The state and culture of wellness in healthcare professionals has been a topic of much research, debate and interest.  It remains a fluid issue that deserves a solution. As we continue efforts and work in this arena, it is my hope that The Pulse of Healthcare will connect and inspire us toward continued advocacy and awareness for our wellbeing.  These are unprecedented times, many of us are facing our first pandemic. As both a physician and metastatic stage 4 lung cancer patient, I have come to understand what burnout really entails. It's the end, we must focus our efforts on the beginning. Our profession teaches us that tolerating burnout is part of the job. It makes us stronger and “better” It is my hope that The Pulse of Healthcare will connect and inspire us towards continued advocacy and awareness for our wellbeing . These are unprecedented times, many of us are facing our first pandemic, working longer hours providing care on the frontlines during COVID 19. Until recently, I too was frontline alongside my colleagues; I understand and relate to the anxiety and fears with so many unknowns in our world right now. In addition to keeping patients safe you are faced with fears and anxieties about your own health, the health of your family member and loved ones in addition to job security, and financial impacts. It feels like a loss of control.
