I had the privilege of sitting down with a good friend, sister, and mentor of mine about mental health. Yamie, aka YamzbeSaying, talks about how growing up in a Haitian household influenced her mental health. This conversation is a continuation of a podcast episode we did for her platform, CanIBeHonest? Take a listen to both episodes and share your thoughts, opinions, and stories about your own mental health journey on our social media pages: CanIBeHonest and Anne,What? Let's talk about it! We look forward to hearing from you!
I’ve been gone for a while; and if I’m honest, I didn’t intend on coming back. However, when God says something that encourages you, don’t hesitate to share it with others. I’m not sure what my future looks like, but I definitely trust the One who holds it.
If I’m honest, I’m not looking forward to spending another Valentine’s Day alone...again. But I’ve learned that there are things God needs me to master before He opens up the door to love. So until I’ve mastered my single season, I’ll wait on the Lord with contentment.
I’m BACK! I believe that God is going to use everything that slayed me for my good this season. All I have to do is trust Him.
I’ve realized that my lack of gratitude has contributed to my decline in faith. I need to practice acknowledging when I’m complaining instead of expressing my gratitude to God for everything He’s done, and is currently doing. Gratefulness definitely shifts the focus off of what I don’t have and back on the things God has graciously blessed me with. What are you thankful for in the season you’re currently in?
Being a Christian requires constant growth. I’ve recognized that I’m not where I want to be, however, I’m not where I used to be. I’m not always certain of the changes occurring within me spiritually, but I trust that the Potter is working on shaping me to be exactly what He intended for me to be. There’s a lot that I’m still learning as I continue to grow in my faith. But one thing that remains constant is that God is always in everything.
God is starting to unravel some of the things I thought were true. He’s also revealing to me how I’ve gotten this whole “relationship with Christ” thing all wrong. Jesus wants to be more than a Savior to us. He wants to be our everything. However, in order for that to happen, we have to know Christ for who He is beyond the cross. After all, our lives do not end at salvation. Salvation is just the beginning.
I find that it is extremely important to recognize the people God has divinely placed in your life. Some are there to help build you, others are meant to propel your development. I believe all relationships are sent to teach us something. We just have to be able and willing to allow the lessons to develop us.
Has God ever tested you? How’d you do? This week has been extremely eye opening for me. Through my tests, God taught me a little about myself, and who I thought I was.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m judgmental. I’ve also recognized how dangerous this can be to the Kingdom of God. How can one display God’s love through condemning others? God is truly showing me the importance of loving like Him. After all, God is love.
If I’m completely honest, I don’t think I act like Christ when I am in a frustrating situation. I’ve found that it is difficult for me to remain patient under pressure. But one thing I’ve learned is that God requires that I remain true to who He’s called me to be; even in the face of difficulties.
Have you ever thought about how much God would do for you? I often times have to remind myself of just how much God actually loves me. He’s always shown that He will do whatever it takes just to get to me. Now that’s unconditional love!
If I’m honest, prayer can sometimes feel like a chore. Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand the power of prayer. But sometimes, I just don’t always see the point. One thing I’ve learned though is to see prayer as more than just talking to God; it’s a MAJOR KEY!
Do you ever struggle with hearing God’s voice? If so, I’m glad to know I’m not alone. I have found that the louder life gets, the harder it is to receive a word from God. But, it’s encouraging to know that He is always speaking. We just have to take the time to listen.
Ever look at someone else’s life and desire what they have? I think we’ve all had our fair share of not being content with what God has given us. I know I have.
I’m learning that brokenness is not the absence of God. It’s an opportunity for Him to be God. After all, He is made strong in our weaknesses.
Would you believe me if I told you I’m still struggling to read my word? Consistency is so difficult for me, and I’m trying to figure out how to sustain my consistency in God.
Does the chaos of your life and this world ever make you question God’s goodness? I know I definitely have. I sometimes wrestle with the question: How can God still be good in the bad things?
Everyone goes through difficult times. However, if we’re not careful, we’ll miss our assignment. But I still find it difficult to understand why God brings me TO some storm. Do you?
Have you ever felt like taking a “break” from your walk with Christ? If you haven’t, then you’re better than me, because I have!
I know you’re probably wondering what this is. What could I possibly have to say, right? In my very first podcast, I’d like to give you a sneak peek of what to expect on Season 1 of Anne, What? Welcome to this journey of discovery.
