Through the many experiences and lessons in between the lines, they have translated into an athlete’s every day life. We want you to know after sports is just the beginning. Giancarlo graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Exercise Science from Ithaca College in 2016. In August of that same year, he started his own business: G-Strength. After countless “all-nighters” driving for Lyft, he eventually built up his clientele and saved up enough money to buy equipment and pay the bills. What began as Giancarlo training clients in the bedroom of his apartment, has now grown into the semi-private strength and conditioning gym you see today. Giancarlo’s pursuit of strength and conditioning began in high school. This was when he knew this was what he wanted to do the rest of his life. While pitching for the El Paso Diablos of the American Association, an independent professional baseball league, Dave Whigham was struck in the head by a line drive. The ball hit directly on his right temple. The ball had fractured Whigham’s skull and caused an epidural hematoma, which required emergency surgery. Whigham could have died that day. The sport that he had played and excelled in all his life had suddenly put him in a hospital bed fighting for his life. This was just the beginning in Dave’s courageous battle...

The former big leaguer did not throw a varsity high school pitch until his junior year. Due to a few injuries on his high school varsity team in 2008, Pat got the nod as opening day starter and never looked back. The 6’6 right handed pitcher went on to compile a 20-0 career record with a 1.52 ERA at Christian Brothers Academy. 20-0 is the best career record in Shore Conference history. This would not be the only history Light would make. Following a stellar Junior season at Monmouth University, Light was drafted 37th overall, the highest draft pick in NEC history. A kid who did not make his varsity high school team at first, went on to being the NJCBA Pitcher of the Year, named to the USA Golden Spikes Award list, and an ABCA Third Team All-American. Pat shares many experiences along his journey from a former first round pick to pursuing his passions and dreams in the business world today. Currently, Light is back in class finishing his degree as well as owning two bars (Green Rock and Saku) in Hoboken, NJ.
Avery Marz's life changed in the matter of seconds. The girl with a beautiful basketball stroke had endured one of her own as she began freshman year of college. Even through adversity, this beautiful soul has translated her passion for basketball in many aspects of her life. She reminds others we are here to enjoy the life we have and live it. Marz is one who is not afriad to dream and encourages others to reach for the stars as well.
At eight months old, Chase survived a deadly dog attack. Although this incident left Chase legally blind in his left eye, he has still punished baseballs his whole life. At 9 years old, Chase has used his adversity as a platform to help others through tough times. Chase believes by playing baseball and doing what most people said he would never do, it can motivate others to chase their dreams. It is not about how many times we fail, according to Chase, but continuing to try again.
The Mount Airy native, Jesse Biddle, was a former first round pick of his hometown Philadelphia Phillies right out of high school. Biddle shares his experiences and the lessons learned along his journey to the big leagues. Jesse's persistence is greater than any stat, as he learned much about himself through the process. Life is ultimately bigger than the back of a baseball card.
