This week I speak to fintech entrepreneur Abraham Okusanya. From growing up in relative poverty in rural Africa. 3am starts working in the family business while still at school. And obtaining a scholarship to study in the UK. Abraham shows that where you start need not hold you back. A dalliance with consumer debt, at the same time as he was made redundant at the height of the financial crisis, galvanised Abraham to recalibrate his life. Honest money conversations with his new wife, learning new money skills and starting his own consultancy were all part of his money recovery plan. An epiphany during his consultancy work led Abraham to start a financial software company, Timeline App. Today Abraham and his team help people answer the toughest question we all have, 'Am I going to be OK financially?' This is a lovely conversation, full of humility, honesty and good humour, which touches on so many aspects of our relationship with money.
Today Abraham tells us about a local attraction from yesteryear. Erika loves cats, and Patrick can’t think of a single name.
Unlike Abel, Noah and Enoch, the life of Abraham is addressed in the scriptures in detail. As we will note, Abraham did not come from a godly home. In fact, his father was an idol worshiper. Thus, Abraham was brought up in a home with heathen, ungodly ideas. Yet, though he was born into a home of pagan idolaters, he became a great man of God who left an example for those who would follow in his footsteps and walk by faith in the promises of God. - By faith Abraham obeyed the call of God- By faith he went out not knowing where he was going- By faith he dwelt in the foreign land as a stranger- By faith he waited for the city built by God----more---- Today Abraham, the one called as the father of faith is encouraging us and telling us that we are not left as orphans , Jesus is preparing a mansion for us and one day HE is going to comeback to take us home Abraham died but the faith he had on God still speaks to us. By faith Abraham obeyed the call of God, by faith he went out not knowing where he was going, by faith he dwelt in the foreign land as stranger and a pilgrim, by faith he also waited for the city built by God.
Today Abraham win's the award for best dad... NOT! He's actually kinda scary. We also learn very clearly that Abraham bought a cave and then finds a wife for Isaac. If you want MORE drinking and bible-ing, including bonus episodes, interviews with experts, fun mini series’, and more, consider becoming a ‘parishioner’ at Patreon.com/DrunkBibleStudy Our theme music is Book Club by Josh and Anand. The song for the book of Genesis is “Fanfare for Space” by Kevin McLeod (incompetech.com). “All Scripture is God-breathed,” and that includes the Old Testament. In addition to providing a firm foundation for our faith and a God-honoring worldview, it contains some of the most well-known stories of the Christian faith. Join us as we re-visit ancient texts such as creation, Adam and Eve, Noah and the ark and more. As we’ll discover, the stories are not only historically true but—surprisingly—have practical relevance in our lives today. Today: Abraham & Isaac. (Genesis 22:1-18)
