The king plans to march 100 leagues through the forest in 15 days to Winterfell. A feat many of his followers claim his brother Robert would have done in 10 days. But this king is not his brother.Asha watches Stannis's grim procession with a broken ankle and a sharper mind. She recalls kneeling before him to save the last nine of her men and finds no mercy in the king, only duty. The southrons doubted the march but the northmen insisted.Snow begins on the fourth day and never stops. Wagons vanish through ice, men freeze or simply sit down to die. The queen's men call for a sacrifice to please their red god. “Pray harder,” Stannis tells them. Each night brings a smaller campfire and a growing list of losses. By day 20, Asha's cart horse dies. Her shackles come off, but she must walk. The food's gone, the grain's gone, and hope is dwindling. Only the northmen seem unaffected by "autumn's kiss."At last they find a crofter's village. An opportunity to fish the frozen lake and huddle in the storm. Come morning, there are no trumpets, no warhorns, only white silence. (15:30) It's essential to develop the persistence to achieve the success you want. (24:00) Other junk foods, such as Doritos, add protein. But don't be fooled! Adding protein to crappy food doesn't make the crappy food "healthy." (25:00) It's just putting "lipstick on a pig"! Metabolic damage can be seen in just a few short weeks when eating ultra-processed foods. (26:30) Chris discusses a study on weight gain from consuming ultra-processed foods. (27:00) Even if a brand you have used before has clean ingredients, you need to be vigilant and keep checking the ingredients, since companies will often add things that aren't good, such as seed oils. (33:00) California has claimed it will be ridding school lunches of junk food, but it is spreading the goal out over several years. (38:00) There Are Choices GLP-1s are now available as oral medication, but do they cause the same effect as the injectable ones? (49:30) The same dose is marketed as "similar." (51:00) People who have followed and stuck to NSNG have gotten off multiple medications. Personally, Vinnie stays away from certain meds, including hormones, because he wants to avoid a recurring cancer. (53:00) There are often a lot of things you can do before you turn to meds in many cases. (55:00) Proper nutrition, exercise (especially weight training), and things like vitamin D and magnesium help! Vinnie gives an example of how he has naturally improved his testosterone levels. You have to actually push yourself beyond a certain comfort level to see and feel a difference. (1:02:30) Sarcopenia happens to everyone, but you can absolutely fight it. In our latest tribute, Janet, John, (and Pen) celebrate the life and career of the actress, director, producer, and fashion icon whose began to rise to stardom during the New Hollywood movement... Diane Keaton! With a 60-year long career in Hollywood, this actress was always destined to one day be under the limelight, but after seeing her mother win Mrs. Los Angeles her resolve to become a part of the dramatics of performing at a young age only strengthened. She participated in singing and acting club during high school and continued to perform anywhere she could until she was cast as an understudy in the production of Hair (1968). From there she began to rise in the broadway eye, soon being nominated for a Tony as the Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role in Play it Again, Sam (1969). She truly couldn't be stopped as she moved from the stage to the screen with her debut film, Lovers and Other Strangers (1970). Soon after she was being cast in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather (1972) as Kay Adams-Corleone and Woody Allen's Annie Hall (1977), which combined together launched her into stardom and earned her the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Yet his own life was a mixture of struggle and success. In his book, Todd puts it like this, “As with most people, and certainly so many high-achieving people, his strengths were bound up with his weaknesses. It was the youthful trauma of losing everything that made him willing to risk anything. The upside of his profligacy was his generosity. The flip side of his restlessness was his creativity. The corollary of his addictions was his drive. He was a genuine original, and for better and worse, he knew it.”
