Vinnie and Chris have a plan for the Wednesday shows that will probably take several episodes. (5:00) They will address questions specifically about exercise and creating habits that stick. There is also a plan to bundle shows and videos for availability, for a small fee. (26:00) Some good news: The New York Times reports on saturated fat, and it's positive, for the most part. (36:00) It's a fairly neutral article, but they still don't appear to advocate for meat. In general, mainstream reporting is tipping in favor of saturated fat after decades of cautioning against it. She asks the elder miss Dashwoods to join her in London. Elanor immediately refuses, saying that they need to be with their mother, but Mrs. Jennings doesn't want to hear no for an answer. Sir John also understands that Marianne would actually like to go to London, and the girls are thus forced to ask their mother for permission, and Elanor soon consents. Mrs Dashwood is very happy to let the girls go to London as she feels that they would be likely to run into Willoughby in town, and potentially Edward too. Mrs Dashwood is also excited about the possibility of redecorating the rooms of the girls and knows that it would be easier to do if the girls were away for a while. Elanor and Marianne are to travel with Mrs. Jennings in her chaise, and Sir John is very excited to have more people join them in London.SEO stuff I don't want to do. Jane Austin's timeless classic Sense and Sensibility follows the story of two girls, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, and their endeavors in love, marriage, and societal expectations. Love is not easy however, and Elinor finds her sense tested by her charming brother-in-law, while Marianne's sensibility brings her nothing but heartbreak.

This month, we explore The Self-Driven Child: The Science and Sense of Giving Your Kids More Control Over Their Lives by Ned Johnson and William Stixrud. Our hosts Paul Wirkus, MD, FAAP and Angelo Giardino, MD, FAAP, reflect on the science behind autonomy, stress, and motivation, and discuss how the book's core themes intersect with pediatric care, parenting, and adolescent development. The conversation examines how well-intentioned adult control can sometimes undermine resilience, and how supporting a child's sense of agency can improve mental health, learning, and long-term well-being. Listeners will gain practical insights into how pediatricians can reinforce these principles in conversations with families—and how clinicians themselves can think differently about success, pressure, and development in children and teens. No credit available for this episode. Introduction: The Journey BeginsRaising a child with special needs is a journey filled with unique challenges—and profound rewards. In this conversation, we explore the realities of parenting an adult child on the autism spectrum, from early diagnosis to adulthood, sharing struggles, triumphs, and lessons learned. Our daughter was diagnosed at age three. Parenting didn't follow the typical script. As a single mom, balancing life with a child in a neurodivergent world required patience, strength, and adaptability.Educating ourselves on autism helped us move from confusion to advocacy. By honoring our daughter's unique abilities, we fostered an environment where she could thrive. Now a graduate of a renowned culinary institute, our daughter inspires us daily. But parenting an adult child with autism brings new challenges—society often expects conformity rather than celebrating diversity. Our journey involves helping her find confidence in her identity while navigating life's milestones in her own way. It's about letting go while supporting her individuality.Having friends and family who truly understand makes a world of difference. Even small acts of support can have a big impact.Faith has been our anchor. We've learned to steward our daughter's life rather than control it, trusting God's timing and plan. This trust has brought freedom and peace in the midst of challenges. To parents on a similar path: stay resilient, love steadfastly, and celebrate every small victory. Progress isn't always linear, but God guides every step.We hope our story inspires other families to approach their journey with hope, faith, and love. We'd love for you to be part of our Book Club on Sarta Lyons' Church Girl starting January 8th. It's a free space to get honest, aligned, and moving. Here's what you'll get:Spot blind spots driving your patternsBreak cycles keeping you stuckBuild real strength spiritually, mentally, and physicallyAlign faith, habits, and callingLead with clarity and courageNo perfection. No pretending. Just presence, purpose, and progress—together.

Lucy is more than happy to talk about it and says that she felt like she had upset Elanor with her information. Lucy claims that as she is used to a small income, she could do without any money that Edward's mother could give him, but she knows that Edward could not. They need to wait until his mother passes away, and Lucy says that she could only wait for Edward, no other man. Lucy says that she has come up with a plan to have Elanor help her get married to Edward. She says that if Elanor were to ask her brother to let Edward go to the church in Norland, then everything would be sorted. Lucy laments that it would perhaps be better to call the whole thing off and asks Elanor's opinion of it. Elanor refuses to answer. Their conversation ends with an invitation to go to London which Elanor refuses as well.SEO stuff I don't want to do.

In this episode, Kiki and Medinah get into one of the hardest parts of adulthood: how to say uncomfortable things with love, tact, and intention. What starts as a casual conversation quickly turns into a deeper discussion about honesty, boundaries, emotional awareness, and why so many people avoid hard conversations altogether. From awkward truths like bad breath and body odor to deeper emotional feedback that can strain friendships and relationships, the ladies unpack why delivery matters just as much as truth. They talk about when honesty is helpful versus harmful, how personal experiences shape our ability to receive feedback, and why avoidance often feels easier than vulnerability. The episode also explores relationship expectations, emotional maturity, and a listener write-in that sparks a real conversation about compatibility, communication, and knowing when something just isn't aligned. Along the way, Kiki reflects on personal growth, past embarrassment, family dynamics, and learning how to pause before reacting, especially when emotions are high. This is a funny, honest, and thought-provoking episode about growth, self-awareness, and learning how to communicate without tearing people down — or disappearing when things get uncomfortable. If you've ever struggled with telling the truth, hearing the truth, or figuring out how to say the hard thing without hurting someone, this episode is for you.Go to BrooklynBedding.com and use code COCKTALESPOD FOR 30% OFF SITEWIDE!!For all promo codes and links for promotions in the episode, follow this link: https://linktr.ee/cocktalesadsContact Us!Advice: advice@cocktalespod.comCocktales: cocktales@cocktalespod.comWeird Sex: weirdsex@cocktalespod.comLive Show Sponsorship: sales@cocktalespod.comGuest Request/ General Inquiries info@cocktalespod.comGet Your Merch & Order Your Card Game Purchase Merch And Card Game at www.imcurioustoknow.comGet Klassy Baste! Ian McEwan's latest novel, “What We Can Know,” is many things at once: It's a science fiction imagining of a future world devastated by climate catastrophe; it's a literary mystery about a scholar's search for a long-lost poem; it's a deep dive into complicated marriages; and it's a meditation on how the past lingers and how history morphs with time.“It's the best thing McEwan has written in ages,” our critic Dwight Garner wrote in his review. “It's a sophisticated entertainment of a high order.”In this episode of the Book Review Book Club, the host MJ Franklin discusses “What We Can Know” with his colleagues Sarah Lyall (who profiled McEwan for the Book Review this year) and Leah Greenblatt. You can follow along, and add your own comments to the discussion here.Other Books mentioned in this discussion:“Atonement,” “Saturday,” “On Chesil Beach,” “The Comfort of Strangers,” “The Cement Garden” and “Enduring Love,” by Ian McEwan“Fleishman Is in Trouble,” by Taffy Brodesser-Akner“Fates and Furies,” by Lauren Groff“Marston Meadows: A Corona for Prue,” by John Fuller“How the Word Is Passed,” by Clint Smith“The Stranger's Child,” “The Line of Beauty” and “Our Evenings,” by Alan HollinghurstWe would love to hear your thoughts about this episode, and about the Book Review's podcast in general. Have you read Jean Meltzer yet, and are you in the mood for a holiday romance with real heart? In this special encore episode, we're bringing back our December 2021 Book Club episode (Ep. 207), featuring Jean Meltzer's The Matzah Ball (Libro.fm | Bookshop.org), her delightful debut. We loved revisiting this one: it's funny and festive, but it also has surprising depth as Meltzer thoughtfully explores chronic illness and the power (and weight) of keeping parts of yourself hidden. We also talk about the rich portrayal of Jewish traditions, the book's strong family dynamics, and the second-chance chemistry between Rachel and Jacob. If you're new to Meltzer, this is a perfect place to start, especially since she's also written another holiday romance we adore, The Eight Heartbreaks of Hanukkah (Bookshop.org | Libro.fm). We hope you enjoy this cozy throwback, and we'd love to hear what holiday reads you're loving this season!   Visit the Unabridged website for our full show notes and links to the books mentioned in the episode. Read between the theological lines of C.S. Lewis' classic masterpiece and religious satire, penned from the POV of a demon serving in the bureaucracy of Hell. Ben will explore the wildly comic and strikingly original letters from one demon to another, as the pair seek to undermine the Christian faith and tempt man into extravagantly wicked and deplorable sins. - - - Today's Sponsors: Helix - Go to https://helixsleep.com/ben for an exclusive offer. In this special episode, writer, priest and theologian Jarel Robinson-Brown reflects on the power of love in a world that so often feels fragile, unjust, and burning at the edges.Drawing on the story of his grandmother's resilience and tenderness, the radical imagination of Mary, and the embodied life of Jesus, Jarel invites us to see Christian truth not as a text but as a life — love made flesh, love that puts its body where its heart is.After Jarel's reflection, Nomad host Anna Robinson guides us into a contemplative space — a gentle invitation to sit with the stories we've heard, notice what stirs, and discern how love might ripple outward in our own lives. The whole episode is woven together with original music by Jon Bilbrough (Wilderthorn), creating a meditative soundscape to hold the journey.Books, quotes, links →The creation of Nomad's thoughtful, ad-free content is entirely funded by our equally thoughtful and wonderful listeners.
