BOSSes, Anne Ganguzza and Tom Dheere share decades of combined experience, reflecting on the realities of voice acting career longevity. From the cassette tape demo era to today's digital age, the hosts emphasize that sustaining a career for 20+ years requires more than just talent—it demands resilience, strategic goal setting, and a deep sense of gratitude to combat the inevitable inconsistency of the industry.
This week, I sit down with Sarah Doody to talk about why so many designers feel stuck, and why it has nothing to do with talent. We explore how designers can apply their own UX process to their careers, create clarity through “compass statements,” and build a roadmap that actually leads somewhere. What would happen if you stopped treating your portfolio like the product—and started treating yourself like the product? This week, I'm joined by UX researcher, product designer, and career strategist Sarah Doody to unpack a hard truth: most designers aren't broken; they're just not applying their own process to their careers. After years of helping teams build the right products, Sarah noticed the same patterns designers use at work rarely show up in their job search. That gap is exactly what inspired her to start Career Strategy Lab.In our conversation, we dig into the symptoms of “identity fog,” why so many designers struggle to articulate their own value, and how the industry's obsession with FANG feeds unrealistic expectations. Sarah breaks down her “Product of You” framework—designing yourself, marketing yourself, and selling yourself—and shows how a single compass statement can influence everything from what projects you showcase to which jobs you apply for.We also talk about experimentation, metrics, tailoring your materials, and the surprising reasons why designers waste months tweaking their portfolios without improving their outcomes. If you've ever felt stuck, lost, or unsure how to stand out in a crowded market, this episode will give you the clarity and the next steps you've been missing.Give it a listen. You might walk away with a completely new way to think about your career.Topics:• 01:57 – Feeling Stuck in Your UX Career• 03:28 – Understanding Career Identity Fog• 06:00 – The Importance of an Elevator Pitch• 09:57 – Applying UX Processes to Your Career• 23:24 – Experimentation and Metrics in Job Search• 26:39 – Tailoring Your Resume and Portfolio• 34:02 – The Role of ATS and AI in Job Applications• 37:47 – Rethinking Success Beyond FANG Companies• 39:40 – Golden Handcuffs: The Reality of Working at FANG• 41:17 – Creating a Life Roadmap Before a Career Roadmap• 43:39 – Defining Your Perfect Day and Career Goals• 45:17 – The Importance of Total Compensation Packages• 46:57 – Effective Job Search Strategies and Networking• 48:47 – Documenting Your Work and Portfolio Tips• 53:56 – The Value of Paid Career CoachingHelpful Links:• Connect with Sarah on LinkedIn• The Career Strategy Lab• The Career Strategy Podcast—Thanks for listening! Cristiano Ronaldo BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Cristiano Ronaldo remains firmly in the world's spotlight after he confirmed on CNN with Becky Anderson and echoed across CBS News and Hindustan Times that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will definitely be his last. Ronaldo said he is “really enjoying the moment” and emphasized he still feels sharp at 40, but conceded that “in one, two years” he'll finish his professional journey, drawing “the final major chapter” of one of football's greatest living legends. For biographical history, this marks the most explicit retirement statement he has made, as he prepares for what would be a record sixth World Cup, pending Portugal's qualification. In his remarks at the Tourism Summit in Riyadh, he stated, “Definitely, yes. I will be 41 years old and I think this will be the moment in the big competition,” and he also teased his openness to support the sport and develop football in both Portugal and Saudi Arabia after retirement, underscoring his lasting influence on the global game.Current business affairs see Ronaldo still based in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr, where he continues his quest for the almost mythic individual milestone of 1000 career goals—his 953rd was scored just a few days ago according to World Soccer Talk, and he marked the moment on social media with an inspiring four-word message: “Stay focused. Stay humble.” This goal chase remains one of the most closely tracked sports stories worldwide, and would cement his legacy even further. Social media buzzed as well for personal reasons: Ronaldo shared birthday wishes to his daughter Alana Martina as she turned eight, offering a rare personal moment that resonated across Instagram and Twitter, with fans celebrating both his on-field achievements and dedication as a father—Sportskeeda picked up on the widespread reactions.Headlines in recent days focus nearly exclusively on his 2026 World Cup announcement, with outlets such as ABS-CBN, GBC Ghana, and Agence France-Presse repeating his “definitely my last World Cup” promise, amplifying both sporting and mainstream coverage. There have been no credible reports of new endorsement deals, controversies, or significant business activities in the last week—his brand remains rock steady as sponsors and markets prepare for what will likely be a global farewell tour.Speculation about a possible “farewell match” or legacy project is swirling in some fan circles, but nothing has been confirmed by either Ronaldo or his representatives. For now, attention is locked on his path to 1000 goals, Portugal's World Cup qualification, and the legacy of a footballer whose next moves remain headline news worldwide.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

At the end of our careers, very few of us will be able look back and say that we accomplished what we set out to do. Why? The reason is because so many of us don't know where we are going, and instead, we opt to travel any road that takes us forward. What if you were to create, write down, a then look at your career goals often? Two things would probably happen. Number one, you would achieve many of your goals. Number two, you would feel satisfied by living out a successful career. When the sun sets on our careers, it is not for other people to measure our success. It is up to each of us individually. Goals help us satisfy our own career aspirations Have fun setting your goals!Support the show

In this episode, Alyssa and Nadia reflect on how noise, social stimulation, and personal priorities shape their daily lives. The conversation opens with lighthearted banter about barking dogs, road construction, and the toll constant noise can take on mental health. From there, they dive into deeper reflections on social energy, nightlife, and the push-pull between wanting to participate in everything versus needing rest and solitude.Nadia shares her evolving perspective on social life in Boston, adjusting to college routines, balancing work at a café, and questioning whether she's “missing out” by choosing quiet nights over parties. Alyssa contrasts this with her recent whirlwind trip to Las Vegas, where stimulation overload made her crave peace, underscoring the theme that both too much and too little activity can affect well-being.The discussion turns toward busyness, structure, and societal pressures to be constantly productive. They explore how being “always busy” can sometimes mask deeper emotions, but can also simply reflect a love of staying engaged. Nadia opens up about the looming weight of pre-med requirements, balancing passion with strategy, and navigating headspace consumed by future goals. Alyssa responds with reassurance from her own journey, reframing the process as focusing on meaningful steps rather than pure strategy. The episode closes on the reminder that rest is just as essential as productivity, and that both fun and downtime have value in a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.TakeawaysNoise and constant stimulation affect mental health more than we often acknowledge.Social energy shifts over time — it's normal to prefer quiet nights over partying, even in college.Busyness can be both a coping mechanism and a fulfilling way of life, depending on intention.Structure and routine can provide comfort, but flexibility and free time are equally important.Pursuing big goals (like medical school) requires balancing strategy with genuine passion.Rest and fun are not indulgences — they are critical for long-term well-being.Chapters0:10–3:05 – Dogs, Construction, and How Noise Shapes Mental Health3:06–6:36 – Nadia's Shift Away from Partying and Managing Café Work-Life Balance6:37–8:11 – Alyssa's Overstimulating Vegas Trip and Midlife Social Lessons8:12–9:29 – Choosing Rest Over FOMO: Leaning Into Quiet Nights9:30–14:32 – Busyness, Structure, and the Fear of Stillness14:33–18:31 – Med School Goals: Strategy vs. Passion18:32–20:43 – Balancing Co-op, Career Goals, and Future Planning20:21–21:37 – Wrapping Up: Rest, Fun, and Social Chair Irony

From the outside, you may look like you have it all together — the career, the accomplishments, the ability to handle everything with ease. But inside, you may feel hollow, disconnected, and like you're simply going through the motions. This isn't traditional burnout. It's something deeper. It's what I call flatlining: the hidden collapse that happens when high-achieving women push too hard for too long without tending to their own humanity. In this episode, I explore the psychological forces that drive achievement into emptiness — perfectionism, hyper-independence, and unprocessed emotions — and how to break free from their grip. You'll learn how to recognize the signs of flatlining, release the belief that your worth is tied to performance, and begin reclaiming your energy and vitality from the inside out. What we explore: The difference between burnout and flatlining — and why it matters How perfectionism keeps moving the goalpost and fuels emptiness The hidden costs of hyper-independence on your emotional wellbeing Why unprocessed feelings disconnect you from yourself How to reclaim your vitality through self-worth, boundaries, and coaching If this episode speaks to you, I invite you to take the next step with me inside my coaching programs and resources, where you'll find the tools and support to truly end the cycle of achievement and emptiness. How to turn curiosity, clarity, and AI into your most powerful job search tools.Job search isn't just about landing your next role—it's about understanding who you are and how you want to show up in the world. According to Andrew Seaman, Senior Managing Editor for Jobs and Career Development at LinkedIn, that process begins with curiosity, not certainty. “People assume they need to apply to dozens of jobs with a perfect résumé,” he explains. “But the best applications are rooted in self-awareness and strategy—not spray-and-pray.”Instead of rushing to the next opportunity, Seaman encourages job seekers to slow down, ask better questions, and prioritize conversations over checklists.
