Lewis and Babs plumb the Tarot secrets of the Universe.
In this landmark episode of Tarot La La, Lewis sits down with his mom, recently discovered living in Pahrump, NV. Across the gulf of thirteen years of absence, they have a candid conversation about their lives and how they've lived them. The cards, as always, provide their guidance. Post-script features a cathartic conversation with Lewis's younger sister Isabelle (aka Lingling) Sequeira in which they unpack the experience. It's a long one, folks.
What's that on the horizon? It's a brand-new Tarot La La for the ages. After his mom resurfaces after 13 years of absence, Lewis - along with his trusty co-host and also wife Babs - uses the Tarot to gain insight into hers and Lewis's current state of mind.
A recording of a live stand-up comedy show that takes place every Monday at EastBurn at 8pm. Featuring: BARBARA HOLM CALAIX ALEXANDER BEN HARKINS AND SHAIN BRENDEN Hosted by me, Lewis Sequeira.
Lingling Sequeira, my little sister, and I don’t talk that often, but we should. Despite not being in each others’ lives for years we seem to have a lot in common. We’re both stand-up comedians. Both big into Tarot. We even take the same antipsychotic! The Tarot guides us through a long cathartic conversation that spans surprising news about my mom’s diagnosis, suppressed childhood memories, and reassurances that neither of us are crazy, just a little brain-damaged.
We begin by revisiting a card we drew last week: the Eight of Cups, a card which indicates it's time to leave. Then Lewis opens up a little more about his mom's disappearance ten years ago. We draw a three-card spread to gain insight into Linda's decision to leave and Babs makes a point about self-sacrifice that brings Lewis some peace and understanding.
My mom left when I was 20. No explanation, no note. No one knows why she left.… but does the Tarot???
When Lewis and Babs ask the Tarot about their romantic destiny they draw the Death card.
Federal officers bear down on PDX and dish out the pain. Protestors randomly abducted in unmarked vans. With all this in mind, a terrified Lewis talks about a spread he devised to help fortify his spirit as the Portland Black Lives Matters protests situation evolves Babs revisits the Star card and how its message of accepting gifts from Nature can leave one feeling more serene, and calm, but also vibrant and alive.
Tarot La La is back and longer than ever with a double-stuffed episode diving into the mysteries of one of the Tarot's most used and understood spreads: The Celtic Cross. Lewis has been out of work for months with zero prospects. Divine Wisdom of the Tarot, help us out please. Lewis’s job interview doesn’t go so good and Babs loses (and locates) a childhood friend. We also talk about that time I got haunted.Today's cards:The Eight of PentaclesThe Four of CupsThe King of SwordsHOOTIE:
With a mere 6% of their laptop battery remaining, Lewis and Babs touch on the moon landing and take their first steps down the Path of Swords, a suit whose hallmarks are intellectual acuity and, uh, suffering.CARDS DISCUSSED:The Ace of SwordsThe MagicianThe High Priestess
Lewis expands on his Tarot origin story and Babs gets an F on her final exam which precipitates an emotional and spiritual crisis. After drawing a dire spread Babs and Lewis discuss truth in divination, whether the Tarot lies, and our extremely pregnant guppy Charles.
Lewis and Barbara, two stalwart sleuths of the metaphysical, get to the bottom of this Tarot thing. How? By consulting the Tarot. Sorry I clapped so much.
