Today's Headlines: The Trump–Musk bromance may be ending, with Elon blasting Trump's $2.3 trillion spending bill as a “disgusting abomination” and calling to oust lawmakers who supported it. Meanwhile, the Trump administration formally requested Congress to undo $9.4B in DOGE's previous cuts via a rescission process, still falling far short of Musk's promised $2T in cuts. New 50% tariffs on steel and aluminum go into effect tonight (except for the UK), but are subject to change next month. The administration also rescinded 2022 guidance protecting abortion access in emergency cases, exposing providers to prosecution in 13 states with total bans. FEMA's acting head reportedly didn't know the U.S. had a hurricane season, worsening concerns as meteorologists warn they're too understaffed to predict storm paths. In other news, DHS officers handcuffed a Nadler aide, accusing his office of “harboring rioters” after staff watched ICE detain migrants. The Supreme Court declined to hear gun rights cases, leaving Maryland and Rhode Island's bans intact. Just in time for Pride month, the Navy will rename the USNS Harvey Milk to align with a “warrior culture” vision. First, Inez and Greg discuss Musk's frustration over what he considers "a disgusting abomination" - the GOP's Big Beautiful Bill because it is not nearly serious enough about cutting spending. Inez agrees that we need much more fiscal restraint but she supports the bill because of its provisions on border safety, rooting out indoctrination in schools, and more. Next, they are horrified at House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries,' promise to dox ICE members for alleged overreach. Anyone responsible for deporting potential members of drug cartels have every right to protect their identity in the process. Inez slams the move as reckless and unconstitutional. Finally, they spotlight the increasing number of cases where male athletes identifying as girls are awarded titles, and scholarships, and other opportunities over the girls. Inez argues for a firm definition of sex in Title IX to avoid future Democratic majorities from enacting egregious reinterpretations of the law. Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference. On today's podcast: 1) More tensions between the U.S. and China as President Trump says Xi Jinping is extremely hard to make a deal with. Tensions between the two countries are increasing, with the US recently barring the shipping of critical jet engine parts to China and seeking to slap fresh curbs on Huawei Technologies Co. chips, among other measures. 2) Elon Musk blasts the president's tax cut bill, calling it an "abomination." Musk's criticism was met with responses from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who brushed it off, and Senator Mike Lee, who appeared to endorse Musk's criticism. The tax bill is forecast to bring down federal revenue by about $4 trillion over a decade, adding about $2.5 trillion to the federal deficit over the period. 3) Wells Fargo finally gets out from under the Fed's cap on its assets. The Fed said Wells Fargo met all conditions required by an enforcement action imposed on the bank in 2018 to remove the restriction. The removal of the cap marks a major win for CEO Charlie Scharf and allows the bank to pursue growth again, with plans to increase returns and growth in a deliberate manner.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's been a minute, but we're back with our Round-Up episode, where we parse and discuss some of the biggest stories going on around the art world, and it's really good to be back into this format again after a little commercial break. A lot has been happening lately in the so-called art world—good, bad, and there's been plenty of in-between that—but it remains as colorful, contradictory, and chaotic as ever. We'll be diving into crypto collector Justin Sun's escalating legal battle with Blue Chip Titan David Geffen over a long-nosed Giacometti sculpture; a trio of massive Hulk sculptures by Jeff Koons that descended on Frieze New York a couple of weeks ago—these big green bellwethers for the state of the market are in play; and finally, we'll look at some of the major developments at Art Basel, including the launch of its very first art award. Senior Editor Kate Brown is joined by co-host, art critic Ben Davis, and Artnet News Pro Editor Andrew Russeth.

Poni brought up QBs that started seasons at 41-years-old and how they fared in those seasons. Spoiler alert – it wasn't pretty for anyone outside of Tom Brady, who is the only one of four QBs to have success at that age. Poni thinks Bradshaw knows about 2 big things when it comes to QBs – aging bodies and playing well in big games. Will the Steelers host a playoff game in 2025? Joe was called out by Mark in Brentwood. Who won the battle? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. Are the Penguins able to win again with Sidney Crosby? How far away are they? Poni asked TK about a big move Kyle Dubas could make this offseason. Tyler said the Pens have a lot of gaps in the bottom six that need to be filled. TK said the Penguins need more of a complete team because it's difficult for the older guys to carry the team at this stage in their careers. TK questioned if Mitch Marner would be the right move for the Penguins.

Late Sunday night and into Monday morning, Russia launched its largest drone and missile attacks on Ukraine since the start of its full-scale invasion in 2022. A way to pull the rug out from under Hamas or a scheme to permanently chase Palestinians out of parts of Gaza? Israel insisting that a brand-new Geneva-registered aid group aims to deliver long-awaited aid to secure distribution sites while preventing the Palestinian militant group from diverting food and medicine. With the United Nations out of the loop, and Gaza residents forced to travel vast distances mostly for what look like rations, the international community warns it's a bid to force the displacement of a population that's only seen a trickle of aid since the embargo that started in March. What's Israel's ultimate goal? And will the United States sign off on a move condemned by some of the Jewish State's closest allies like Germany and Italy? More broadly, what's to become of Gaza two-point-four million citizens, two-thirds of whom live in refugee camps? The daily bombing continues, but is there a plan? Produced by Rebecca Gnignati, Elisa Amiri, Ilayda Habip.

In today's all-new episode, our hosts Renato Mariotti and Asha Rangappa discuss two Supreme Court-related developments: an oral argument about universal injunctions in a birthright citizenship case and a ruling on a habeas corpus matter involving detainees. The hosts analyze the justices' concerns about due process, the government's potential manipulation of judicial procedures, and the broader implications for constitutional rights. Before diving in, remember to subscribe to our Patreon for exclusive insights and behind-the-scenes content: patreon.com/reallyamericanmedia. The episode kicks off with a deep dive into the Supreme Court's latest oral arguments on universal injunctions—a case that directly challenges the Trump administration's attempts to abolish birthright citizenship. The justices grapple with whether government actions could bypass judicial processes, sparking critical questions about constitutional safeguards. Renato and Asha break down the legal complexity and discuss how this ruling could reshape the framework for executive power. Renato and Asha dissect the risks posed by universal injunctions—a tool that courts use to block policies nationwide. Renato highlights the justices' concerns that a future Trump 2.0 administration could outright ignore legal precedents, making injunctions ineffective. Asha expands on the implications, detailing how these legal maneuvers could allow an administration to selectively evade court enforcement, eroding judicial authority. In the second half of the episode, the hosts take on another major legal blow to Trump: the Supreme Court's decision rejecting his administration's handling of habeas petitions for detainees. The ruling reflects the court's distrust of Trump-era legal tactics and its commitment to upholding due process and detainees' rights. Renato and Asha unpack how the court's scrutiny of fast-tracked deportations reinforces the necessity of judicial oversight in protecting fundamental freedoms. As they dive deeper, Renato and Asha lay out the bigger picture—how these cases signal an ongoing battle against executive overreach. They break down the Supreme Court's role in maintaining checks and balances, why judicial integrity is paramount, and the legal roadblocks that could stand in the way of further power grabs. The episode wraps up with a hard-hitting conversation on the implications for Trump's policy agenda. Renato and Asha warn of the dangers of ignoring due process, calling for vigilance and judicial oversight to prevent unchecked government power. As always, they underscore the Supreme Court's critical function in defending democracy against authoritarian-style rule. Join Renato and Asha in this must-listen episode as they navigate these legal battles, offering a compelling analysis of the intersection between law, politics, and power. Their expert breakdown promises to shed light on the real consequences of these Supreme Court decisions—and what they mean for the future of American democracy. Tune in now!
