Ceasefire in GazaPresident Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, marking the beginning of a multi-phase peace process. The first phase slated to begin Monday includes the release of 20 hostages, a halt to active fighting, and Israeli withdrawal from parts of Gaza. Hamas is expected to return the remains of deceased hostages as part of the deal. The agreement, brokered with the help of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, represents a shift in regional diplomacy. Qatar's role is especially significant, given its previous support for Hamas. Observers suggest that recent Israeli strikes in Doha (looking more and more like an approved strike by Qatar) indicate a broader effort to isolate Hamas.Key details of the peace plan, which aligns with a Trump proposal presented at the UN, include:1. Gaza will be a deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.2. Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of the people of Gaza, who have suffered more than enough.3. If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end. Israeli forces will withdraw to the agreed upon line to prepare for a hostage release. During this time, all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will be suspended, and battle lines will remain frozen until conditions are met for the complete staged withdrawal.4. Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned.5. Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1,700 Gazans who were detained after 7 October 2023, including all women and children detained in that context. For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.6. Once all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty. Members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries.7. Upon acceptance of this agreement, full aid will be immediately sent into the Gaza Strip. At a minimum, aid quantities will be consistent with what was included in the 19 January 2025 agreement regarding humanitarian aid, including rehabilitation of infrastructure (water, electricity, sewage), rehabilitation of hospitals and bakeries, and entry of necessary equipment to remove rubble and open roads.8. Entry of distribution and aid in the Gaza Strip will proceed without interference from the two parties through the United Nations and its agencies, and the Red Crescent, in addition to other international institutions not associated in any manner with either party. Opening the Rafah crossing in both directions will be subject to the same mechanism implemented under 19 January 2025 agreement.9. Gaza will be governed under the temporary transitional governance of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee, responsible for delivering the day-to-day running of public services and municipalities for the people in Gaza. This committee will be made up of qualified Palestinians and international experts, with oversight and supervision by a new international transitional body, the “Board of Peace,” which will be headed and chaired by President Donald J. Trump, with other members and heads of state to be announced, including Former Prime Minister Tony Blair. This body will set the framework and handle the funding for the redevelopment of Gaza until such time as the Palestinian Authority has completed its reform programme, as outlined in various proposals, including President Trump's peace plan in 2020 and the Saudi-French proposal, and can securely and effectively take back control of Gaza. This body will call on best international standards to create modern and efficient governance that serves the people of Gaza and is conducive to attracting investment.10. A Trump economic development plan to rebuild and energize Gaza will be created by convening a panel of experts who have helped birth some of the thriving modern miracle cities in the Middle East. Many thoughtful investment proposals and exciting development ideas have been crafted by well-meaning international groups, and will be considered to synthesize the security and governance frameworks to attract and facilitate these investments that will create jobs, opportunity, and hope for future Gaza.11. A special economic zone will be established with preferred tariff and access rates to be negotiated with participating countries.12. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be free to do so and free to return. We will encourage people to stay and offer them the opportunity to build a better Gaza.13. Hamas and other factions agree to not have any role in the governance of Gaza, directly, indirectly, or in any form. All military, terror, and offensive infrastructure, including tunnels and weapon production facilities, will be destroyed and not rebuilt. There will be a process of demilitarisation of Gaza under the supervision of independent monitors, which will include placing weapons permanently beyond use through an agreed process of decommissioning, and supported by an internationally funded buy back and reintegration programme all verified by the independent monitors. New Gaza will be fully committed to building a prosperous economy and to peaceful coexistence with their neighbours.14. A guarantee will be provided by regional partners to ensure that Hamas, and the factions, comply with their obligations and that New Gaza poses no threat to its neighbors or its people.15. The United States will work with Arab and international partners to develop a temporary International Stabilization Force (ISF) to immediately deploy in Gaza. The ISF will train and provide support to vetted Palestinian police forces in Gaza, and will consult with Jordan and Egypt who have extensive experience in this field. This force will be the long-term internal security solution. The ISF will work with Israel and Egypt to help secure border areas, along with newly trained Palestinian police forces. It is critical to prevent munitions from entering Gaza and to facilitate the rapid and secure flow of goods to rebuild and revitalize Gaza. A deconfliction mechanism will be agreed upon by the parties.16. Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza. As the ISF establishes control and stability, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will withdraw based on standards, milestones, and timeframes linked to demilitarization that will be agreed upon between the IDF, ISF, the guarantors, and the United States, with the objective of a secure Gaza that no longer poses a threat to Israel, Egypt, or its citizens. Practically, the IDF will progressively hand over the Gaza territory it occupies to the ISF according to an agreement they will make with the transitional authority until they are withdrawn completely from Gaza, save for a security perimeter presence that will remain until Gaza is properly secure from any resurgent terror threat.17. In the event Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above, including the scaled-up aid operation, will proceed in the terror-free areas handed over from the IDF to the ISF.18. An interfaith dialogue process will be established based on the values of tolerance and peaceful co-existence to try and change mindsets and narratives of Palestinians and Israelis by emphasizing the benefits that can be derived from peace.19. While Gaza re-development advances and when the PA reform program is faithfully carried out, the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood, which we recognize as the aspiration of the Palestinian people.20. The United States will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful and prosperous co-existence.—The long-term viability of the deal remains uncertain, but initial signs suggest a realignment of regional priorities. This deal has Trump's fingerprints all over it. As I am typing this I am speaking with friend of the program Wil Harris who is telling me that the UK press is presenting this as Biden's plan Trump is taking credit for. That's a bit rich, in my opinion. To paraphrase The Social Network:If Biden was the inventor of the Gaza Peace Plan, he would have implemented the Gaza Peace Plan. Katie Porter's Viral Meltdown Raises Political StakesCalifornia gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter is under fire following a viral interview where she appeared combative with a reporter. The incident was compounded by resurfaced footage of Porter harshly reprimanding a staffer during the COVID-19 lockdown.Porter's opponents, including Antonio Villaraigosa and Betty Yee, have seized on the moment to question her temperament and fitness for office. Strategists warn that although her base remains strong, such optics could threaten her standing as the Democratic frontrunner in a crowded 2026 race.Despite the controversy, many believe Porter's progressive bona fides will carry her through. The Democratic primary electorate, historically more tolerant of combative behavior if aligned with ideological purity, may ultimately overlook the episode.James Comey Arraigned in Politically Charged CaseFormer FBI Director James Comey pleaded not guilty this week to charges of lying to Congress and obstruction, charges filed by the Department of Justice under Trump's newly appointed U.S. Attorney, Lindsey Halligan. Comey's legal team is expected to challenge the basis of the prosecution, citing political retaliation.Legal experts widely anticipate the case may be dismissed before trial, but the optics alone are significant. The indictment illustrates the fraught landscape of prosecutorial partisanship in the post-Trump era, where legal actions against political adversaries risk becoming a norm rather than an exception.Chapters and Time Codes* Introduction & Return to Austin — 00:00:41* Gaza Ceasefire Overview — 00:05:10* Trump's Role and Regional Dynamics — 00:08:18* Implications for Hamas and Israel — 00:14:11* Katie Porter Controversy — 00:20:31* Political Impact of Porter's Behavior — 00:24:06* James Comey Indictment — 00:29:11* Wrap-up & Preview of Ken Vogel Interview — 00:32:23 This is a public episode. In this episode of Passing Judgment, we cover the arraignment of former FBI Director James Comey. Host Jessica Levinson explains the charges against Comey and outlines his defense strategies, including claims of vindictive prosecution and challenges to the validity of the prosecutor's appointment. Tune in as Jessica breaks down the legal complexities and what this high-profile case means for the broader landscape of justice. Here are three key takeaways from the episode:Challenge to Validity of Appointment: Comey's defense intends to argue that the U.S. attorney who brought the indictment, Lindsey Halligan, may not have been validly appointed. If successful, the charges can't simply be refiled due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.Selective and Vindictive Prosecution Motions: The defense plans to file motions asserting that the prosecution was brought with political animus and lacked objective justification—raising important questions about equal protection and due process under the law.High Bar for Prosecution: To secure a conviction, prosecutors must prove that Comey knowingly made false statements and intentionally obstructed Congress—standards that can be difficult to meet, especially with the complex context and timing of the indictment.Follow Our Host: @LevinsonJessica

On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, the insurrection act has been used at least 20 times starting in 1808. President Trump has to use it because we have Democrats who refuse to follow the law. Right now, we have a Democrat party usurping the Constitution. Governors and cities are not in charge of immigration. They don't have the power to prevent ICE from doing their job. Also, former FBI Director James Comey is a serial liar, leaker, and scoundrel who absconded with government documents, interfered in the 2016 election more than foreign powers, and brought disrepute to the FBI. Comey belongs in court and is lucky to avoid charges for other unethical acts. The democrat talking point is that acting US attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia prosecuting the Comey case has no prosecutorial experience. But in 1961, President John Kennedy nominated his 35-year-old brother, Robert, to be attorney general. RFK had no state or federal courtroom experience of any kind. The Democrat controlled Senate confirmed him. Later, Trump announces that “Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly!” The broad parameters of the deal sound very good. Rep Mike Lawler calls in to discuss the first phase of the Gaza peace plan. Trump has worked tirelessly to get the hostages home, but Hamas cannot remain in power. Lawler also discusses his confrontation with Rep Hakeem Jeffries over the government shutdown. ICE and other armed federal agents are doing their best to incite violence in blue cities so they can help Trump realize his unfulfilled dream from 2020 to impose a military crackdown. At the same time, Trump can only point to what happened in Portland five years ago during Black Lives Matter protests to try to bolster his case. Meanwhile, Comey has a pretty good shot to get his case dismissed—thanks in part to a Truth Social post that was supposed to be a DM to Bondi directing her to go after his enemies. SEASON 4 EPISODE 23: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: Here we go again. Trump is talking about his own mortality or career mortality or heaven or all of the above… AGAIN at the same time he’s talking about declaring insurrections and jailing more political opponents, like Mayor Johnson and Governor Pritzker and any one of a dozen judges including at least one he appointed – not prosecuting them, just jailing them - and, as if it could GET any worse, he specifically segued from the issue of wanting to prove to God that he’s been good to how great all those weapons are at his naval base. The missiles are flying, hallelujah, hallelujah. Plus he's written: “Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also." Look, you and I know it should be TRUMP in jail because he’s not only broken laws, he’s nearly COLLECTED THE COMPLETE SET of broken laws. But the process of convincing Trump that he's not crazy, that his predictions are coming true, that Portland is ablaze, is how Stephen Miller and the others manipulate him into eroding American democracy a little more every damn day. And this has worked since at least 2016 and I was told about it by Ed Rollins in 2017. It's the Trump personal feedback loop. And when the interruptors in that loop get in the way, they get bought out and destroyed. CNN first, The Washington Post, and now CBS News and the "B" stands for "Bari Weiss" who once told The Federalist Society that it was ok if it didn't believe her and her wife's marriage was legal because they all shared what really mattered: a desire for lower taxes. Let me expand upon the death of CBS News and her disastrous debut at its helm by retelling the story of the miniature version enacted at the CBS flagship station in LA when I worked there in 1991: The Mystery Of The Broken Number 3 CBS Pencils. B-Block (37:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: What is wrong with these dweeb MAGAs? Ken Paxton can't keep his pants on, every other day there's some new story causing his wife to again decide to divorce him, and he's just announced "undercover operations" against leftists. Hey, Pal, if you did anything BESIDES undercover operations you wouldn't be dismissed as a sex pest. Poor Derrick Van Orden continues his descent: now he's yelling at people for not learning how the Senate votes the way he learned about it in the 4th Grade (all of what he learned was wrong). And the Bad Bunny Super Bowl blowback reaches Marjorie Taylor Greene who demands a law making English the official language which is going to be trouble for her since she doesn't speak it. C-Block (45:00) THURSDAYS WITH THURBER: It's one of those weeks, plus my back is gone, one of my eyes is fighting me: it's time to bring back the first Thurber story I ever read aloud to an audience, the oddly soothing "A Box To Hide In."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

President Trump's efforts to prosecute his enemies are suddenly looking even more lawless. Leaks to ABC News just revealed that Justice Department insiders doubt the validity of the prosecution of former FBI director James Comey. This comes after inside sources told MSNBC that a senior prosecutor is resisting indicting New York attorney general Letitia James because the case against her is so weak. Trump is demanding prosecutions of both, and the bucking of his pressure reveals just how corrupt his directives truly are. Meanwhile, Trump just called for the jailing of the governor of Illinois. We talked about all this with former federal prosecutor Kristy Parker, counsel at Protect Democracy. She explains why Trump's prosecutions are so baseless, what we can read into the resistance inside DOJ, and how it might slow our slide into lawlessness. Learn more about your ad choices. Season seven opens with a clear promise: fewer teams, more truth. We look straight at the incentives that keep America mad—legacy media chasing rage clicks, politicians swapping positions to score points, and a culture that treats every topic like a loyalty test—and we choose a different path. From the first minute, we ask whether the country is truly more divided or just more performative, and why the quiet middle is still hungry for facts, fairness, and practical wins that improve daily life.We dig into the government shutdown without the typical theater, separate health policy myths from the calendar realities of ACA subsidies, and interrogate the state of media trust as CBS signals an editorial reset toward “news that reflects reality.” That flows into a wider conversation about borders and enforcement: rejecting both open-border slogans and heavy-handed raids, and arguing for humane, targeted systems with firm limits on executive tools. We revisit the lawfare spiral through the Comey saga and shifting intelligence narratives, making the case that equal standards and transparent testimony are the only route back to shared legitimacy. The same principle guides our take on the Epstein files: protect victims, release evidence, and be accountable—whoever it touches. On the economy, we challenge the conflation of stock market highs and real wellbeing. AI enthusiasm may rhyme with past bubbles, while families still measure success by affordability, stability, and opportunity. We get specific about tariffs, rule certainty, and how dull-seeming policy architecture—like Canadian provincial liquor monopolies—can shape trade far more than speeches. Finally, we map the identity problems facing both parties: a GOP still orbiting Trump and Democrats stuck on questions many voters want answered in plain English. The answer isn't new labels; it's consistent principles. Defend civil liberties for everyone, talk policy over personality, and reward leaders who trade heat for light.Join us as we build on a fiercely nonpartisan mission with sharper reporting, deeper policy focus, and a growing community that keeps us honest. Denmark grounds ALL drones, both military and civilian, as it preps for an EU summit in Copenhagen to discuss Russian air space breaches. We just recieved word that there MAY finally be a ceasefire agreement in Isreal, which then leads us into a history debate about this region and the tactics of the past. Speaking of weapons and tactics, Lockheed Martin just secured new contracts for 296 more F35s to be built. There seems to be some contraversy in the WNBA about the pay the atheletes are recieving, and the cheif of the organization's comments are not pretty. Comey plead not guilty to the purgery charges, while 9 Republicans names are being brought up because their phone records were subpoenaed in relation to Jan 6! We then shift over to the government shut down conversation, and why Trump says he doesn't want to back pay federal employees. Florida man was responsible for the Palisade fires... I honestly didn't see that coming. We finish by discussing the possibilities of Trump invoking the insurection act, and what is really going on within the big cities of America. From the original “lawfare” waged against grassroots conservatives to the Trump administration's current pursuit of figures like James Comey and George Soros — no stone is left unturned. Michael explains the difference between legitimate prosecutions and politically motivated witch hunts, detailing how lawfare drained conservative resources for years through frivolous lawsuits and intimidation tactics. He offers firsthand insight from his time as a federal prosecutor, explaining how the justice system got weaponized — and what it'll take to bring it back under control. Brian and Michael also dive into the controversy surrounding the Comey indictment, the FBI's double standards, and the ever-present shadow of the Epstein scandal. Conservative journalists who've covered the Antifa-fueled violence in Portland and Chicago sit down to share their stories with President Trump, Kash Patel and Kristi Noem. The mainstream media again proves its disconnect by trying to fact check the round table rather than go to the cities to report truthfully about the chaos. James Comey slips in through the out door at his arraignment as Peter Navarro details his own leg irons and shackles arrest at the airport.

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.serioustrouble.showJames Comey has been arraigned and has a trial date of January 5. Both his lawyer and the judge appear set on moving rapidly to trial, and the government is rushing to be ready. We discuss the motions it sounds like Comey's legal team will file, which likely will be helped by the message from the president demanding Comey's prosecution that does really appear to have been intended as a private message for Attorney General Pam Bondi.Plus: we discuss Sean Combs' sentence and how to lobby for a lenient sentence when your client is very fortunate and prominent, without sounding like you're saying the rich and famous deserve to get off easy.Paying subscribers get that and much more (upgrade your subscription at serioustrouble.show):* A look at an unexpected criminal complaint about the highly destructive Palisades Fire, in which federal prosecutors allege that an Uber driver set a smaller fire that begat the major fire.* Temporary restraining orders in the case over Trump's effort to deploy national guard troops to Portland, and what appeals courts are likely to do with them.* What to make of Supreme Court's choice to finally take on the Lisa Cook case, and the procedural split it is likely to emphasize among the court's conservative justices as they ponder what to do with the special, unique, quasi-private institution in a long historical tradition that is the Federal Reserve.* A lengthy and forceful appeals court ruling upholding birthright citizenship.* Another vindictive prosecution claim that has legs, this time from Kilmar Abrego Garcia.* And a Kardashian-Jenner-Ray-J RICO-defamation case. Wow!
Jen Psaki shows House Speaker Mike Johnson's pattern of avoiding having to address any issues that might cast Donald Trump in a poor light by pretending they are "not in his lane," not relevant to his position in Congress and therefore he can't speak on them. But when asked about Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl, Johnson wasted no time leaving his lane to speak his mind.New reporting from the Wall Street Journal says that Donald Trump's social media post demanding that Attorney General Pam Bondi prosecute his political enemies was meant to be a private direct message. Former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara talks with Jen Psaki about the DOJ's case against former FBI Director James Comey and how Trump's sloppy posting will not only be used against him, but could turn up more improper communications in discovery.Jen Psaki exposes the facts that undermine a fake surveillance scandal that Republicans like Lindsey Graham, Josh Hawley, and Chuck Grassley are pretending to be outraged about so they can push a re-writing of the history of January 6 and what the subsequent investigation turned up. Investigate strange witness accounts of blue lights and directed energy weapons (DEW), and analyze controversial hypotheses that Russian Spetsnaz and Chinese agents are actively sabotaging U.S. infrastructure via train derailments and bridge collapses. The Other Side of Midnight with Lionel offers a different way of thinking that challenges conventional news and headlines, which Lionel states he does not believe. The show delivers stories and questions "you ain't going to hear anybody talk about" by exploring the psychology of news and mind control, examining persuasion techniques (citing Amway and motivational speakers), and dissecting topics where mainstream narratives are questioned: these include controversial social issues like conversion therapy for minors and the nature of sexual identity, legal and political critiques (such as the James Comey perjury charges and the erratic behavior of figures like Katie Porter and Kamala Harris), the psychological control exerted in predatory relationships where men like Bill Bellichick and Alec Baldwin are "whipped", and deep-dive analysis into suspicious events such as the Palisades and Lahaina wildfires, including theories involving directed energy weapons (DEW) and sabotage efforts by Russian and Chinese forces. By fostering suspicion and a fertile imagination (fecundity), Lionel provides the context needed so you "never have to wonder what the heck is going on here" Learn more about your ad choices.
