When someone is murdered, they leave behind a body of evidence. When someone is kidnapped, they leave behind traces of a stuggle. But when someone just walks away, that is the true perfect crime for it is not a crime at all.

Sun City works perfectly, it works like clockwork, it works because people know their place. But people are still people and days with 4 or more anomalous incidents are not unusual; they happen about one or two times a week. That’s not what I’m worried about. What I’m worried about is a pattern, a pattern as large as Sun City. This is the 14th day of 4 or more anomalous incidents in a row. We used to have more yellow and orange data priorities than red. Now were drowning in a sea of wine and are lost in a garden of roses. IRIS has been telling us for a long time, this is not business as usual and we should be careful out there. Sun City is a democracy. Sun City Elects its leaders, though not of course directly. In The Aretta successors are elected by a council of predecessors. At The Coil they are elected to compete in contests of skill, which then decide the victors. At Grace Hopper each family gets a vote, not its members. Theirs is a consensus of lineage. The Frontier School requires that you progress through the ranks like a military officer, elected by one council of peers and then another. BASTS students vote on all issues, their council member is only a mouthpiece. Of all of them Second Ring is probably the closest to a true democracy, but even there the voting is complicated by the complex politics of purity. When we say we want our voices heard, is this what we mean? Sun City Duet is a podcast about two people discovering the fate of a city while playing an RPG. You can find us on twitter @SunCityDuet.
