Susie has another pretend enemy (pretenemy?), and despite the Hippocratic oath, she is claiming her doctor doing harm. Sarah wants to know what old ladies are supposed to wear these days because her cowboy chic situation isn't exactly couture, but she likes being comfy. We learn about a man who is suing Netflix for creating a movie that he claims is too similar to his life, even though they say any similarity is, you guessed it, purely coincidental. We discuss the Titan submersible and how the wife/mother of two of the victims claims she was given their "bodies" in a very disturbing form. We celebrate the ways Mariska Hargitay is making a difference for victims of assault. And we debate the virtues of living a "random" life with the help of an app.00:00 - Susie's Physical and Doctor Dislikes12:18 - Try the Best Bone Broth on the Planet15:02 - Sarah's Struggle with Modern Fashion Trends25:13 - Relax in Cozy Earth Pajamas and Bedding28:22 - The Tragic Story of Maldives Cave Divers36:41 - Diver Sues Netflix Over Life Story Adaptation40:53 - Disturbing Details from Titan Submersible Victim's Wife42:22 - Keep Track of your Finances with Rocket Money44:31 - Clearing Rape Kit Backlogs with Mariska Hargitay48:28 - Why Billionaires Chase More Money and Power54:05 - Debating the 'He's So Random' Life App58:55 - Reflecting on Doctors, Fashion, and RandomnessBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Head to https://cozyearth.com and use my code BRAINCANDY for an exclusive 20% off. Dr Lyndon Drake has two PhDs: one in theology and one in A.I. Now a research fellow at Oxford, he wants to help us think through chatbots in a rigorous and careful way. Let's be conscious of the pitfalls and dangers, but let's also explore the opportunities. Christians have been wrestling with what it means to be human for centuries, and producers of A.I. technology can benefit from those insights.Lyndon is one of the producers of the Oxford Oath on A.I., modeled after the Hippocratic Oath, to guide users and developers in how to use A.I. for the common good of humanity.
The Learning Leader Show with Ryan Hawk Read my NEW BOOK -- The Price of Becoming - www.LearningLeader.com/Becoming Eric Ries is the author of The Lean Startup, one of the most influential business books of the past 25 years, and the founder of the Long-Term Stock Exchange, the first new U.S. exchange to both list and trade multiple stocks since NASDAQ launched 50 years ago. His new book is Incorruptible. Key Learnings The more successful a company becomes, the more valuable it is as a target. Companies are worth stealing and taking over. Most founders are naive about this and don't understand what's coming for them. They've been following the so-called best practices about how companies should be built, structured, and governed. Most of those best practices are value-destroying. Sol Price was a lawyer before he became an entrepreneur. He believed a lawyer had a fiduciary duty to put the client's interests before his own. So when he became a retailer, he asked: "Who's my client?" The customer. He treated the customer as the person he would rather die than betray. When competitors sold a product for less, he'd put up signs in his own store: "Don't buy this from me. You can get it cheaper somewhere else." He capped his margins at 14 percent. He paid above-market wages. It is so much easier to destroy than to create. One day, Sol came into work and couldn't get into his office because the locks had been changed. Investors had pushed him out and forced Fedmart to practice retail best practices. Within seven years, they bankrupted the company. We've built an economy that rewards people for cost-cutting without holding them accountable for the consequences to trustworthiness, brand, or culture. The origin story of Costco: Sol took two weeks off, then leased the office upstairs from Fedmart and started Price Club. One of the young guys who left with him, Jim Sinegal, had worked his way up from stock boy. Jim eventually started his own company using the Sol ethos. A few years later, their companies merged to form what we now call Costco. Wall Street routinely calls Costco the exception to every rule. Wall Street analysts say things like: "At Costco, they take money that rightfully belongs to shareholders and instead invest it in the customer experience." As if that's a criticism. Costco endures because it's protected by a governance fortress. A series of worst practices that resist outside pressure structurally. The $1.50 hot dog has been the same price since 1986. A McDonald's Big Mac was $1.60 in 1986. Today that same Big Mac in California is over $7. Costco sells more hot dogs than every Major League Baseball stadium in America combined. If they raised the combo to $7, it would be a billion dollars of extra net income. They could do it. They choose not to. "If you raise the price of the effing hot dog, I will kill you. So figure it out." Jim Sinegal said it to his COO in 2008 when costs were rising. Figure it out. Costco vertically integrated the hot dog supply chain. They own hot dog production plants in multiple cities. They worked deals with soda vendors. They did all that extra work for the privilege of not making more money on the hot dog. Harder is easier. "When you take the hard road, when you make a principled commitment, you get these almost unbelievable values. Because you're generating the most underrated and most valuable asset in all of business: trustworthiness." "Easy choices, hard life. Hard choices, easy life." Jerzy Gregorek, Olympic weightlifter. "Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder. Nobody wanna lift these heavy ass weights." Ronnie Coleman, eight-time Mr. Olympia. Everyone wants the outcome. Nobody wants to do the actual thing. Culture and mission can be cultivated, not commanded. Most leaders get this wrong. They say "I'm in charge of my team." But can you command your team to have integrity? Can you command it to have a particular culture? You have to make consistent, responsible choices, just like cultivating health in your body. Get reps. Eric gave practice talks at a Hobee's restaurant at 7 AM to six people just to get the reps. Caring and trying to do a good job is so unbelievably rare. That alone is a competitive advantage. Feedback tells you something about the person giving it, not about yourself. If someone reads Eric's manuscript and says, "This book sucks," he hasn't learned anything about the book. He's learned this person doesn't like this kind of book. When he stopped arguing with negative customer reviews and started studying who they came from, he noticed patterns. People 16 and younger loved the product. People 16 and older hated it. He learned who his product was for. Separate qualitative from quantitative feedback. Qualitative is for hypothesis generation. Quantitative is for hypothesis validation. When test readers told him a chapter wasn't working, that was qualitative. When the platform data showed nobody was getting past that chapter, that was quantitative. You need both to know what to fix. It is always too early until it's too late. Eric tells the story of a multibillion-dollar founder he warned before his IPO. The founder talked to his bankers, lawyers, and CFO. They told him Eric was a downer. The founder went public anyway with conventional governance. Five months later, his stock dropped 90 percent, and he was ousted. The best time to plant a tree is 40 years ago. The second-best time is today. Eric's checklist for building an incorruptible company: Encode your mission into the corporate charter. Most founders have never read their charter. If your mission statement says one thing but your legal charter says another, you're lying. The easiest fix: file a public benefit corp filing (PBC). Two pages. 44 states. Your lawyer can do it tomorrow. Identify your fiduciary commitments. Who would you rather die than betray? Is it your customers? Your employees? Product quality? You decide. If your answer is nobody, you're a sociopath. The whole book is for the people who actually want to accomplish something. Align your employees to that mission. Make sure everybody on the team is committed to the same fiduciary priority. Create a director's oath. Like the Hippocratic Oath for doctors, but for your board. They must pledge to commit to the company's mission. Board betrayal and investor pressure are leading causes of death of companies in the modern world. Make the directors accountable to somebody. Power without accountability is corrosive to the human spirit. Novo Nordisk is governed by a nonprofit foundation. Patagonia is governed by a perpetual purpose trust. John Lewis Partnership in the UK is governed by an employee ownership trust. IKEA, Vanguard, and REI all have these structures. The data shows these companies are dramatically more stable and higher performing than conventional structures. You are not stuck in traffic. You are traffic. People love to blame the system. But you're not just a passenger. You're part of what creates the system. Where you work. What you buy. What you give your attention to. Every one of those choices is fueling somebody's company, somebody's algorithm, somebody's bonus. The richest people in the world spend billions on PR because they know your individual choices matter. Use that power. Eric's champagne moment a year from now: a grassroots movement around Incorruptible. This book won't get wall-to-wall media coverage. It's antagonistic to people in power. So Eric hopes readers will hand it to their founders, their bosses, their friends. If consumers and employees start demanding, "I want to work in an incorruptible company," that's the toast. Reflection Questions What is your equivalent of Costco's hot dog? The one commitment you'd defend even when it's financially painful, even when the easy move would be to abandon it? Have you ever read your corporate charter, or the foundational document of your team or department? Does what's actually written match what you say you stand for? Where in your work or life would the harder short-term path build something more durable in the long run? Are you willing to lift the heavy weights? ⚕️ "If you want to understand the health of a population, look at the air they breathe, the water they drink, and the places where they live." More than 2,400 years ago, Hippocrates transformed medicine by arguing that disease had natural—not supernatural—causes. His emphasis on clinical observation, ethics, prognosis, professionalism, and compassionate care laid the foundation for modern medicine. The Hippocratic Oath remains one of the most enduring ethical pledges in human history.
Dr Boshart is a doctor educated in what she describes as modern western medicine and in the traditional ways of the First Nations. Her dedication to her patients in unique. She takes her duty of care very seriously and the Hippocratic Oath is not simply a formality but a code by which she lives and breathes. In this episode Dr Boshart talks about some of the challenges she has faced, the structural efforts in place that make her more than suspicious as to the reasons behind them and she is very clear, the system is killing indigenous people to this very day.Thank you Dr Boshart for you time and your dedication. This is TwoandaMicRise up and be curiousThis podcast is maintained with the efforts of my guests' participation and as much free time as I can dedicate to it. Content note: this episode discusses assisted dying, end-of-life choices, and suicide. Some listeners may find the content distressing. In April 2024, Daniel Kahneman — one of the most influential psychologists of the twentieth century — emailed his close friends to say goodbye. He was 90 years old, his kidneys were failing, his mental lapses were increasing, and he had decided it was time to go. He flew to Switzerland to end his life at an assisted dying clinic there, because New York, where he lived, did not permit it. Thirteen American states currently allow medical assistance in dying; most require a terminal diagnosis with death expected within six months. Canada, Belgium, and Switzerland allow it on broader terms. The UK introduced a bill to parliament, but it failed to pass. The debate on whether we have the right to end our own lives has not been resolved. This week Tim Phillips talks to Al Roth of Stanford University about how economics can contribute to the debate on medical aid in dying (MAID). Roth, a Nobel Prize laureate, has written a new book that argues this, and similar debates, often miss the key insight: the binary choice of “allow” versus “ban” rarely reflects reality. For example, in the United States, he explains that physicians in jurisdictions where assisted dying is illegal are familiar with the practice of administering doses of drugs that will relieve pain, but also end life. Roth's argument is not that assisted dying is always right. It is that a moral position that ignores the costs of a ban is not more ethical — it is less honest. Economists, he says, bring one specific thing to this debate: the insistence that trade-offs be made explicit. The book discussed in this episode:Roth, Alvin E. 2026. Moral Economics: What Controversial Transactions Reveal about How Markets Work. Basic Books. Published 21 May 2026.To cite this episode:Phillips, Tim, and Alvin Roth. 2026. “The right to choose to die." VoxTalks Economics (podcast).Assign this as extra listening. The citation above is formatted and ready for a reading list or VLE.About the guestAlvin Roth is the Craig and Susan McCaw Professor of Economics at Stanford University. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2012, shared with Lloyd Shapley, for the theory of stable allocations and the practice of market design. He is one of the architects of modern matching market design, having redesigned the systems used in the United States to match medical residents to hospitals and students to schools. A previous book, Who Gets What — and Why, was published in 2014. Research cited in this episodeRepugnant transactions is Alvin Roth's term for a class of transactions that are controversial not because no one wants to engage in them — that would be disgust — but because some people do want to engage in them and others believe they should not be allowed to, typically on moral or religious grounds. The key feature is that the objectors suffer no direct externality from the transaction; their objection is to the thing happening at all, regardless of whether it affects them. Roth's examples across the book include medical aid in dying, kidney sales, paid blood plasma donation, surrogacy, and access to certain drugs. The policy implication is that repugnant transactions, unlike ordinary market failures, cannot be resolved by standard economic tools; they require explicit engagement with the moral contest and careful mechanism design to decide what is permitted, to whom, under what conditions.Oregon's Death with Dignity Act (1997) was the first US state law permitting physician-assisted dying. It requires a terminal diagnosis with death expected within six months, confirmation from two physicians, a waiting period, and self-administration of the medication by the patient. According to the 2024 report of the Oregon Health Authority, assisted dying accounts for roughly 0.9% of all deaths in Oregon; many patients who obtain a prescription never use it. Oregon's 27 years of data make it the most-studied model for the policy, and its take-up rates and population demographics have informed both advocates and critics in other jurisdictions.Ezekiel Emanuel and vulnerable populations: A 2016 paper by physician and bioethicist Ezekiel Emanuel and co-authors examined the demographics of patients who access assisted dying in jurisdictions where it is legal and found no evidence that vulnerable populations — defined by disability, age, mental illness, or socioeconomic status — accessed it at higher rates than the broader population of dying patients. Roth cites this as evidence against the argument that legalisation creates pressure on the vulnerable to choose death, while noting that this population-level finding does not rule out individual cases of pressure. The Hippocratic Oath is the earliest recorded professional commitment by physicians not to participate in assisted dying. Roth notes that Hippocrates formulated the oath in the fifth century CE, and that the very inclusion of a prohibition on helping patients die implies the practice was already occurring — physicians were being asked to do it. The religious objection — that decisions about life and death belong to God — and the medical objection — that a physician's role is to save life, not end it — have both been consistent features of opposition to assisted dying across more than two millennia. The Canadian Supreme Court decision (Carter v. Canada, 2015) struck down Canada's criminal prohibition on physician-assisted dying on the grounds that it infringed Canadians' constitutional rights to life and to security of the person. The court's reasoning included the counterintuitive argument that denying access to assisted dying could cause people to end their lives earlier and less safely — while still capable of doing so — out of fear of being unable to later. The Canadian framework that followed is more permissive than US state laws: it does not require a terminal diagnosis but instead an irremediable condition causing intolerable suffering. Canada has since debated, and repeatedly delayed, extending the framework to mental illness as a sole underlying condition.Mechanism design is the field of economics concerned with designing rules, institutions, and processes to achieve desired outcomes, particularly in settings where participants have private information or conflicting interests. Roth is one of its leading practitioners. In the context of assisted dying, mechanism design asks: who can apply, through what process, verified by whom, with what waiting periods, and with what safeguards against coercion or mistaken diagnosis? The differences between Oregon's model (terminal diagnosis, self-administration, annual reporting), Canada's model (irremediable suffering, physician or nurse practitioner administration permitted), and Switzerland's model (available to non-residents) are, in Roth's framing, different mechanism designs with measurably different outcomes.More VoxTalks Economics episodesIn February, Tim spoke to Martin Ellison and Julian Ashwin about what decisions seniors will take about their later years and whether policy can accommodate both their abilities and their needs. Listen to The Economic Consequences of Living Longer.

Eric Ries shares how financial 'gravity' pulls great companies away from their founders' purpose, and his solutions in his new book Incorruptible (Authors Equity, 2026) Join us for a uniquely provocative conversation between our host, Richard Lucas, and renowned entrepreneur and "Lean Startup" author Eric Ries on his new book, Incorruptible. Moving beyond the surface-level summary, Richard intentionally focuses on the book's deep ethical and moral core, giving Ries the space to clarify and elaborate on his most challenging ideas.1 This is not your typical book tour stop. Richard dives into what he finds "particularly interesting," exploring why founders must prioritize building an enterprise "worth protecting" from the start—a business whose mission is protected by structural guardrails. Richard highlights memorable quotes from Eric's book, including:1 "Not every form of making money is equally good."1 "The more golden the goose, the stronger the temptation to butcher it."1 Ries explains that without these defenses, a universal, systemic force he calls "financial gravity" will inevitably pull the organization toward short-term profit maximization over "human flourishing". He argues that waiting until a business is successful to put in guardrails is "too late" because success attracts predators. Taking the principled path, though harder, Ries believes, unlocks "almost unbelievable superpowers". The discussion drills down into practical, yet philosophical questions: Can any system resist a corrupt leader? Richard challenges Ries on the possibility of an ethical defense military technology company (like those defending Ukraine), leading Ries to clarify that technology is neutral; the danger lies in who controls it. They also explore the failure of modern management practices, discussing how reliance on metrics like average hold time can create "false proxies" that actively make customer service worse. Finally, Ries advocates for a powerful solution for corporate governance: a universal director's oath, similar to the Hippocratic Oath, to bind corporate leadership to a commitment to the mission.1 Tune in to hear Ries's candid reflections, including his personal belief that integrity is not merely ethical, but a competitive advantage—the true foundation for economic success, while emphasizing the first step for every founder and entrepreneur: "First, create something worth protecting Links & References Incorruptible: Why Good Companies Go Bad…and How Great Companies Stay Great Book release date is May 26 in the US, May 28 worldwide Amazon listing Website: here Seth Godin on false metrics Frankenstein, Incorporated by I Maurice Wormser Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of Next in Media, I sit down with Ryan Detert, CEO of Influential, the creator marketing company that was acquired by Publicis in 2024. Since the acquisition, Influential has seen massive growth, also acquiring Captiv8 to build out a global offering combining technology, services, and measurement all in one place. Ryan and I dig into how brands are structuring their creator teams, why a center of excellence led by media is where the most success is happening, and how technology (especially brand safety tools) has become the non negotiable foundation for scaling influencer campaigns. We also cover the measurement question that every marketer is asking: can you prove creator ROI? Ryan walks us through how MMMs are finally capturing creator value, why always on strategies beat tentpole campaigns, and how platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram are each fighting for attention in different ways. We get into the AI question too, from "slop" concerns to the future of creator likeness licensing and NIL rights. Ryan makes the case that AI will transform the back end of the business (speed, sourcing, brand safety) long before it replaces human creators in the feed. Plus, Ryan shares why the greatest ROI often comes from 100 micro creators rather than one mega deal. __________________________________________________ Key Highlights

Dr. Mavrakakis, a physician and medical freedom advocate, challenges us to rethink the role of medicine, government, and society in safeguarding the most fundamental human right: the right to life.Drawing on powerful real-life stories from her medical career and unflinching honesty about her own experiences, Dr. Mavrakakis explores how far modern medicine and public policy have drifted from their original purpose. From the meaning of the Hippocratic Oath to the failures of informed consent, from debates on abortion, organ donation, and euthanasia to the emerging threat of AI and human identity, she asks the hard questions that most avoid — and demands that we redefine what it means to be human before it's too late.Irene Mavrakakis, MD is a physician in a private practice and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is the host of the podcast Liberty Speaks w/ Dr. Mav. She lectures on medical freedom and its Constitutional basis, and is the author of the Medical Freedom chapter in the book "A Gold New Deal." Something has gone terribly wrong with American medicine. The COVID pandemic broke the back of trust in our public health officials. There is an affordability crisis. Medical ethics have degraded to the point that doctors no longer take the Hippocratic Oath. Chronic diseases are on the rise, particularly in children. It has all become such a mess. Modern medicine is veering away from the traditional Hippocratic Oath that required physicians to do no harm and use their knowledge and skills solely for the purpose of healing the patient, says psychiatrist and bioethics expert Dr. Aaron Kheriaty. Now, physicians are euthanizing patients, removing healthy organs in certain transgender-related surgeries, and injecting drugs for late-term abortions even when the mother's life is not threatened.Hippocratic principles are being superseded by utilitarian ethics that prioritize the “greater good” over the well-being and rights of individual patients, Kheriaty says. That's fueling, for instance, the push to expand the dead-donor eligibility criteria for organ donations. It's also manifesting in the push to adopt technological advancements like germ-line gene editing that could be used to create “designer babies” or in vitro gametogenesis (IVG), a process that uses stem cells, such as those derived from skin cells, to create human eggs and sperm in a lab.Earlier this year, an op-ed in the MIT Technology Review argued for the creation of “spare” human bodies called “bodyoids.” These would essentially be human bodies created in laboratories from human stem cells, but without brains or consciousness. Proponents say they would revolutionize medical research and drug testing and create an unlimited supply of organs. It sounds like the stuff of science fiction. What are the true ethical implications? Is this really where we want medicine to go?Kheriaty is the director of the bioethics and American democracy program at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and former director of the medical ethics program at UCI Health. His latest book is titled “Making the Cut: How to Heal Modern Medicine.”“The biggest advance [that] medicine needs to make is to accept the limits of medicine,” he says.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.
In this episode, Dave interviews Mitchell Johnson, chief product development officer at Sonatype, about the notion of a Hippocratic Oath for developers, where you do no harm to the codebase, and how AI is impacting that. They discuss:The responsibility a developer has to keeping their codebase healthy whenever they add a new featureHow being able to output code faster with AI makes it harder to have visibility into how changes impact downstream systemsHow AI assisted coding may actually slow things down
With the recent tragic death of Christian and political activist Charlie Kirk, it is more essential than ever for us as Christians to move forward in civil dialogue with those who are not Christians about what it means to be human. From Ancient Greece and Rome to our culture today, it is clear that a lack of understanding of who God really inevitably results in not properly understanding who we are as human beings. This week we continue our conversation with historian, author, and mother Nadya Williams about what we can learn from history about the sanctity and value of human life and be encouraged to hold fast to our confession of faith, for a world that needs real hope. Nadya Williams (from the publisher website): Nadya Williams (PhD, Princeton) walked away from academia after fifteen years as a professor of history and classics. She is now a homeschool mom, book review editor at Current, and a contributing editor at Providence magazine. She is the author of Cultural Christians in the Early Church (Zondervan Academic, 2023), and numerous articles and essays in Current, Plough, Christianity Today, Front Porch Republic, Fairer Disputations, Law and Liberty, Church Life Journal, and others. What happens when doctors stop healing and start judging? Imagine walking into a hospital with your sick child and being told, “Sorry, you didn't comply — no treatment.” It sounds dystopian, but this terrifying “comply or die” mindset is quietly creeping into modern healthcare. In this episode, we expose how politics, moral grandstanding, and cancel culture are rewriting the Hippocratic Oath. Studio Sponsor: Cardio Miracle - "Unlock the secret to a healthier heart, increased energy levels, and transform your cardiovascular fitness like never before.": CardioMiracle.com/TBNS Medicine used to be about one simple principle: care for the person in front of you. But now? Some healthcare professionals openly admit they're “out of compassion” for patients who think differently, vote differently, or reject certain treatments. This isn't medicine — it's moral policing with a stethoscope. We dive deep into the stories that prove it — from doctors refusing patients over vaccine status to hospitals debating ICU priority based on compliance. Brian connects the dots between compassion fatigue, political tribalism, and the erosion of trust that's leaving millions afraid to even see a doctor. But this isn't just about COVID. In his second appearance on Masters of Moments, John Grossman joins Jake Wurzak for a deep dive into the philosophy behind his company's approach to design, operations, and long-term ownership in hospitality. John discusses why “not fighting the building” remains a guiding principle for every renovation, how his team balances creativity with practicality, and the mindset that drives their additive development strategy. The conversation explores the Arizona Grand Resort renovation, the rebranding of Laguna's Casa Loma Beach Hotel, and how music, lighting, and landscaping are used to create emotionally resonant guest experiences. They discuss: The “Hippocratic Oath” of design and how to avoid overbuilding Lessons from large-scale repositioning projects like Arizona Grand Creating timeless design through restraint, light, and color How thoughtful landscaping and lighting can redefine a property's atmosphere Integrating music and art as central elements of hospitality design Links: Grossman Company Properties - https://www.grossmancompany.com/ Connect & Invest with Jake: Follow Jake on X: https://x.com/JWurzak 1 on 1 coaching with Jake: https://www.jakewurzak.com/coaching Learn How to Invest with DoveHill: https://bit.ly/3yg8Pwo Topics: (00:00:00) - Intro (00:01:01) - The Hippocratic oath of physical space (00:03:38) - Investing in existing assets vs. pure development (00:05:49) - Arizona Grand Resort renovation (00:09:52) - Balancing cost and design in hotel renovations (00:26:43) - The importance of landscaping and exterior experiences (00:37:09) - Changes in hospitality industry (00:42:58) - Challenges in the current market (00:44:47) - Inspiration from Consortium Holdings (00:55:07) - Repositioning iconic hotels (01:13:51) - Innovative music programming (01:19:42) - Closing thoughts and recommendations
Mothers and children were devalued in ancient Greco-Roman society. The advent of Christianity, however, introduced a radically different perspective - that every human being at every level of society has value and worth because we are all made in the image of God, the Imago Dei. What can we learn from the early Christians about valuing human life and what it means to live as a Christian in the world but not of it? We talk with historian, author, and mother Nadya Williams about these and other issues pertaining to the value and worth of human beings both in ancient societies and in our own. Are we living in The Gilded Age of medicine? So many of the challenges we face in healthcare today are rooted in the motivations of the people holding the purse strings, and unfortunately for us (and our patients) those motivations aren't always aligned with the Hippocratic Oath. Wendy and Matt dig into the history of corporate greed in this country, and how that history may be repeating itself.
Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast episode 164! Sky Tate was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She was actively involved in the performing arts, particularly dance. Initially, Sky envisioned a career as a dancer and pursued it as one of two majors in college. However, balancing dance and architecture proved overwhelming due to the rigorous studio hours required for both disciplines. After several hospital visits due to exhaustion and stress, Sky focused solely on architecture. After completing her education, Sky moved to Los Angeles, California, where she gained diverse work experience. She worked independently as a residential designer, contributed to a design-build firm, and held a position at an interior design firm. Eventually, Sky discovered a unique opportunity to run a maker-space program at a private K-12 school. During this time, she also volunteered with various organizations ranging from arts and engineering to homeless outreach. She enjoyed weekly contact improvisation meetups with fellow dancers. Life was fulfilling in Los Angeles, but then she met her future husband, who was living in Utah at the time. They married in L.A. and subsequently moved to South Jordan, Utah. While on their honeymoon, Sky became pregnant with their first child. The pregnancy was challenging due to an overproduction of relaxin, leading to Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD), which severely impacted mobility. By the third month, simple tasks like walking became difficult, and there were instances where she was unable to get off the floor without assistance. She always hoped this would be the least of her concerns about her pregnancy. The assumption is that if a mother is very active before pregnancy, she'll have an easy pregnancy -- that was not her experience. The delivery went as anticipated, but complications arose when the baby required care in the NICU. The hospital experience was fraught with inadequate support and a lack of professionalism in both Sky's and the baby's care. She was discharged without being seen by their attending physician, and concerns were dismissed until a follow-up with her ObGyn revealed that she had developed postpartum preeclampsia. This condition reappeared after the birth of her second child and necessitated medication for over a year. This ordeal has motivated Sky to use every opportunity to educate other women about postpartum preeclampsia and the importance of self-advocacy in medical settings. Although doctors are bound by the Hippocratic Oath, biases can still impact patient care. Pregnancy and childbirth are the most vulnerable and challenging events that most women will face in their lifetime, but it's also one where we naturally hand all of the decisions to our doctors. She used the same ObGyn for both of her children, but the experience at the two hospitals was night and day. And the way she sees it, it's about advocating for oneself. Six months after the birth of her second child, Sky and her family relocated to Southwest Florida, where they faced the loss of their home due to multiple evacuations over two and a half years. While simultaneously working toward homesteading goals and homeschooling her children, the family decided to leave Florida and embark on a new chapter --- embracing a life filled with renewed interest and beauty. Did you know: the original Hippocratic Oath is a vow to other healing gods? Are you searching for true healing, but feeling lost in the complexities of the modern healthcare system? Do you sense a disconnect between physical treatments and a deeper, spiritual well-being? Melia unfolds a fascinating discussion about the original Hippocratic Oath, the cornerstone of medical ethics, to reveal its ancient origins - as a vow to other healing gods. In this compelling episode, Michael Jaco brings together Scott McKay and Dr. Kirk Moore for a powerful discussion that challenges mainstream narratives and exposes truths hidden from the public eye. Dr. Moore, recently thrust into the spotlight for his courageous stand against coercive medical mandates, shares his firsthand experience of persecution, resilience, and ultimate vindication. Scott McKay, known as the Patriot Streetfighter, adds his perspective on the broader war being waged against freedom, sovereignty, and the American way of life. Together, they and Michael explore the deep corruption within institutions, the manipulation of public perception, and the ongoing spiritual and cultural battle that defines this moment in history. This conversation sheds light on the courage it takes to defy oppressive systems — and why truth-tellers must continue to rise in the face of overwhelming odds. This episode is more than commentary — it's a rallying cry for patriots to question, resist, and reclaim their voice in the fight for liberty. 00:00 Introduction: Foundational Principles 01:25 Live from Dallas: Back Home 02:11 Tactical Civics Movement 02:39 Charlie Kirk Assassination: Initial Reactions 03:04 In-House Studio and Special Guests 03:42 Analyzing the Assassination 05:28 False Flag Operations and Public Reactions 09:02 Deep State and White Hat Operations 14:31 Historical Context and Future Implications 40:26 Pushing Back Against Misinformation 40:59 The Power of Truth and Resistance 41:54 The Great Awakening and Spiritual Engagement 43:23 Political Shifts and Global Reactions 44:48 Exposing Corruption and Hidden Agendas 46:48 The Role of Israel and Global Politics 52:27 The Deep State and Personal Revelations 54:34 Courage in the Face of Adversity 55:45 Dr. Kirk Moore's Journey and Medical Career 57:11 Challenging Vaccine Mandates and Legal Battles 01:00:16 The Fight Against COVID-19 Misinformation 01:06:05 Calling Out Medical and Governmental Failures 01:16:52 Critique of Medical Practices and Mask Mandates 01:18:08 The Ineffectiveness of Masks and the CDC's Stance 01:20:01 The Psychological Impact and Public Perception 01:20:44 The Role of Healthcare Workers During the Pandemic 01:23:31 Personal Stories and Experiences in Healthcare 01:25:12 The Hippocratic Oath and Medical Ethics 01:26:27 The Impact of COVID-19 on Medical Professionals 01:29:05 Resistance Against COVID-19 Measures 01:32:55 Political and Social Commentary 01:49:28 Concluding Thoughts and Future Outlook LANDING PAGE for people to get a "FREE" precious metals consultation with Dr. Kirk Elliott: https://www.kepm.com/jaco/ Affordable Cell Activation Technology with LifeWave: Experience miracles with a deep discount as a Brand Partner https://www.lifewave.com/michaeljaco https://michaelkjaco.com/liveyoungerwithmj/ Power of the Patch Information Resource: Go to: https://liveyounger.com/ AGE REVERSAL WITH GHK-Cu Copper Peptides contained in X-39 and X-49 https://copperpeptidebreakthrough.com Join us every week for Michael Jaco's Miracle Monday Meeting at 6:00 PM EST for Product Testimonials & Questions This 50 Minute Meeting Will Teach You Everything You Need To Know About Phototherapy & LifeWave!! ~ Great for Guests, Customers & Brand Partners ~ ⏬ Click the link below for Meeting access ⏬ Join Zoom Meeting https://us06web.zoom.us/j/87949021063 JoinMichaels Business Builder Webinar ~ Friday 6:00 EST Tune in weekly to Michael Jaco's LifeWave Business Builder Webinars feature LifeWave's top leaders sharing proven strategies, business tips, and real-world success stories to help you grow your organization and achieve lasting financial success. ⏬ Click the link below for Webinar access ⏬ https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86714931635?pwd=WQ8UTQc8o95A1g5q7bOAnRW79mPJep.1 Shop Intuitive Wellness Products to reverse the devastating effects of the vaccine impacts on cardiovascular, reproduction and greater potential for death at any time in history. Kirk Moore, MD, is a plastic surgeon who literally stands for “truth, beauty, and goodness.” He is a genuine American hero. Many of us admire Dr. Moore for protecting his patients, children, and adults, by giving them medical certificates stating he had given them the Covid jab when he had not. Following the Hippocratic Oath of “Do no harm,” Dr. Moore saved people from death and an infinite number of other harms, including heart disease, neurologic disease, sterility and miscarriages, cancers, impaired cognition and emotional control, and the passing on of newly defective genes. Dr. Moore was not only saving the people themselves from the deadly shots, but he was also helping everyone who relied upon them or loved them. If we look at who was most affected by the mandates and hence came to him for the certificates, many would have been among the most harmed by the mandates, such as healthcare providers and emergency responders. And he was saving children who needed the protection of adults against medical abuse. Dr. Moore was charged with enough crimes by the Biden administration to put him in prison for 35 years, beyond the average lifespan of a 59-year-old man. Then, despite public outrage among Trump supporters, the Trump Administration went along with having Dr. Moore hauled into a courtroom and put on trial. Finally, after five days of grueling trial, Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statement that the trial was ending, and the government would not be allowed to bring any further trials. A major question quickly entered our minds: “Was the Trump administration protecting the vaccine instead of Dr. Moore by ending the trial?” This aligns with the agreement forced on Dr. Moore, which prohibited him from suing the government for financial or other damages. These damages were enormous, stemming from both his practice and his attorney fees, including five grueling days of trial. Did the government do this because they wanted to avoid a new trial where, unlike the current trial, Dr. Moore would be allowed to bring in his own experts on how damaging the COVID jabs were? The judge had thus far prohibited Dr. Moore from bringing in his own medical and scientific experts to confirm how dangerous the vaccines were, and Dr. Moore might have the opportunity if he brought his own case against the government. Then we interviewed Sasha Latypova — a researcher whom we deeply respect. Both Sasha and Katherine Watt, another researcher we deeply respect, were consultants to Dr. Moore leading up to the trial, and he tells us in the interview how appreciative he is of them and their contributions. Sasha, in her interview, told us that the government had made many mistakes, potentially forcing the judge to take the restraints off Dr. Moore and his team, who wanted to question witnesses about how bad the vaccines are. But in talking with Dr. Moore, who clearly feels grateful for the Trump administration finally intervening on his side, there was more at stake than we thought in regard to protecting the vaccines. As Dr. Moore described the events of the five days in the final part of this new interview with us, we could see a change in his own analysis. As the last few days of the trial unraveled, it began to dawn on all of us that he could have won the trial! The government was not only trying to stop further discovery about how bad the vaccines were, but the government must also have become afraid that they could actually lose the jury trial. Not only being able to do discovery in ways that never have been done before, but also winning a jury trial for a doctor who defied the government's attempt to control his relationship with his physician, would have reaffirmed the basic medical ethics that Covid-19 utterly wrecked. A victory by Dr. Moore would have helped to restore the sacredness of the doctor-patient relationship, the right and necessity of doctors to give informed consent, and to do their best not to harm their patients, even if ordered by the government to harm them. Dr. Moore set a clear and heroic example as a physician who put his ethics and his patients' well-being ahead of the powers of government. That's potentially earth-shaking. And this isn't David merely fighting another larger mortal named Goliath; it is David against Leviathan, the whale of the entire government, seeking to devour us humans one by one. As I mentioned earlier, Ginger and I had already concluded that the only reason Attorney General Bondi stopped the trial was the growing possibility that Dr. Moore and his attorneys would get the right to do discovery on how evil the Covid project was, especially its “vaccines.” In other words, President Donald Trump did not want the public learning more about how bad the vaccines are. I had already written a Substack to that conclusion based on our interview with Shasha Latypova, who was a consultant to the trial, a researcher who Dr. Moore also deeply appreciates. I asked Dr. Moore before the show if I could raise questions about bad motivations on the part of the Trump Administration, letting the trial even start, then stopping it abruptly. He said it was fine to discuss it, and we did this in the final segment of the show. As you listen to the final segment, you may get the impression that Dr. Moore, good man that he is, and grateful to the President as well, only reluctantly wants to support what comes out. What comes out is this: Dr. Moore and his team not only stood a good chance of getting to do discovery on how bad the shots are, they were making so many good points, they might even have won the trial. Trump really is protecting not only Operation Warp Speed, but also continuing to market the same mRNA genetic shots. Indeed, he is probably protecting the deadly mRNA platforms' billion-dollar industry that is being created to produce a seemingly endless variety of products and uses to be injected into our bodies. This is a national emergency, not a mere political disagreement. The Trump administration's healthcare policies, as announced by Robert F. Kennedy, include wearables (chips that can go over your skin or under it). Along with that action, RFK is now announcing a fully digitalized universal medical records system that is the last great step toward complete medical surveillance of everyone, to be followed by socialized medicine, to be followed by an even more totalitarian government. We need to gain courage from the actions of heroes and patriots like Dr. Kirk Moore and resist every effort to trample upon our Constitutional rights and our God-given freedoms.
Psychiatrist Sabooh S. Mubbashar discusses his article, "Why 'do no harm' might be harming modern medicine." He reveals that the principle "First, do no harm," or Primum non nocere, is not part of the original Hippocratic Oath but a later, misattributed addition that has become a dangerously oversimplified slogan. Sabooh argues that a literal interpretation makes medicine impossible, as every intervention, from surgery to medication, technically inflicts harm. This creates a dissonance for clinicians and can paradoxically lead to overly aggressive care, especially at the end of life, where the pressure to "do everything" causes more suffering than benefit. The conversation explores how the interplay of this flawed mantra with patient autonomy and fear of liability can lead to choices that are legally defensible but ethically and clinically harmful. As a solution, he suggests returning to the oath's original, more honest language, which calls on physicians to use their "ability and judgment" to weigh risk and benefit, acknowledging that real ethics live not in mottos but in the nuanced, gray areas of clinical practice. Dr. Kirk Moore is a hero of the COVID wars. He administered saline shots instead of COVID vaccines to his patients and issued vaccine cards to them, allowing them to continue with their work or school. In doing so, Dr. Moore preserved the health of his patients and fulfilled his Hippocratic Oath to do no harm. He was subsequently charged by the Biden administration in 2023 with violating laws that resulted in “sabotaging” the rollout of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines. Appeals to the new Trump administration to pardon the doctor or dismiss the case were ignored, and the trial moved forward. Jury selection was done, and the discovery phase had begun. The trial had gone on for one week. Officials were being interrogated on the witness stand. Colleagues, patients, friends, and patriots filled the courtroom, and a growing awareness of this ongoing travesty of justice was evident through social media. Then, in the eleventh hour, the charges were suddenly dropped. US Attorney General Pam Bondi said, “Dr. Moore gave his patients a choice when the federal government refused to do so. He did not deserve the years in prison he was facing. It ends today.” She undoubtedly acted with the approval, if not the insistence, of President Trump. And it really was over, because there was a provision that the government could not bring it again. At first, it seemed like a miracle. Everyone we know was delighted for Dr. Moore and his loved ones, and so were we. However, a compromise agreement was forced on Dr. Moore as part of the government's decision to drop the case: Dr. Moore would NOT be allowed to sue the government for costs. In addition to the caveat, the whole thing began to look suspicious. There was no ripple effect. Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr's Health and Human Services was still endorsing the vaccine for large populations of patients. Anyone over 65 years of age was supposed to receive it, as was anyone else who had pre-existing conditions, including pregnant and nursing mothers, and babies 6 months of age and older. This meant that there were literally hundreds of thousands of patients who ran the risk of being murdered or disabled by lifelong conditions due to the ongoing distribution of the vaccines. A significant number of patients, especially among the elderly, the ill, and pregnant women and their children, would die before their natural time, from heart disease, from a damaged immune system, from miscarriage or stillbirth, to hundreds of other identified adverse effects of the jab. Was there an increasing awareness in the administration about the damage done by the mRNA vaccines? Was this ending of the trial an acknowledgement of the heroism this physician demonstrated in protecting his patients from the potentially deadly effects of the COVID-19 vaccine? Were we going to see mRNA vaccines suspended and banned? Damaged patients recognized and helped? Charges brought against those responsible for creating and pushing the toxic, deadly mRNA bioweapons upon a gaslit public? “Trump and Bondi are stopping discovery!” All of this was puzzling us, until Ginger Breggin realized in a flash, “Trump and Bondi are stopping discovery. They don't want the public hearing revelations about the COVID-19 and deadly jabs.” But we remained puzzled about the timing. Why wait so long into the trial before ending it? Was it just to stretch out the punishment of the good doctor and those who care about him, as well as those who want to see a full investigation and rejection of the COVID-19 attack on humanity? And there was that caveat to the ending of the trial, a compromise demanded by the government — that Dr. Moore agree not to sue. Enter Sasha Latypova Our radio interview with Sasha Latypova, released on podcast on July 18, 2025, has helped clarify our understanding of the government's conduct. Latypova is a very successful retired pharmaceutical consultant who has become a reformer, initially in response to the travesties of COVID-19. She is now among the very top of vaccine and pharmaceutical experts in the entire health freedom and freedom movement. She, along with another great freedom fighter, Katherine Watt, had helped Dr. Moore's legal team develop his defense. In our interview with Latypova, she reports that the judge had initially ruled against Dr. Moore presenting critical information in his defense about the deadliness of the vaccines. The government allowed the trial to begin and continue because it had no fear of COVID-19 disclosures coming to light. Nothing would come up to discredit Trump's beloved Operation Warp Speed and to bring the global conspiracy crashing down. But the government made a mistake by bringing up one of the suppressed subjects. So the judge now lifted the secrecy of specific materials about the murderous effects of the vaccines that Dr. Moore was refusing to give to his patients. Kirk Moore's team was about to blow open the whole Covid Murderous Scam. A Comment by Dr. Breggin In my legal work as a medical expert, I have testified in cases where judges have ruled out my bringing up information that would harm the other side's case, and sometimes I have been able to legally get past the prohibition. In a case against St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, DC, an older man was petitioning for release after decades of horrendous, involuntary incarceration. At the start of the trial, the judge ruled that I could not testify about my findings in the hospital records that the man had been repeatedly sexually abused since he was hospitalized as a teenager, causing his condition to vastly deteriorate over many years of being abused while locked up. After my direct testimony, in which I was not allowed to discuss the most important issue in the case, the repeated sexual abuse of my client, I now had to face cross-examination by an attorney representing the hospital. During the cross-examination, the increasingly hostile lawyer for the hospital asked me in a sneering fashion, thinking he would trap me in front of the jury, “If the patient is not schizophrenic as every hospital doctor has diagnosed him for decades, what's your diagnosis?” I responded, “Chronic Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Due to Repeated Sexual Abuse in the Hospital.” Of course, the lawyer protested that I had broken the rules, but the judge replied, “You asked him the question, counselor, and he gave an appropriate answer.” The judge ruled that the answer would be allowed, and then I was able to amplify it with the hospital records during re-cross by the victim's attorney. Probably because this incriminating material of severe injustice was brought to light, the jury gave the remarkable and unexpected opinion that the man was not mentally ill and that the hospital must find a better, safer placement for him. From Dr. Peter Breggin's resume: 1991: In Washington, D.C. in Richey v. St. Elizabeth's Hospital, an elderly man involuntarily hospitalized since his teenage years and now suffering from post-traumatic dementia brought an action to be released from St. Elizabeths Hospital in DC on the grounds that he was not mentally ill. He chose a jury trial. Dr. Breggin testified that the young man had not been severely disturbed when admitted for problems with truancy but was raped in the hospital, an event leading to a lifetime of incarceration in the institution. Dr. Breggin documented incidents of physical and sexual abuse in the hospital throughout the inmate's lifetime hospital stay from his teenage to his elder years. Dr. Breggin also testified on the impact of multiple medications, electroshock, repeated sexual abuse, and chronic institutionalization on the man as a teenager, adult, and elder. The jury found for the patient, declaring that he was not mentally ill, and by implication, that he was a victim of chronic, continuing abuse. The judge ordered the hospital to facilitate his release to a less restrictive environment. We believe the Trump administration stopped the case against Dr. Kirk Moore precisely in order to prevent shocking discoveries which would have finally shed public light on Covid jab deaths and destruction, and the massive global coverup. And that is also why they had to stop Dr. Moore from bringing another embarrassing case, asking to be refunded his enormous costs from the legal fees and his loss of income. The only explanation that makes sense is that the charges against Dr. Kirk Moore were dropped to avoid discovery under oath in a court of law of officials who had participated in the greatest product liability negligence and fraud cases in the history of medicine — virtual mass murder. We, the American people, are witnesses to the Trump regime becoming coconspirators in the ongoing program to destroy freedom and human life under the fraudulent banner of public health responses to pandemics. The global predators behind all this are clearly planning to do this to us again and again as a major bioweapon against humanity and human freedom. In this amazing interview with Sasha Latypova, she describes another case in which she is involved, in this other case not only as a consultant but as a potential expert witness. The new case is Dutch, and it's against Bill Gates and other “vaccine” masterminds for genocide! Latypova describes chilling factors surrounding the case in Europe that will confirm her incredible courage and honesty in participating, while it re-emphasizes that the governing powers across the Western World are intent on protecting COVID-19 as a model for keeping us in line, while depopulating us and weakening our resistance to them. A Final Comment by Ginger Breggin Prior to Dr. Moore's trial, we had already watched with dismay as the FDA, under Secretary Kennedy's leadership, approved a new Moderna vaccine. Truth be told, I should have seen it then. A lifetime ago, in my own childhood, an epidemic of birth defects that were both shocking and profound emerged. Newborn infants, with severely foreshortened arms or legs, sometimes missing altogether, or with other damage to eyes, ears, genitals, or internal organs, faced a lifetime of challenges. Some babies were so badly deformed that they could not survive, dying shortly after birth. The causative drug, thalidomide, was pulled from the global market. It took the individual courage and tenacity of Dr. Frances Oldham Kelsey, a physician and reviewer in the FDA, to ensure the drug was never approved for use in the United States, and thus only 17 cases emerged domestically. This time, despite the disastrous and continuing rise in deaths and injuries from the mRNA vaccines, there is only denial. Surviving victims of the rollout of the COVID jab have been ignored and pushed aside, unacknowledged by the very agencies tasked with guarding the health of Americans. Instead of preventing an epidemic (which was never the threat we were told it would be) the supposed ‘solution' foisted upon us in a time of great fear has caused an epidemic of sudden deaths, turbo cancers, deadly white “clots” that were never before seen, heart attacks, heart failure, neurological disabilities, immune system failures, and untold suffering by patients and their families. And all of this is denied and covered up by our government. The People of America Will Have to Push for an mRNA Ban The push to abolish these toxic and deadly agents will have to come from the people of America. We are seeing in other arenas that the President of the United States does respond to his base and to his cabinet members. The push must come from the cabinet members involved, not downward from the President of the United States. Especially where the technology is as specialized as in medicine and public health, it is up to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his HHS officials and staff to inform and educate President Trump about the destruction and damage caused by mRNA vaccines and the mRNA platforms that are being massively pushed by the global predators. Trump's advisors owe it to him and to humanity, and otherwise they become coconspirators to their own future genocide trials. We must demand that the government acknowledge the COVID-19 jab deaths and widespread harms and stop all human experiments using mRNA genetic platforms. We must demand that the government acknowledge the wounded and help to ease the burdens of the adverse effects inflicted upon them. The “experiment” should be over. It is time to stop the obvious killing and mayhem. Indeed, the call for further studies on current mRNA vaccines, as RFK Jr. suggested, is a travesty in the face of the great experimentation that turned into a massacre. We, the wounded, the doctors treating the wounded, the public citizens who have had their eyes opened through the dreadful witnessing of death or disability of loved ones and friends and neighbors — we have to carry the message. We must warn our fellow citizens and demand that the administration — whomever is in office — abandon this toxic, destructive, practice that masquerades as a “treatment.” Nobody is being treated. And millions have already died. For the sake of all Americans and humanity, abandon this madness. Oklahoma GOP advances bill letting Christian doctors deny services to patientsThe Friendly Atheist, By Hemant Mehta, on March 5, 2025https://www.friendlyatheist.com/p/oklahoma-gop-advances-bill-lettingThe ongoing discussion centers around House Bill 1006 in Oklahoma, which would allow medical professionals to refuse care based on personal ethical, moral, or religious beliefs. This controversial bill is perceived as a direct attack on individual autonomy, placing people's well-being at risk in favor of religious freedom. The debate escalates into questions about the ethics of healthcare, especially regarding religious objections to certain treatments like abortion or gender-affirming care. Panelists discuss the implications of such a bill, with Tracy arguing that this stems from entitlement and a refusal to empathize with those in need of care. The conversation expands to the broader issue of personal beliefs interfering with professional duties. One panelist points out that if religious beliefs are allowed to dictate medical practice, it opens the door for prejudices based on race, gender, or sexual orientation, which could further harm marginalized groups. There's also the concern that emergency care could be undermined if doctors interpret situations in ways that align with their personal beliefs. The Hippocratic Oath, which doctors take to promise "do no harm," is brought into question. The law's potential to undermine this oath is a serious concern, as medical professionals could choose to withhold care based on subjective ethical reasoning. While some argue that religious freedoms should allow for such refusals, others see this as a dangerous precedent. Emergency situations might provide an exception, but the vagueness of what constitutes an emergency leads to further potential abuse. Ultimately, the bill would create a system where healthcare is treated as a privilege rather than a right, accessible only to those whose values align with those of their doctors. The Non-Prophets, Episode 24.11.1 featuring Helen Greene, Eli Slack, Kelley Laughlin and Tracy WilbertBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-non-prophets--3254964/support.
What was the 5th leading cause of death in Canada in 2023? Shockingly, it was medical assistance in dying (MAiD) and accounted for one out of every twenty deaths. Unfortunately, Canada is not an anomaly, but part of a global trend in terms of how societies are changing when it comes to sanctity of life—and death. How did we reach this place? Hank Hanegraaff is joined by Dr. Richard Weikert to discuss his book Unnatural Death: Medicine's Descent from Healing to Killing. Weikart explains how the Judeo-Christian tradition has always encouraged a culture of life, but the secular Enlightenment and Darwinian materialism have tugged us in a different direction. Can society reverse course and embrace the sanctity of life once again?Topics discussed include: How studying both the Nazi promotion of euthanasia and Darwinism led Weikert to write Unnatural Death: Medicine's Descent from Healing to Killing (3:15); understanding the different terminology used when discussing euthanasia (5:35); the origins of euthanasia—euthanasia comes from the term “good death”(8:30); different types of passive euthanasia (10:45); how the secularization of our culture and the decline of religion has led to a rise in assisted suicide and euthanasia (14:00); the Hippocratic Oath (20:00); how is suicide presented in the Bible?
