In Christianity, for example, during Lent (40 days prior to Easter) and Advent (40 days prior to Christmas), Christans were once forbidden to consume ANY animal flesh as well as as dairy, cheese, and eggs.  In today's episode, we explore this history and demonstrate that not eating animal products was more common than not, especially during the period of contemplation and contrition leading up to the holy days of Easter and Christmas. This lifestyle shift allowed her to lose over 80 lbs. and launch her intermittent fasting website, Facebook support groups, four self-published books, and three top-ranked podcasts—Intermittent Fasting Stories, where Gin talks to a variety of intermittent fasters from around the world, The Intermittent Fasting Podcast, with cohost Melanie Avalon, and Life Lessons, with cohost Sheri Bullock. Gin graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition's Health Coach Training Program (2019). She earned a Doctor of Education degree in Gifted and Talented Education (2009), a Master's degree in Natural Sciences (1997), and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (1990). She taught elementary school for 28 years, and has worked with adult learners in a number of settings. She splits her time between Augusta, Georgia and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she lives with her husband and their three cats. The Longevity Wheel is a graphical representation of the key factors that contribute to longevity, including Nrf2 and AMPK activation, NAD optimization, sirtuin activation, telomere maintenance, senolytics, and the neuroendocrine system. Dr Shade explains how each of these factors plays a role in promoting longevity and discusses the importance of supplementation and lifestyle choices in optimising these pathways. The conversation also touches on the impact of genetics, the role of inflammation in aging, and the benefits of fasting and exercise KEY TAKEAWAYS The Longevity Wheel is a graphical representation of the key factors that can affect longevity. It includes Nrf2 and AMPK at the top, followed by NAD, sirtuins, telomeres, senolytics, and the neuroendocrine system. What is your opinion on IV iron infusions using Ferric carboxymaltose? My iron and ferritin levels have been low for years and my doctor recommended it to me. Thank you   Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral :) I hope you and your family are doing well.. My question is about seasoning the cast iron pan.. we found lots of videos on HOW to do it (they differ but all in all I guess you need to bake the oil into it many times in the oven) but which oil to use? Some say flaxseed, because of its polymerisation properties, others say of course not flax because it becomes toxic when heated.. some say olive oil, others are strongly against it.. so we need your help! ;) You are our favourite source of information! How would you do it? And please don't say lard, because I'm plant-based..
