Angels play an important role in Revelation. In Revelation 15, we are introduced to a new series of seven angels with seven plagues in the seven bowls of wrath. The repetition of “seven” whispers to us of completeness. These seven angels leave heaven's temple and the throne of mercy and act for God, administering justice instead of mercy.
Sunday Service (3/1/26) // Revelation 14:1-5 (ESV) // The Lamb and the 144,000 // 14 Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, 3 and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 4 It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, 5 and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.#Revelation #BookofRevelation #BibleStudy #BibleExplained #BiblicalStudies #BibleTeacher #WordOfGod #BiblicalLessons #BibleJournal #BibleReading #BibleStudyCommunity #BibleVerse #prophecy #prophetic #jerusalemWebsite: https://mbchicago.org FOLLOW US Facebook: / mbc.chicago Instagram: / mbc.chicago TikTok: / mbc.chicago Podcasts: Listen on Apple, Spotify & others TO SUPPORT USZelle to: info@mbchicago.orgWebsite: https://mbchicago.org/give Venmo: https://venmo.com/mbchurch DAF Donations: https://every.org/mbc.chicago PayPal: https://paypal.com/donate/?hosted_but...
In this episode, we kick off a brand new two-week series titled "Modern Men and Our Ancient Scripts." Join us as we explore the evolving definitions of masculinity and what it truly means to be a man in today's world. Whether you're a man of any age, a father, or someone who interacts with men in your life, this series is relevant for you. We delve into the narratives and expectations that shape our understanding of masculinity, often handed down through family, culture, and society. Through engaging stories and historical examples, including a fascinating look at Genghis Khan's definition of masculinity, we challenge the conventional scripts that have been passed down to us. We also discuss the importance of self-reflection and understanding the scripts we've been given, and how they influence our lives and relationships. As we navigate these complex topics, we emphasize the model of masculinity found in Jesus, who embodies both strength and humility. This episode sets the stage for a deeper conversation about what it means to follow Jesus and how that impacts our understanding of manhood. Tune in for an insightful discussion that invites you to reconsider the cultural constructs of masculinity and encourages you to embrace a more profound, Christ-centered definition of what it means to be a man. Topics Covered: -The definition of masculinity -Cultural and familial influences on our understanding of manhood -Historical examples of masculinity -The model of masculinity in Jesus -Self-reflection and personal growth Read along with our chosen scripture: Revelation 19:21; Luke 23:35–37; Philippians 2:8 The Main Idea: Everyone carries a script for what a man should be—most of it inherited, not chosen. This 2-week series exposes the old scripts and offers a better one. It's for men, but relevant to everyone who lives with, works with, or knows them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are an alternative to church as usual. Our Sunday worship service is approximately a 75-minute experience designed to introduce people to the message of Jesus and equip believers to live their lives in response to the Gospel while their kids enjoy one of our safe children's environments. Centerpoint is designed to meet you wherever you are on the journey whether you are just checking out the "church thing" or you are a committed Christ follower. Centerpoint is a casual environment that combines today's music with creative media and relevant teaching. Jesus Followers Should Fear, Respect, and Praise God's Power, Sovereignty, and Holiness; but in Life's Trials They Should “fear not for I {Jesus} am with you always” MESSAGE SUMMARY: You should fear, respect, and praise God's power, Sovereignty, and Holiness; but, as a Jesus Follower, you should “fear not” in life's trials and tribulations or at your time of judgment. As David's praise tells us in Psalms 103:13: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.”. David models again and again, in Psalms, how we should praise God. For example, in Psalms 146, David says: "Put not your trust in Princes; Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, Oh my soul!". When we are wondering how to praise the Lord, we can read one of David's Psalms to God like David's praises to the Lord in Psalms 112:1-2: “Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.". Also, we learn in Proverbs 1:7, the “fear of the Lord” and “wisdom” are closely linked: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.". These verses from the Old Testament point to the fear, respect, and praise that God warrants and demands from His power, sovereignty, and Holiness. On the other hand, as we see when the Apostle John quotes Jesus from Revelation 1:17-18, when Jesus, in all His power and Glory, reassures us of God's Grace and His plan for working out the Salvation and Eternal Life for all those that have accepted Jesus as their Savior: “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.'”. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, Sabbath rest is truly an unbelievable gift! Thank you that there is nothing I can do to earn your love; it comes without any strings attached. As I close my eyes for these few minutes before you, all I can say is, thank you! In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 133). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. This introduction sets the stage for a focused study of the seven letters to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 2–3), emphasizing that these are not ordinary epistles written by apostles but the direct words of Jesus Christ, given to John and recorded under divine direction as described in Revelation 1:1; the message highlights how these letters were written to real congregations in Asia Minor yet continue to function as a spiritual “litmus test” for believers today, calling the church—not buildings or institutions but people—to examine faithfulness, perseverance, repentance, and love in light of Christ's evaluation, while reminding readers of the promised blessing for those who read, hear, and obey what is written in Revelation 1:3. LESSON 67Love Created Me Like Itself.Today's idea is a complete and accurate statement of what you are. This is why you are the light of the world. This is why God appointed you as the world's savior. This is why the Son of God looks to you for his salvation. He is saved by what you are. We will make every effort today to reach this truth about you, and to realize fully, if only for a moment, that it is the truth. In the longer practice period, we will think about your reality and its wholly unchanged and unchangeable nature. We will begin by repeating this truth about you, and then spend a few minutes adding some relevant thoughts, such as:Holiness created me holy.Kindness created me kind.Helpfulness created me helpful.Perfection created me perfect.Any attribute which is in accord with God as He defines Himself is appropriate for use. We are trying today to undo your definition of God and replace it with His Own. We are also trying to emphasize that you are part of His definition of Himself. After you have gone over several such related thoughts, try to let all thoughts drop away for a brief preparatory interval, and then try to reach past all your images and preconceptions about yourself to the truth in you. If Love created you like Itself, this Self must be in you. And somewhere in your mind It is there for you to find. You may find it necessary to repeat the idea for today from time to time to replace distracting thoughts. You may also find that this is not sufficient, and that you need to continue adding other thoughts related to the truth about yourself. Yet perhaps you will succeed in going past that, and through the interval of thoughtlessness to the awareness of a blazing light in which you recognize yourself as Love created you. Be confident that you will do much today to bring that awareness nearer, whether you feel you have succeeded or not.It will be particularly helpful today to practice the idea for the day as often as you can. You need to hear the truth about yourself as frequently as possible, because your mind is so preoccupied with false self-images. Four or five times an hour, and perhaps even more, it would be most beneficial to remind yourself that Love created you like Itself. Hear the truth about yourself in this.Try to realize in the shorter practice periods that this is not your tiny, solitary voice that tells you this. This is the Voice for God, reminding you of your Father and of your Self. This is the Voice of truth, replacing everything that the ego tells you about yourself with the simple truth about the Son of God. You were created by Love like Itself.- Jesus Christ in ACIM
A Word from the Cross MESSAGE SUMMARY: In today's message, we're reminded of the profound truth that Jesus is the answer to the deepest struggles of humanity. We're called to open our eyes to the suffering around us - broken relationships, addictions, financial burdens, and physical ailments. This reflection challenges us to see beyond our own circumstances and recognize the pain in others. The central theme echoes Christ's compassion and His desire for a relationship with each of us. As His body, the church, we're entrusted with the responsibility to extend His love to those in need. This message invites us to consider: How can we be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world crying out for hope and healing? TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I now take a deep breath and stop. So often I miss your hand and gifts in my life because I am preoccupied and anxious. Grant me the power to pause each day and each week to simply rest in your arms of love. In Jesus' name, amen. On March 18, 2020, the ground literally shook in Salt Lake City, causing the trumpet to fall from the hand of the Angel Moroni. It was a physical wake-up call for a spiritual reality: our world—and our faith—will be shaken. The question isn't if the earthquake is coming, but whether your foundation is built on something that cannot be moved. Summary: In this episode, we answer the "Why" of the "Finding Faith" course, exploring the deep symbolism of earthquakes in scripture to see why this kind of "shaking" is meant to symbolize life in the last days. Drawing from Revelation 6 and the "sixth seal," we analyze the nature of spiritual instability and the divine purpose behind the "shaking." The Sixth Seal: We dive into the apocalyptic imagery of mountains moving and the heavens departing as a scroll. Who shall be able to stand when everything familiar is displaced? The Salt Lake Earthquake: We reflect on the 2020 seismic event as a metaphor for the "shaking" of our modern institutions and personal certainties. The Purpose of Shaking: Using Hebrews 12:27, we discuss how God allows the shaking to remove things that are temporary so that "those things which cannot be shaken may remain." Building on Bedrock: We learn the difference between sand and rock, and how to ensure our "spiritual architecture" is built to withstand the "spectres of the mind". Finding Power in the Night: We conclude with the hope that faith isn't just found in the light, but is forged and strengthened in the darkness of the "shake."

A blood moon peaked at 3:33 AM on the first night of Purim — while the Israel Iran war tensions are at a breaking point. This is not a coincidence. And this is NOT astrology. The March 3rd lunar eclipse landed on one of the most historically loaded dates on God's calendar — Purim — the Jewish feast commemorating Israel's miraculous deliverance from ancient Persia (modern-day Iran). At the exact same moment, 333 days remained in the year. The last time a blood moon appeared over Jerusalem. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ in 33 A.D. I'm a former astrologer. I know exactly how this deception works from the inside — and I'm breaking down what this blood moon eclipse actually means through a biblical lens, not a New Age one. In this episode: ✦ Why the red moon on Purim is impossible to ignore ✦ What 3:33 AM means and why the occult is obsessed with it ✦ Kabbalah, numerology, and why global elites move around symbolic dates ✦ The documented pattern of blood moons and Israel's history ✦ What Joel 2, Matthew 24, Luke 21 & Revelation 6 say about the last days ✦ End times signs — how to tell the difference between biblical discernment and New Age deception ✦ The mark of the beast, the rapture, and the return of Jesus Christ ✦ Why the apocalypse is not the end — it's a transition ✦ Where YOU stand with God right now This is not conspiracy theory. The heavens were placed for signs and seasons (Genesis 1:14) — "moedim" in Hebrew — appointed times on God's calendar. The end of the world as we know it isn't random. Biblical prophecy and end times prophecy have been pointing to exactly this convergence: wars, celestial signs, Israel surrounded by enemies, and a world moving toward one final authority. The question is not "What does the eclipse mean?" The question is "Where do you stand with God?" The mercy window is still open. Jesus Christ paid the debt. Anyone who repents and trusts in Him is forgiven and restored. That's the only thing that matters when the signs of the end times are this loud. .. Ways to Support the Show:

Why does the message of Jesus feel “unreasonable” to so many people—even in highly educated, modern cultures? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef unpacks a core reality from 1 Corinthians 1: the cross confronts human pride. To the natural mind, the Gospel seems impossible—God becoming man, living in humility, dying on a cross, rising again, and offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe. Yet when the Holy Spirit opens our ears of faith, what once sounded like nonsense becomes the clearest Truth we've ever known. Dr. Youssef also exposes the limits of today's information-saturated world: more wealth, more leisure, and more knowledge have not made us wise or moral—because human wisdom can't redeem, change, or give peace. At best, it covers symptoms. Only God's wisdom—revealed through Christ and His cross—has the power to save, transform, and one day make all things new (Revelation 21:5). If you've been tempted to trust cultural “wisdom,” discouraged by spiritual apathy, or hesitant to share the Gospel because others call it foolish, this devotional will re-center your heart on the only wisdom that lasts: Jesus Christ—God's power and God's wisdom. In this episode, Justin teaches verse-by-verse through Nehemiah 7 as part of a larger Nehemiah series at The Well Los Osos. Nehemiah may have not known it at the time, but he engaged with one of the most profound scientific and prophetic truths found in the Bible–the promise of exactly WHEN the Messiah would come... to the very day! Join us as Justin teaches how Daniel, Revelation, Esther, Nehemiah, and the promise of the Savior to come are all interwoven together in the most brilliant way imaginable. This message centers on the believer's search for truth and stability through God's Word, emphasizing that Scripture speaks hope, correction, and life into weary hearts, from creation's first declaration in Genesis 1:3 (“Let there be”) to the resurrection power revealed when the stone was rolled away in Matthew 28:2. It stresses the importance of understanding Scripture according to its original meaning, as taught in Nehemiah 8:8, and warns against elevating translations or traditions above the inspired original texts. The teaching references prophetic fulfillment in Psalm 22, affirms Christ's promise of preservation in Revelation 3:10, and clarifies end-times events by pointing to Jesus' words in Matthew 24:29, culminating in the victorious return of Christ proclaimed in Revelation 1:7, reminding listeners that God is the same—faithful, loving, and still making a way for His people. Send a textEver been told there are two separate judgment seats—one for the wicked and a safer one for the righteous? We challenge that comfortable split and unpack Paul's insistence that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. From there, we map a clearer path through a topic that often breeds fear: believers are not re-tried for salvation, but our works are weighed for reward. That means no condemnation, yet real accountability, and a richer vision of grace where crowns reflect Christ's life in us and become gifts we gladly lay down.We also slow down to ask what “the day” actually means. Not a rolling verdict on your week, but the Day of the Lord when Jesus returns and reveals what was built on gold and what was built on stubble. Along the way, we confront the idea of “degrees”—of reward and of torment—without turning eternity into a scoreboard. Think of the thief on the cross: almost no time to produce fruit, yet welcomed into paradise. If that is the mercy at the edge, imagine the generosity of God toward a lifetime of imperfect but faithful obedience, where perfect joy is full for everyone and still honors real faithfulness.Midway, we caution against a study habit that derails many good intentions: cross-referencing so fast that context can't breathe. We share a practical method—understand the passage on its own terms, then connect the dots—and explain why Revelation so often becomes a maze. Finally, we return to Job 20 to expose the thin logic of Zophar's charge that suffering proves guilt. Prosperity is not proof of righteousness, and history's empires—including our own—have often swollen by exploiting the poor. Scripture answers with a sobering image: the wicked swallow riches, and God makes them give them back. Divine justice is not arbitrary; it is exact. If this conversation clarified your view of judgment, reward, and hope, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves tough texts, and leave a review telling us what “the Day” calls you to build.RISE RADIOEach week we discuss some of the most important issues we face in our society today.Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showBE PROVOKED AND BE PERSUADED!

According to Proverbs 15:15 (AMPC): 'All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of circumstances].'This week we focus on guarding our hearts and minds, so that what we think, believe and ponder on remains fixed on that which lines up with the very Word of the Living God Almighty. Else we permit evil circumstances to come against us each day, regardless of our knowledge or ignorance of these principles. Worse, we question or even blame our Heavenly Father on how he could have allowed us to have such a bad day! This program covers the following Scriptures from the Amplified Classic version (AMPC): Psalm 119:89; Isaiah 40:8; Hebrews 13:8; Proverbs 15:15; Psalm 118:24; Isaiah 1:18; Revelation 3:20; Colossians 1:13; 2 Timothy 5:16; Psalm 138:22; Peter 3:9; Matthew 7:13-14; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 2 Corinthians 4:4.Support the showClick Here to Send Us Your Prayer Request.

We must face facts: Sin is an awful thing, it is in the world, and as sinners, we deserve judgment. That's what the Tribulation is … it's judgment. Only through the shed blood of Christ do we escape that judgment. God can't tolerate sin, so He pours out His wrath on it. That's what we'll witness in Scripture in Revelation 14.

"The Bible is not a book of science." We hear and read that statement a lot these days. It's true that a surgeon will not be found peering into a Bible during surgery in order to perfect a surgical technique. But there is a deceptive lie hidden in the claim that the Bible is not a book of science.Back when Ignaz Semmelweis was a doctor, one out of every six women who gave birth in his hospital died of what was called "child bed fever." Dr. Semmelweis set out to discover why this was happening. He discovered that doctors were not cleaning their hands or instruments between patients. As a result, they were spreading germs from one patient to the next. Dr. Semmelweis instituted a policy requiring clean hands and instruments for each patient, and mortality rates dropped almost to zero immediately! But Dr. Semmelweis's discovery was not new knowledge. Thousands of years earlier, God had taught the Israelites, through Moses, that whenever they came into contact with a dead or diseased person, they were "unclean." Unclean people and their clothing had to be cleansed in clear running water. They also had to sprinkle their clothing with wet hyssop branches. Today, we know that hyssop contains a powerful antibacterial and antifungal agent. So when the Bible says something that touches upon an area of science, it is still technically accurate and correct. After all, the Author of the Bible is also the Author of everything that science studies!Numbers 19:18"And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:"Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, the world declares the Bible, Your Word, out of date and then ignores it, to its own great loss. I, therefore, ask you to forgive me for Jesus' sake, for my own neglect to make Your Word more a part of my life. Help me to abandon the world's way and make the Bible a practical part of my everyday life. Amen.REF.: Thompson, Bert. Dr. Semmelweis & the Bible. Reasoning from Revelation. Jase, Al, and Zach reflect on how their unique experiences around success have given them a front-row seat to the dark side of it—the jealousy and rivalry that often go unspoken but have been damaging families since the beginning of time. Using the story of Cain and Abel, the guys explore how envy can quietly grow into bitterness, division, and even hatred. The conversation highlights the powerful contrast between Abel's blood demanding justice and the blood of Jesus offering mercy. When we met Jesus in His first coming, He shed His blood for mankind. But now He comes in judgment for those who rejected it. Revelation 14 pictures Him treading down the wicked, and it is their blood that is shed. Jesus is the Savior of the world, but He's also the Judge of all the world. In this ominous telling, we get a preview of the end.
Eight Things Christians Are Supposed to Be Doing Right Now • Sunday Service Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give 1. Returning to Our First Love, Jesus Christ Before we do anything for God, we must be with God. This hour demands intimacy, repentance, and renewed devotion, not just activity. Revelation 2:4–5 (NKJV): “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.” 2. Making Disciples, Not Just Converts The assignment has never changed. We are not called to entertain the world, but to disciple it. Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV): “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.” 3. Watching and Staying Spiritually Alert We are commanded to stay awake spiritually, discerning the times and refusing complacency. Matthew 24:42 (NKJV): “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” 4. Living Holy and Set Apart Lives Holiness is not optional. It is how we remain usable vessels in a dark world. 1 Peter 1:15–16 (NKJV): “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.'” 5. Redeeming the Time and Living Intentionally This is not the season to waste time on meaningless pursuits or endless distractions. Ephesians 5:15–17 (NKJV): “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” 6. Standing Firm in Truth Without Compromise The pressure to compromise is real, but the call to stand is stronger. 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NKJV): “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” 7. Occupying Until Jesus Returns We are not waiting passively. We are working faithfully. Luke 19:13 (NKJV): “So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.'” 8. Walking Daily by the Power of the Holy Spirit Christianity was never meant to be lived in human strength. Acts 1:8 (NKJV): “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Church, this is not a time to drift. It is a time to return, rebuild, refocus, and rise. God is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for surrendered, obedient, watchful, and faithful ones. The question is not what the world is doing right now. The question is whether the Church will do what God has clearly told us to do.
Jeremiah 21 presents a sobering scene in which the prophet faithfully delivers God's word to King Zedekiah and the leaders of Judah, exposing the hypocrisy of persecuting the true messenger while secretly knowing he speaks the truth (Jeremiah 21:1–2); despite earlier warnings from the prophets, Judah now seeks divine help as Babylon advances, yet God declares that judgment—not deliverance—is coming through war, famine, and pestilence (Jeremiah 21:4–7), echoing earlier prophetic warnings (Joel 2) and foreshadowing Jesus' end-times teaching on wars, famines, and pestilence (Matthew 24), as well as later judgments described in (Revelation); the Lord sets before the people a stark choice between the way of life and the way of death (Jeremiah 21:8–10), a pattern repeated throughout redemptive history, as Israel later asked Jesus about restoring the kingdom (Acts 1:6–7), showing that rejecting God's truth-tellers leads inevitably to judgment, while Scripture itself stands as both a historical record and a prophetic warning for every generation. In this episode of Luke21, Steve Wood explores Revelation 17 and the mysterious figure of Babylon the Great Harlot. Who is the woman riding the scarlet beast, and what is the “great city” that dominates the kings of the earth? Steve explains why Babylon represents first-century Rome, while also pointing beyond Rome to the recurring pattern of godless world empires that culminate in the final Antichrist. Drawing on Scripture, biblical history, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 675–677), this episode highlights the prophetic tension between past fulfillment and end-times reality. A clear and compelling Catholic guide to understanding Babylon, Revelation, and the Church's final trial. For more resources, visit us online at www.BibleforCatholics.com.

In this immersive bible study, Rev. Robin-Huws Barnes reminds us that worship is not passive—it requires participation. Through the heavenly vision in Revelation 4, we see that worship is vocal, expressive, and contagious; when the living creatures worship, the elders respond. In the same way, every believer's voice, posture, and engagement contributes to the spiritual atmosphere and what God releases in a gathering. The message highlights that each believer carries a grace meant for the common good, and withholding our worship or participation can limit what God desires to do among His people. Through the sacrifice of praise, obedience, service, and thanksgiving, we create an environment where God's presence and power can manifest.
There is much for followers of Jesus to endure in this life but sometimes our endurance can distract us from our love for one another. Jesus invites to return to the "love we had at first."
How does the good news of the gospel and the bad news of judgment get proclaimed on the earth during the Great Tribulation? In the beginning, people are the messengers. By the end, the times will get so intense that only angels can get God's messages to the world. We'll learn about six different angels in this chapter.
Ryan and Alex revisit the themes explored on Bledsoe Said So since the Goddess episode (episode 219), tracing the deeper narrative forming around esoteric cosmology, the reality of life after death, immortality, spiritual hierarchies, and the Way of Light.

I was writing an article last night and all of a sudden this flood of thoughts just came rushing into my brain. I never did finish that article and I ended up writing something else. You're about to hear what came flooding into my brain, because it's what's been going on in the world. We all know, look at the news. The world is like exploding. And this is the conflict in the Middle East right now, dominates the news - and the hearts of a lot of people. The world is once again, we've been here before, plunged into a season of unnerving peril and uncertainty. Not long ago, remember? I know you do, it was a mutated virus. This time it's drones and missiles and terror. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and I want to have A Word With You today about "Dangerous Times, Destiny Times." And the Apostle Paul's sober warning to his young protégé Timothy echoes across the centuries at times like these: "In the last days, perilous times will come" (2 Timothy 3:1). He went on to describe why it would be so dangerous as history's fourth quarter approaches. It's not because of weapons or wars. But because of what people will become. The description here, I'll have to say, is disturbingly familiar. He said, "People will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving... and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good." You know I can probably go on social media right now and find everything I just read about. But don't you get the feeling that there's something much bigger going on here than just global politics and converging crises? Maybe you're feeling what I'm feeling... There's something profoundly spiritual going on in our world right now. In our world, in our time! Like something climactic. I don't have words for it. Except to say - our world is increasingly starved for a Messiah. Someone who can fix what seems hopelessly broken. But we're increasingly disillusioned with all the messiahs we've tried, all the things and people we thought might be a messiah for us. And waiting at the threshold of human history - and billions of fearful hearts - there stands Jesus. Returning one day to the world that the Bible says, "crucified the Lord of glory" (1 Corinthians 2:8). But this time coming as "King of kings and Lord of lords" (Revelation 19:16). To a world described in Biblical prophecies as remarkably like our own. So my bottom line is simple: all that really matters is what will matter when Jesus comes! Now the truth is, a lot that won't matter then tends to matter too much to us. And a lot that will matter then kinda gets pushed to the margins. Now, once again, I hear Paul's voice, this time giving Timothy his marching orders. It's our word for today from the Word of God; it's in 2 Timothy 1:7-8, and chapter 4 beginning with verse 1 - "God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord... I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead... preach the Word of God... work at telling others the Good News." Man I want to see what Jesus sees when He looks at the people in my world. I want to see those "Sheep without a shepherd." "Lost." "Perishing." In Him, we have the Hope people have despaired of ever finding. We have the peace that defies the storm. We have the love that finally fills these empty hearts of ours. We have the Message that changes eternities! Friends, we have the Gospel! And with our eyes on the fourth quarter game clock, we need to be spreading that Good News as never before! Faster. Farther. Better. God has assigned us here "for such a time as this." Hard times? Yes. But it's harvest time!

Throughout church history, having a Christian imagination meant telling stories about dragons. If that sounds a bit strong, then look at your Bible. From the opening verses of Genesis to the climactic battle at the end of Revelation, dragons play an important role in the story of Scripture. So how should we as Christians place dragon stories within the Great Story? Author and podcaster Laurie Christine joins the digital pub table to sort this out. She has written a series of middle grade books called the Dragon Slayer Bible Series. She discusses the ways that the Bible's understanding of dragons can shape our stories today.
What happens to God's people during the Great Tribulation? We discover that the Shepherd who began with 144,000 sheep is the Lamb. All 144,000 are with Him—not one is lost. He redeemed them. He sealed them. He kept them. And now He's standing with them as He begins His reign from Jerusalem. And those 144,000? They enter the millennial kingdom on earth singing with the heavenly chorus.
What are the different views about signs and wonders? Do miraculous gifts still exist today? Can the Church disagree about this and still be unified? In this episode, Emma Dotter unpacks Acts 5:12-16 and explains the spectrum of convictions within the Church about the miraculous gifts (healing, tongues, prophecy), from cessationism to continuationism. Then, Executive Director of Watermark Health, Christy Chermak, joins to discuss how followers of Jesus can have a good theology of healing. // ADDITIONAL VERSES MENTIONED: 1 Corinthians 12-14; 2 Corinthians 12: 12; Hebrews 2: 3-4; 1 Corinthians 13: 8-10; Acts 2: 16-21; James 5: 14-16; 1 Corinthians 14: 1; 1 Thessalonians 5: 21; Revelation 21: 4; Romans 8: 19-24 // RELATED JOIN THE JOURNEY EPISODES: S4:265 – Acts 5-6 (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s4-265-acts-5-6/id1600151923?i=1000735373170) S4:283 – 1 Corinthians 12-16 (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s4-283-1-corinthians-12-16/id1600151923?i=1000738504112) // RESOURCES FOR FURTHER STUDY: How to remain unified when others in the Church believe differently?
