Sorry For Your Loss: a podcast about grief

“If you don’t post about it on social media, did it even happen?” Though some grievers may experience a certain pressure to post about a loved one when they pass away (or the future anniversaries, birthdays, etc.), some also fear that online mourning is inappropriate and intrusive, since it's expanded through the “everydayness” of social media.  This episode analyzes how social media has impacted our grieving processes, while challenging the “taboo” grief is associated with.  

Do men and women grieve differently? Or, do they just express grief differently? Do social norms determine or influence the appropriate way to grieve, according to gender?  Though the general consensus seems to be that men and women do grieve differently, this episode further explores how identified males and females express grief, and how gender expectations affect this.    

Posttraumatic Growth is a term coined by clinical psychologists Richard Tedeschi and Lawrence Calhoun, described as “the experience of positive change that occurs as a result of the struggle with highly challenging life crises”.
