Let's be honest: It's common to have values. It's easy to say that we believe in our values. It's even becoming typical to post our values on signs and inspirational posters at our business - even in our own homes. But it's another thing altogether to answer the question: "How am I behaving my values, right here, right now, in this interaction? In this conversation? Throughout this project?". As leaders, how do we shift our teams away from "Sure, I share the values of this company!" to "I share the values of this company AND I behave those values in clear, trackable ways throughout every shift!". Establishing our shared values is important and necessary to run a healthy business, team or family. Once the foundation of Purpose and Values has been solidified - the real work lies in manifesting values as behaviors. Go there, and watch the shift in yourself, and in your team! Let's talk about it on Episode 5! Episode produced by Jen Quirk. Sound and editing by Jeff Quirk. Intro Song "Hope" by Tobu: https://open.spotify.com/album/55AXsKwtrWdgEJn3KRO7Rk. How often do we have conversations with colleagues, managers, leaders, peers - in which we don't actually say what we are sitting with, deep down? Have you ever left an interaction with someone feeling like your conversation was not quite "bullseye"? And what most likely happened in the days, weeks and months afterward was that things were never quite right between you and that person. Or maybe things have been "fine" or "OK" since then - but not "Amazing!". We frequently skirt an issue or leave a deep, uncomfortable truth unspoken, simply because we are afraid of going there. Afraid of hitting a nerve. On our episode today, we will scratch the surface of a powerful Miick Systems tool - "Moose in the Room". It's so simple, and yet NOT easy! Let's get real, and play! What does accountability look like for each of us? Why do we pick and choose what to "let slide" and what to bring up? When is accountability "Gotcha!" and when is it not? Is our choice as leaders to be either tyrants or softies? How is accountability one piece in the puzzle of leading out of love - not out of fear? What happens when we let go of command and control - and instead train our team how to hold themselves accountable, and how to wake up to their own behaviors and choices? Can managing be less about policing and supervising staff, and more about inspiring and developing human beings? In this episode, we'll talk about all this and more! Episode produced by Jen Quirk. It's not difficult to tell a team member they are doing a great job, or that they aren't doing something exactly how it should be done. But the most impactful, nuanced and sometimes downright complex feedback lies in the vast area in between "Right!" and "Wrong!". How we navigate this area of coaching and course-correcting often determines the trajectory of our team's - and our company's - performance. In this episode, we explore the Miick Feedback System, and talk about how it's working for our team! Intro song "Hope" by Tobu: https://open.spotify.com/album/55AXsKwtrWdgEJn3KRO7Rk.
