The details are scarce, but reportedly a fellow passenger on Thorton’s flight complained about him to a flight attendant, who then alerted the pilot, who then called law enforcement. Thorton’s reps have denied that he engaged in any illegal conduct and said police determined there was no wrongdoing within five minutes of talking to him. Genuine Chit-Chat is back with a new quarterly show that will be airing in 2027 – a book club featuring Mike, Tony (A.R.) Farina and “Superdummy” Paul McGuigan! Initially recorded in 2025, this episode is the “pilot” where our trio review a book originally written in 1841 by Hugh Harkin, but was found in the 90s and printed by the Ballinascreen Historical Society as The Life & Adventures Of Hudy McGuigan! Paul is related to the titular character, hence their discovery of the book. The book is written in a unique way, with plenty of phonetic language and tall-tales, many of are considered truth from the time, about the mythical Hudy McGuigan and his life in Ireland, including the unusual situations he found himself in due to his mischievous ways  - this is not a conventional book, so it makes the perfect pilot book to review! Paul & Mike discussed this book before reading on episode 266 of GCC, listen here: https://pod.fo/e/2c7535 The next book our trio will be reviewing is Tony's pick; J. D. Salinger's Catcher In The Rye from 1951, so make sure you subscribe to hear that in 2027, then either Paul or Mike will choose the next book. The fourth book will be chosen by you – the audience! So have a think and later in 2027, we'll put the call out to ask what to read and review! It's a special origin episode for John Stewart, in which we learn all about why his dad was shooting apples off his head way back in Pilot. And the answer isn't what we expected! Sure, this one halts the momentum the series had built up with the main mystery plot but this flashback is exceptionally good, nuanced and full of incredible character work and acting. So we'll look past the interruption this time but TV shows need to quit doing this. Also: we go into a ton of Green Lantern lore, proving that most of the complaints folks online have about this one are because they've never read a comic book in their life (derogatory). Before that: the one thing that could get us interested in a Robocop TV show. Chris Hansen is running scared. James Gunn may have re-upped his DC contract. We give moviegoing advice. And so much more! Steve Montague had been flying for the airline about two years when he decided to let his captain be wrong. He was paired with a captain who shut him down every time he offered anything. Asked about routing around a thunderstorm 80 miles out, the captain told him he would say when he had made a decision. Told that maintenance had been called for a burned-out light, which federal regulation required, the captain told him to ask permission next time. On their third trip together that month, descending into Albuquerque, Montague watched the airspeed sit at 300 knots below 10,000 feet, where the limit is 250. He saw it. He said nothing. The captain caught it himself. Nothing bad happened. But Montague calls it the least proud professional moment of his career, and it still bothers him decades later. What bothered him was not the chewing out. It was that he had let his pettiness exceed his professionalism. Montague is a retired American Airlines 787 captain and check airman, a former Navy F-14 pilot, and has spent years bringing crew resource management into patient safety work at more than 100 hospitals. In this episode he explains what he told every crew before every flight, why fear and futility are an incomplete list of reasons people stay quiet, and why the response to the first person who speaks up sets the price for everyone after them. Comment on this episode by going to KDramaChat.com Today, we'll be discussing Episode 4 of Hospital Playlist, starring Jo Jung-suk as Lee Ik Jun, Yoo Yeon-seok as Ahn Jeong Won, Jung Kyung-ho as Kim Jun Wan, Kim Dae-myung as Yang Seok Hyeong, and Jeon Mi-do as Chae Song Hwa. We also discuss Jo Jung Suk, the actor who plays the general surgeon Lee Ik Jun. We discuss: The songs featured during the recap: Pachelbel's Canon in D, played in rock fashion by our five doctors, and Confession Is Not Flashy by Kyuhyun, a remake of Lee Seung-hwan's 1993 ballad. The demands being placed on K-pop performers, inspired by Joanna's experience at the BTS concert, and why the physical and mental health of performers needs to come before tours, albums, and fans' expectations. Our change in how we feature music on the podcast because of licensing concerns, and our new playlist of Hospital Playlist songs that listeners can play along with during the recap. The episode's many stories about parents and children—and how those relationships can be loving and protective, but also abusive, exploitative, complicated, and heartbreaking. Dr. Bong's entertaining description of the five friends as “The Lacking Five” and what his stories reveal about Chae Song Hwa, Kim Jun Wan, Yang Seok Hyeong, Lee Ik Jun, and Ahn Jeong Won. The tragedy in Yang Seok Hyeong's family—his sister's death, his father's affair, and his mother's stroke—and how those experiences transformed his relationship with his mother and help explain the quiet, devoted man he is today. The baby born with anencephaly and Yang Seok Hyeong's decision to honor the mother's request that she not hear her baby cry, leading to a fascinating discussion about how hospitals and families handle the birth of a baby who will not survive. How the five doctors started their band in medical school, their hilarious younger hairstyles and clothes, their attempts to master Pachelbel's Canon, and our own memories of orchestras, family bands, Rock Band, and Dance Dance Revolution. Matters of the heart: Lee Ik Jun tries to play matchmaker, but it's Kim Jun Wan who appears increasingly interested in Ik Jun's sister Lee Ik Sun—and who ultimately travels to her military base claiming he just wants to eat jajangmyeon. Jo Jung Suk, the actor who plays Lee Ik Jun: his beginnings in musical theater, his breakout film role in Architecture 101, his many dramas and films, his award-winning performance in Pilot, and his journey toward becoming a singer-songwriter through A-List to Playlist. This week I'm joined by Dan Tipney, a former airline pilot who co-founded Safe Landing, a community of aviation workers and enthusiasts, working together to figure out what it might look like to have a world where aviation flourishes, in harmony with nature. This episode isn't an episode in flight shaming anyone, and absolutely doesn't have the intention of making anyone feel bad about the choices they're making. We obviously talk about the impact of flying, because coming to terms with the cold hard facts around that is a key part of Dan's story. But this episode is more about the power of story-telling and conversations, about how two things can be true at the same time, and about how learning to recognise that and sit with the discomfort that it can bring, could help us all to have better climate conversations.USEFUL LINKS: Dan Tipney on Linked In Safe Landing-              Website-              Linked In-              InstagramCharlie Cotton's post on Linked In about flight efficiencies vs flight numbersJon Richardon and The Futurenauts – The Future of Life After OilLarger UsClimate FreskEpisode 189 – Climate Fresk (and friends) with Ash GoddardCharlie GardnerAyana Elizbeth Johnson – Climate Venn Diagram Do come and join us in the Sustainable(ish) Clubhouse for September! And please do leave a rating and a review wherever you get your podcasts

In 1999, a handful of people gathered at a dusty Namibian airfield to meet two men flying weight-shift microlights around the world. One of them was Mike Blyth. Watching from the crowd was a boy who had never left the country, whose family couldn't afford much flying, and who had no real concept of where these men had come from — only that whatever they were doing, he wanted to do it too.Twenty-five years later, JP Schulze has flown around the world himself, built the first Sling High Wing off the line — designed by the same Mike Blyth — and become one of the most distinctive filmmakers in aviation. This one took a while to make happen. We finally met at Oshkosh this year, and JP is candid about being a naturally shy person who ended up with a career in front of a camera. He grew up in Namibia with no art classes and no creative outlets, thinking in German and Afrikaans, teaching himself English from the Discovery Channel at eight years old. He was taking the controls of his dad's microlight at ten. He funded his first licence by free-diving for crayfish, selling snake venom, and restringing tennis rackets. The around-the-world trip nearly didn't happen twice. Sponsors walked after a Cirrus ditched near Hawaii and the CAPS pull ran on every news channel — nobody wanted their logo on a small plane over an ocean. So JP and Louis Cole self-funded it, and JP is honest about what that cost: the fourteen-hour legs, the multi-hour shouting match somewhere between Fiji and Kiribati, and the weight of being responsible for a non-pilot's life for the first time.In this episode:Meeting Mike Blyth in 1999 — and building his airplane twenty years laterGrowing up flying "sketchy" weight-shift trikes over the African bushWhy Southern Africa has a GA scene almost nobody expectsMoving to New Zealand at seventeen and rebuilding from scratch in a third languageMeeting Louis Cole on a sand dune and having his life change in a daySigning with Discovery, then watching the money disappearWhat flying around the world actually took — and why he'd do it againInsisting on being the first to build the Sling High Wing, then helping write the manualWhy he refuses to post weekly, and what that has cost himThe sunglasses he built because a $350 pair costs $10 to makeWhy print still matters, and what we both think is at stakeWe also recorded a second conversation about the around-the-world flight itself — that one is exclusive to the magazine, with the audio released free a year after publication.Happy Flying,JustinSupport JP - otavi.co best sunglasses for pilotsPilot to Pilot Magazine — Volume 003 is out now. He describes a system where a single trusted identity point can unlock hundreds of connected apps, and where an AI agent chasing a vague instruction might decide, on its own, to read six months of email or start testing messages against real people to get results. What happens when you can't fully predict what the agent will try next, and the guardrails have to be built for that uncertainty rather than against it, is the question Zohar has built a company around. This one is for CISOs, identity and access management leads, platform engineers building with autonomous agents, and founders working in enterprise security who need to think past service accounts and static permissions.Chapters[00:00] Welcome to Shift AI, live from Black Hat 2026[00:25] Thirty years in cyber, from Check Point employee 55 to founder[01:30] Founding Dome9 and convincing the world the cloud needed securing[02:25] The identity problem that never got solved, from VPNs to modern IDPs[04:50] Building Newcore: one identity fabric for humans and agents[06:15] Why a single IDP becomes a single point of catastrophic risk[07:13] Pilot school, electronics class, and Zohar's path into Check Point[09:36] Mentoring the next generation of Israeli cyber founders[10:45] Why an AI agent isn't a service account[11:59] Inside an agent's "creative" pursuit of a goal[14:10] Human-in-the-loop as protection, not friction[16:35] The closing two words: unknown unknownConnect with Zohar AlonLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/zoharalon/Company: Newcore -https://newcore.com/Connect with Boaz AshkenazyLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boazashkenazy/Email: info@shiftai.fm
