POPULARITY
Welcome to the Episode 14 of Home is Where the Horror is. Brian and Monica are your horror hosts who want to share their love of all things spooky with you. In tonight’s episode Brian gets to choose the topics so we discuss Session 9 (2001) The Dover Demon Danvers State Hospital Happy New Years...
The TV Boys sit down to discuss what they love about Halloween and the movies and TV shows that give them the creeps.
We get a bit political after watching the documentary #Unfit. But we do lighten up the show with The Masked Singer, The Lie, Carrie Pilby, Deaf U, FAQ About Time Travel, and The Secret Society of Second-Born Royals. And we end with a couple of our scary favorites The Crow, Ed Wood, and Session 9. Plus some news!
Yes, yes, let’s all make the joke now: “I thought Session 8 was better!”. This week our hosts – along with special guest co-host Elizabeth – watch the deceptively standalone Session 9, a 2001 horror film that flew under most moviegoers’ radars at the time, but has since gathered some considerable clout as more horror fans have discovered it. Is this a psychological horror story of a man having a mental breakdown? A haunted tale of possession? Or perhaps a mix of both? Check out the full episode details
We promised an episode that was absolutely MENTAL and that is why our choice for episode 35 had to be Session 9, the 2001 release from director Brad Anderson! In this Horrible tale, a crew of asbestos removers accept an impossible job on a short deadline to try and earn a much-needed bonus at the end of their job. The location: None other than an abandoned and decaying insane asylum.* The set is real with no medical props provided. What begins as a straight-forward job, foreman Gordon “Gordy” Fleming (Peter Mullan) is overworked and stressed as he loses a grip on his home life and it begins to reflect in his sense of reality with every work day that passes. His right hand, Phil (David Caruso) begins to notice something is afoot but can’t quite see the depth of the situation at hand. *Session 9 was filmed in a real, abandoned insane asylum in 2001. The Danvers State Insane Asylum stood abandoned for many years and was able to serve as the set for this incredible film. It was mostly demolished in 2006 to put up apartments to which we say, nay. www.thishorribleplace.com @thishorribleplace
