Monterey is a city located in Monterey County on the southern edge of Monterey Bay on California's Central Coast. Founded on June 3, 1770, it was the capital of Alta California under both Spain and Mexico. During this period, Monterey hosted California's first theater, public building, public library, publicly funded school, printing press, and newspaper. Given its proximity to Big Sur and Carmel, there is a lot to like about this coastal city and we'll take you through it!

In the 1950s and ’60s, Big Sur became a retreat for artists and writers, including Henry Miller and Beat Generation visionaries such as Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Today Big Sur attracts self-proclaimed artists, new-age mystics, latter-day hippies and city slickers seeking to unplug and reflect more deeply on this emerald-green edge of the continent.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is a small, artisan community located a few hours down the coast from San Francisco. It's the rare mix between rocky coastline, California beaches, and redwood forest. It is perfectly placed a quick 120 miles from the Bay Area, a scenic 330 miles from Los Angeles. It's long been a favorite getaway for us around the holidays. We'll talk secret alley coffee spots, overrated pizza places, and fairytale wineries.
