the Army's push to return to the Philippines. This strategic divide required a summit with President Roosevelt in Hawaii to resolve whether to island-hop toward Formosa or support MacArthur's pledge to liberate the Philippines. Jeff Colt is back, calling in from Carbondale with a mission to help rehabilitate the name “Jeff” one mountain town conversation at a time. We start with winter training reality in ski country, how to keep momentum when the days are short, the “subsistence” weeks that quietly save your season, and the eternal debate of pants, tights, and looking cool versus staying warm. From there it turns into a bigger conversation about identity, planning, uncertainty, and why the simplest answer sometimes is “we just have Jeff,” so we might as well make it a good one. Then we head straight into the good stuff, the White Mountains and the Mahoosuc Traverse, where “running” becomes scrambling, crawling, and three points of contact through the Mahoosuc Notch. Jeff breaks down the history and the legends (including Chris Getz and the steak stop), why style matters as much as speed in FKTs, and how different eras and ethics shape what we celebrate. We close with one of the most fun tangents of the whole Month of Jeff, what it is really like working in the AMC huts, from responsibility in dangerous weather to full-on blanket-folding skits, including Harry Potter and Frozen, all in service of three sacred rules: fold the blankets, pack out the trash, and tip the hut crew.Support our Sponsors: Janji (code: Freeoutside): https://snp.link/a0bfb726CS Coffee: CSinstant.coffeeGarage Grown Gear: https://snp.link/db1ba8abChapters00:00 The Jeff Identity Crisis06:19 Winter Training in Mountain Towns09:18 Exploring the Mahusik Range12:37 The Legacy of Chris Getz15:27 Navigating the Mahusik Notch18:29 Style and FKT Philosophy22:00 The Challenge of Self-Supported FKTs24:56 Planning and Uncertainty in Adventure27:57 The Evolution of Trail Running Style42:22 Exploring Style in Trail Running44:16 The Debate on Supported vs. Unsupported47:43 The Evolution of Trail Running50:54 Killian Jornet: The Pinnacle of Trail Running54:43 Authenticity in Trail Running58:30 The Role of Creativity in Trail Running01:03:31 Life Lessons from Working in the HutsSubscribe to Substack: http://freeoutside.substack.comSupport this content on patreon: HTTP://patreon.com/freeoutsideBuy my book "Free Outside" on Amazon: https://amzn.to/39LpoSFEmail me to buy a signed copy of my book, "Free Outside" at jeff@freeoutside.comWatch the movie about setting the record on the Colorado Trail: https://tubitv.com/movies/100019916/free-outsideWebsite: www.Freeoutside.comInstagram: thefreeoutsidefacebook: www.facebook.com/freeoutside

When politicians hand the gun industry a liability shield, they're not “protecting freedom,”they're protecting a business model built on body counts. Before Trump, Republicans largely only shaded the truth: George W. Bush's administration asserted “we know” Iraq has WMDs. The statements danced on ambiguous intelligence, carefully presenting suspicions as certainties.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this final holiday edition of The Wright Report for the week, Bryan shares economic good news, responds to listener questions about immigration, judges, and American identity, and offers a deeper reflection on what it truly means to be an American in a time of division, foreign influence, and cultural strain. Economic Bright Spots After Christmas: New data from Visa, MasterCard, and American Express show holiday spending rose between four and six percent year over year. GDP growth for the third quarter came in at a strong 4.3%, beating expectations. Bryan notes that while wealthy Americans are still doing well, middle and lower-income families continue to struggle with affordability. He argues the data supports Trump's case that tariffs and deportations did not crash the economy, but instead helped stabilize growth and reduce crime. Crime Falls as Deportations Rise: More than seventeen thousand illegal immigrants have been arrested under the Laken Riley Act, with two and a half million deported or self-deported over the past year. Early crime data suggests declines in murder, robbery, and vehicle theft. Bryan cautions the data is still incomplete but says the trend aligns with common sense and historical experience. Military Recruiting Surges: The U.S. military reported its strongest recruiting numbers in fifteen years. Bryan credits leadership changes at the Pentagon and renewed focus on mission and standards, pushing back on critics who predicted chaos under Secretary Pete Hegseth. Judges, Bias, and the Rule of Law: Listener questions focus on Democrat Judge Hannah Dugan's conviction for helping an illegal immigrant escape her courtroom. Bryan explains why jury reluctance to convict shows the cultural divide remains deep. He also defends his practice of identifying which president appointed judges, arguing that judicial bias is real and supported by Supreme Court reversal data. What It Means to Be an American: Bryan expands on Monday's debate about American identity, pushing back on Vivek Ramaswamy's claim that no American is more American than another. Drawing on the Founders, George Washington's farewell address, and the presidency's constitutional requirements, Bryan argues that allegiance, time in the country, cultural assimilation, and freedom from foreign loyalties all matter. He warns that dismissing heritage and lineage risks turning the United States into a fragmented society similar to modern Europe. Listener Questions and Reflections: The episode closes with unscripted questions on Israel, artificial intelligence and future jobs, personal interests, and Bryan's path from the CIA into broadcasting. He encourages young listeners to pursue skills that require judgment and adaptability, citing careers like the Merchant Marines as one example in an AI-driven future. Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are going to do unspeakable things to the people of Venezuela. The result is going to be more money for big oil companies, and a lot of dead people.
