As a man who’s chased eyeballs for a decade or so, I thought I’d give ears a go. The chats here are friendly, a little whitty, insightful and spread a bit of dirt on my life as a backyard filmmaker, early-morning writer, dad, and bearded husband who needs to leave his toothbrush in the bathroom.
Homewrecker- my Youtube film, saw me dismantle an old house to get a collection of wood before it was demolished. In this episode, Mitch and I talk about the film from an on-the ground, then post production filmmaking perspective. It's a lively conversation with the two blokes who make my simple and sometimes odd ideas into a film.Click here to watch the film.Beau on Instagram & YoutubeMitch on InstagramWhere to find Heath
I get a lot of comments on YouTube. Thousands of em. Not unlike the miniature whiteboard I hung on my door at college, folks from all walks of life from all corners of the globe let it be known that I'm a good egg, an egomaniac, or in need of (or lack of) drugs. I thought ‘what an excellent basis for a Podcast'- comment on my comments! Heretis for my latest film, Marathon My Age.
When I turned 42 I thought I'd do myself a favour and go for a clever, marathon length run. But I cocked it up. I hadn't run a marathon at all (I was 195 meters short), and I wasn't the age of a marathon. So, I waited 71 days until my 42.195th birthday and finally ran the famous distance. Beer, delicious apples and an olive tree make cameo's. Mitch and I talk about the film from a filmmaking perspective- from the garden shed we call our studio. It's a yarn with the two blokes who make a simple idea into YouTube gold.Watch the film on YouTube.
Being a big sister is a big responsibility, especially when the little brother is a bit loose. With mum as contender for being the first reader of The Backyard Adventurer, which also means she was the key typo finder for the first edition, Jade knows the book as well as I do. As siblings we talk about being writers, before moving onto some more Beau and Jade memories that are a bit fun, irrelevant, and typical of good friends that are also related. Mum was the first to read my book The Backyard Adventurer, and pulls no punches when it comes to, well, everything. She is blunt, loving, our third parent to May, and has a great intolerance for doing risky things. Mum and I share rainfall data and she's one of my best mates. Our brief chat is about the book, drunk idiots and parenthood.CLICK HERE TO GET A SIGNED COPY OF MY BOOKVoting is now closed, thanks to everyone who voted. Goodonyas!
My wife is a classic. Not like a classic car, more like a classic song from a 1980's movie that's everyone's favourite and you can't help but hum along when it comes on the radio. Warm, honest, streetsmart and funny without meaning to be, my wife's assessment of me and my book is a fine piece of poddy theatre.
