Focus on the fatal flaw built into this entire framework.The deal leaves Iran in control of Lebanon through Hezbollah.The United States says it wants to stop Iranian aggression and bring stability to the region. Yet Hezbollah remains untouched—Iran's military, political, and terror arm inside Lebanon.Hezbollah is not simply another terrorist organization. It is Iran's occupation force in Lebanon. It dominates major parts of Lebanon's political and security system, exists to advance Tehran's regional jihad, and remains armed for one central purpose: threatening and attacking Israel.Any serious agreement designed to curb Iranian aggression would have required Hezbollah to be removed from Lebanon's military and political equation. Instead, the framework leaves Iran's most important regional proxy intact.The result is predictable.Iran will continue using Hezbollah to attack Israel.Iran will continue using Hezbollah to dominate Lebanon.And Lebanon will remain hostage to Tehran.This is why Netanyahu faces a test—not merely from Trump, but from God.Will Israel surrender to international pressure and abandon the security zones necessary to protect Israeli lives? Will Israel stop acting against Hezbollah while Hezbollah continues preparing for the next war?So far, Netanyahu is passing that test.Israel has not withdrawn from southern Lebanon. The IDF continues operating against Hezbollah. Israel understands that no foreign leader, friend or foe, can be trusted with Israel's security.The clearest proof came last night: Israel struck Hezbollah, Iran walked away from negotiations, and the fighting continued. Nothing fundamental has changed.Iran will never accept a final agreement that ends its nuclear ambitions, dismantles its terror network, and abandons its regional jihad. This diplomatic theater is a temporary pause before the next stage.Israel must remain clear-eyed. Every area Israel leaves in southern Lebanon becomes an opportunity for Hezbollah to rebuild, rearm, and prepare for another October 7th-style attack.Permanent Israeli security control in southern Lebanon is not a luxury. It is a necessity.And if Israel truly wants lasting security for the north, the IDF must eventually push Hezbollah back to the Litani River—the nearest defensible geographic line for protecting Israel's northern communities.The deeper lesson is simple: do not place your faith in politicians, agreements, or headlines.Place your faith in God, in the strength of the Jewish people, and in our historic responsibility to defend our sovereign homeland.The road ahead will not be easy. For the second part of my ongoing series about Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Clara from Angura Research Center was kind enough to return to the show. You might remember her from the episode we did together on Shuji Terayama, but she’s also a huge Kurosawa fan. We had a lot to say about the horror films and thrillers he made at the beginning of the 2000s: Séance (2000), Pulse (2001), Bright Future (2002), Doppelganger (2003), and the short film Matasaburo the Wind Imp (2003). I think you can tell from the episode that we could truly have just kept talking about Kurosawa forever and are both dazzled by him. There are also some shout outs to Seijun Suzuki, Koji Wakamatsu, Masao Adachi, and a free Palestine. By 5 am on June 12th, 2016, news that there had been a shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando was everywhere. Family members gathered outside the club, at hospitals, and at victims' centers, desperate to find out if their loved ones had survived. When the shooting came to an end, the horror of what people endured was really just beginning. For the entire day, victims' loved ones searched the city in agony for answers. On this episode, we explore the lingering effects of medical crises, both physical and emotional, and what true healing really means. We hear about one doctor's journey to reconnecting with her body — and her pain — after nearly dying, what researchers are learning about medical trauma, and how a traumatic brain injury transformed the lives and marriage of a couple. As a physician, Rana Awdish's goal was to get her patients healthy as quickly as possible. But when she  experienced her own medical emergency — one that ended her pregnancy and nearly killed her — her perspective on the role of clinicians shifted. Awdish later wrote a memoir about her experience, “In Shock,” that explored the importance of not only healing patients, but connecting with them on an emotional level. But the story didn't end there. Fellow doctor and podcast host Neda Frayha talks with Awdish about her continuing journey, in the wake of the book's success, to realizing that she hadn't fully healed from her medical crisis, and that just as clinicians needed to connect with their patients, she needed to connect with her own body. Awdish's new book is "After Shock: Learning to Reinhabit My Body After Illness." We talk with psychologist Jim Jackson about his decades-long work on medical trauma — the invisible psychological scars that many patients experience after serious illness or injuries. We hear about the causes of medical trauma, helpful and harmful ways of responding to it, and treatment options. The polarization is most often political. As a believer in Jesus Christ, are you overthinking about politics? Have you made politics an idol? Let's explore some of the pervasive ways politics can become an idol and how we can turn to the Bible for wisdom. Why would I want to even touch this idol with a proverbial ten-foot pole? Because the real work we do at work matters for the Kingdom. A political candidate or a law will never save someone from sin. Only Jesus can. And living up to the greatest commandment to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves can get very clouded when politics becomes part of our identity—when they become an idol. A woman in one of my professional groups recently shared she was afraid to share her Christian faith because one of the churches in her community had been very outspoken about the local political climate. Being known as a Christian alone had raised so much angst in the community. By the numbers, over 50% of workers expressed concern over the impact of conversations about politics at work, but nearly 40% of U.S. workers have engaged in political discussions at work. Of this group, 60% report these conversations have impacts on productivity.[1] Add to this mix the other matter we care most about, sharing our faith. When these two topics blend, half of your audience will be concerned about the conversation and not in a good way. Can we keep politics in their proper place? Can we engage but still follow Paul's advice in Romans 12:2 to not conform to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind? Have we conformed to the world so much that we have lost our salt? Do we behave too much like the culture around us? This is not about politics, but it is about how we can check in with ourselves to see if politics have become an idol in our lives. As followers of Jesus, we are called into a dual citizenship.
