The life of discipline is an incredible journey that we are blessed to be part of. A significant part of that journey is how we work through bible intake, meditation and prayer. What if we could put those all together? What if there was on discipline that integrated all three into one? Well, it's been done, it's called sacred reading, or perhaps better known as Lectio Divina. Let's journey together through this exciting discipline!
If your growth in godliness was measured by the quality of your Bible intake, what would be the result?
Eastern Meditation has played havoc on our understanding of our own Christian Meditation, consider what it means to truly worship through Meditation.
Understanding what true Christian Meditation is helps us obediently listen to our creator God. Meditation is reflecting all about God's word and actions.
Prayer is learning, prayer is also expected. How do we do prayer in a life that is so busy...let's talk about it.
Breathe prayer comes from the understanding that just as we are unable to live from one breathe of air we are unable to live spiritually with only one breathe from God.
Have you ever wanted to know why we pray or how to pray? This week we begin to reflect on prayer and its many facets beginning with A.C.T.S.
Now that we see the need to really know God and understand ourselves we can dive into what it really means to engage the disciplines, remember, it isn'ÂÂt about what Jesus would do but how Jesus lived.
Often times we begin to know God but ignore the importance of knowing ourselves. When we truly begin to understand ourselves in light of knowing God we can journey in the disciplines far more effectively and more importantly relate better to work of God that Ephesians 1:7-8 talks about: âÂÂIn him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of GodâÂÂs grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
God calls us to grow in the knowledge of Himself (2 Peter 3:18). We need to know who He is, at least begin to understand, in order to truly know and understand ourselves and why the disciplines are necessary.
