New Money Making Conversations episodes drop daily. I want to alert you, so you don’t miss out on expert analysis and insider perspectives from my guests who provide tips that can help you uplift the community, improve your financial planning, motivation, or advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed, Dr. Sonia Lewis. Founder and CEO of The Student Loan Doctor, LLC, an award-winning company that helps individuals navigate student loan repayment and debt management. The conversation explores America's student loan crisis, the long-term impact of educational debt, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and Dr. Lewis's journey from higher education professional to nationally recognized business owner. At its core, the interview is both a discussion about the realities of student loan debt and an entrepreneurial success story about identifying a major problem and building a business around solving it. Purpose of the Interview The interview was designed to: Educate listeners about the student loan debt crisis. Explain how student debt affects long-term financial success. Highlight the unique challenges facing African American borrowers, particularly women. Introduce solutions and resources for student loan repayment. Share Dr. Lewis's entrepreneurial journey and business-building strategies. Encourage financial literacy and informed borrowing decisions. Key Takeaways 1. Student Loan Debt Is a Systemic Problem Dr. Lewis argues that the student loan crisis begins with the cost of higher education itself. Key points include: Student loans are one of the few major financial products available without traditional underwriting standards. New borrowers continuously enter the system, making loan forgiveness alone an incomplete solution. The problem is tied directly to the growing cost of college education. Higher education and student lending have become interconnected industries with few structural solutions. Bottom Line: The challenge is not just repayment. It is the broader system that continues producing new debt every semester. 2. Student Debt Impacts Major Life Decisions One of the strongest themes throughout the interview is how student debt affects adulthood. Dr. Lewis explains that borrowers often don't fully understand the consequences until they begin trying to: Buy a home Build credit Get married Start a family Launch a business Create long-term wealth Many borrowers discover that large student loan balances significantly limit financial flexibility and delay major life milestones. 3. African American Women Carry a Disproportionate Burden Dr. Lewis has dedicated much of her career to studying how student loan debt impacts African American women. She notes that: African American women earn more college degrees than many demographic groups. They often carry some of the highest student loan balances. Educational attainment does not always translate into proportional wealth building. Student debt often delays homeownership, entrepreneurship, and family financial growth. This issue became a central motivation behind her work and the creation of her company. 4. The Student Loan Doctor Was Built by Solving a Real Problem Dr. Lewis launched her business after recognizing that borrowers were not receiving adequate guidance from loan servicers. She initially: Worked a full-time job in higher education. Met clients in cafes and community spaces after work. Charged modest consultation fees. Studied federal student loan regulations extensively. Built expertise through years of financial aid and higher education experience. Eventually demand exceeded her full-time salary, allowing her to transition into entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial Lesson: Find a major problem, become an expert in solving it, and deliver consistent value. 5. Solving Problems Creates Business Opportunities A powerful business lesson from the interview is Dr. Lewis's belief that successful entrepreneurs place themselves in the middle of a significant problem. After publicly sharing that she was the first African American woman-owned student loan repayment company, her story went viral. This exposure led to: National media attention Increased public awareness Thousands of inquiries Significant business growth Her success demonstrates the value of owning a niche and becoming the go-to expert in that space. 6. Financial Literacy Starts at Home While colleges play a role in educating students about finances, Dr. Lewis believes financial literacy begins much earlier. She emphasizes: Parents should teach money management. Young adults often receive loan refunds without understanding budgeting. Many borrowers arrive at college without financial education. Borrowing decisions should be tied to future earning potential. Her View: Financial decision-making skills must be developed before students begin managing significant amounts of money. 7. Education Must Connect to Career Outcomes Another important takeaway is the need to think strategically about degrees and career paths. Dr. Lewis encourages students and families to consider: Return on investment. Career demand. Income potential. Employment opportunities. Degree marketability. She notes that many borrowers accumulate debt for degrees without fully understanding how those degrees translate into sustainable careers. 8. Teaching Builds Trust A major factor in Dr. Lewis's success has been education-based marketing. She regularly provides: Free workshops Online classes Community education events Financial literacy sessions By teaching first and selling second, she establishes credibility and trust with potential clients. Notable Quotes On the Student Loan Crisis "Unless we make it free, free 99, in the United States of America, this is a trillion-dollar problem that really doesn't have a solution." On Life After College "When you go to buy a home, they'll say, well, you already have a mortgage. We can't give you another one." On Entrepreneurship "When you are an entrepreneur, you want to put yourself in the middle of a big problem." On Her Business Growth "There was no me before. People were shying away from this conversation." On Supporting Borrowers "We get right into the solution." On Student Loan Shame "It's the thing that plays in the back of your mind when no one else is around." On Building a Business "I only want to talk about having student loans. That's my lane." On Success "God be showing up in places that I haven't made it to yet." On Leadership "You cannot be an entrepreneur, a good business owner, a good leader if you don't have discernment about people." On Personal Growth "I believe in mentorship. I believe in investing in myself." Executive Summary Dr. Sonia Lewis's interview is both a financial education discussion and an entrepreneurial masterclass. She highlights how student loan debt has become a long-term barrier to wealth creation, particularly for African American women, while providing practical insight into why borrowers struggle and how they can move forward. Equally important, she demonstrates how identifying a widespread problem, developing deep expertise, and consistently educating others can create a highly successful business. Her overarching message is that informed financial decisions, strong mentorship, continuous learning, and strategic problem-solving are essential for both personal and professional success. #STRAW #BEST #SHMS Money Making Conversations Master Class with Rushion McDonald is America's premier entrepreneurship, business leadership, financial literacy, and wealth-building podcast featuring successful entrepreneurs, executives, founders, celebrities, and industry experts sharing actionable insights for professional and financial success. Anthropic is putting invisible watermarks into text generated by new Claude models. AI data-centre hardware is becoming a lucrative target for sophisticated cargo thieves. Meta faces a potentially enormous legal threat as courts test the limits of Section 230. And one McDonald's customer discovered the company had built a 515-page behavioural profile based on his loyalty-program activity. On Hashtag Trending for Thursday, August 13, host Jim Love looks at four stories about what happens when technology starts leaving trails. Anthropic's new Claude models now embed invisible text watermarks as part of compliance with Article 50 of the European Union's AI Act. The marks can survive copying and some editing, potentially giving platforms a better way to identify AI-generated material than unreliable AI-content detectors. Wired reports that thieves are increasingly targeting valuable AI hardware, including chips, servers and data-centre equipment. The attacks can involve phishing, stolen trucking identities, forged paperwork, compromised email accounts and GPS spoofing rather than traditional roadside hijacking. Meta has been ordered by a New Mexico judge to pay $567 million into a youth mental-health fund, in addition to a previous $375 million penalty. The larger legal issue is whether plaintiffs can get around Section 230 by arguing that harmful platform design, rather than third-party content, caused the damage. Thousands of similar lawsuits are already moving through the courts. And Wired reporter Reece Rogers asked McDonald's for the information collected through its loyalty program. He received 515 pages containing years of transactions, spending predictions and behavioural profiling, then exercised his California right to request that the data be deleted. TABLE OF CONTENTS, JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW, 8-11-2-26Mary Kissel discusses North Korea's transformation into a critical military supplier for Russia's war in Ukraine, providing ballistic missiles and thousands of combat troops. This collaboration integrates Pyongyang into an "axis of tyranny" alongside Moscow, Beijing, and Tehran to challenge the West and NATO. Kissel notes that the Kim regime's involvement stems from a desire for cash, a need to demonstrate missile capabilities, and a shared goal of weakening U.S.global influence. This development highlights the long-term failure of U.S. diplomacy to prevent North Korean nuclear proliferation and serves as a warning regarding Iran. (1)Jonathan Schanzer addresses the mysterious absence of Iran's Supreme Leader and the resulting tightening grip of the IRGC on the government. The regime is characterized as sclerotic, relying on aging hardliners with "blood on their hands" to maintain power. Meanwhile, the Houthis have escalated attacks in the Red Sea, targeting Saudi infrastructure and shipping ports like Mocha and Jazan. Schanzer argues this is a strategic move by Iran to shut down trade on both sides of the Arabian Peninsula, exploiting a lack of unity between competitive regional powers like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. (2)Liz Peek analyzes the surprisingly vigorous U.S. economy, where consumer spending and small business optimism remain high despite elevated oil prices and stagnant job growth. While the Fed weighs interest rate hikes to curb inflation, a "wealth effect" from the stock market continues to buoy the economy. Politically, Peek highlights a "civil war" within the Democratic Party, where "revolutionary" candidates aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are challenging the establishment in key swing states like Michigan and Wisconsin. These far-left candidates struggle with electability among moderate voters in general elections. (3)Joseph Sternberg observes that the current midterm cycle has become an "election about nothing," with both parties failing to articulate clear policy agendas. He argues that Congress has outsourced its constitutional authority to the executive branch and regulatory agencies, losing the habit of legislating. This vacuum is being filled by "celebrity influencers" from the MAGA and DSA factions who prioritize social media attention over governing. Consequently, critical issues like Social Security reform and fiscal reality are being ignored until an inevitable crisis forces congressional action. (4)Gregory Copley evaluates the new "Mecca Joint Defense Agreement" between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, which aims to counter Iranian influence despite mutual distrust among the members. The discussion also explores the massive transformation of global trade routes, including China's "Ice Silk Road" through the Arctic and Russia's International North-South Transport Corridor. Copley notes that these routes aim to bypass vulnerable maritime choke points like the Suez Canal and the Strait of Hormuz. Finally, he provides a report on King Charles III's summer activities and public engagements in Scotland. (5)Veronique de Rugy critiques the Trump administration's shift toward "socialism on the right," evidenced by the government taking ownership stakes in private companies like Intel. Often justified by national security, these interventions mirror European state-owned enterprise models that historically burden taxpayers and distort market competition. De Rugy argues that such moves make private companies hostage to government dictates, such as labor or diversity requirements. By adopting policies championed by far-left senators like Bernie Sanders, the administration risks damaging long-term economic efficiency and creating a "state enterprise" system similar to China's. (6)Ahmad Sharawi explains that Russia has secured its military foothold in Syria through a new memorandum of understanding with the Al-Shara government. Russia will maintain access to vital maritime and aerial bases for its operations in the Mediterranean and Africa, while Syria remains dependent on Russian grain and energy. Sharawi notes that the U.S. appears to be losing diplomatic leverage by removing sanctions without obtaining counterterrorism concessions or progress in neutralizing ISIS. The new Syrian administration is successfully playing major powers against each other to maintain domestic stability and maximize international benefits. (7)Samuel Ben-Ur and Bill Roggio discuss the "Board of Peace" plan for post-war Gaza, which proposes a civilian Palestinian government overseen by international forces. A significant impasse remains: Israel refuses to withdraw until Hamas is disarmed, while Hamas has endorsed the plan, likely hoping its allies—Turkey and Qatar—will oversee the verification process. The discussion reveals that Gaza's tunnel network is more extensive than previously believed, with only 40–50% cleared after years of war. One proposed solution to prevent Hamas from regrouping is filling the remaining tunnels with cement. (8)Thaddeus McCotter analyzes the Michigan Senate race between Mike Rogers and Abdul El-Sayed, a Rhodes Scholar supported by the far-left DSA. El-Sayed's primary victory over the Democratic establishment highlights the growing influence of "woke" ideology in college towns. While El-Sayed attempts to pivot to the center for the general election, his lack of a public voting record makes his true agenda difficult to pin down. McCotter suggests the race will test whether voters will reject the "Jacobin" manifestations of cancel culture and extreme progressive policies in favor of a more traditional candidate. (9)All nine files this time, with Gregory Copley in place at (5).

If relationships built your real estate business, what are you doing today to make sure those relationships still remember you when their next move happens? In this episode of the Real Estate Excellence Podcast, Tracy Hayes sits down with Tracy Frandsen. Tracy Frandsen is a Northeast Florida real estate professional with 20 years of experience navigating booming markets, the foreclosure crisis, changing technology, and the constant evolution of the real estate industry. Her career began in 2006 in Green Cove Springs and quickly put her in the middle of one of the most challenging periods in housing history, where she worked inside a Fannie Mae brokerage managing foreclosed properties, complicated transactions, distressed homeowners, renters, repairs, valuations, and investor offers. Over the years, Tracy built a business heavily driven by repeat clients and referrals while learning that relationships alone still require consistent nurturing. She shares how working alongside her daughter in law Holly expanded the business, allowed them to combine complementary strengths, and strengthened their marketing and social media presence. Tracy also explains why brokerage support, continuous education, collaboration with other agents, neighborhood farming, staying top of mind, adaptability, and strong negotiation skills remain essential regardless of how experienced an agent becomes.   HighlightsTop of FormBottom of Form 00:00 - 05:20 Tracy Frandsen's Journey Into Real Estate Twenty years in Northeast Florida real estate Moving to Florida and working in retail Getting licensed in 2006 Discovering a love for homes and people Recognizing the long term potential of real estate 05:21 - 12:52 Surviving the Foreclosure Crisis Joining a Fannie Mae brokerage Managing dozens of foreclosed properties Working with occupied and abandoned homes Handling repairs valuations and cash for keys Learning real estate during a historic downturn 12:53 - 23:12 Training Mentorship and Bringing Holly Into the Business Why new agents need hands on support Feeling isolated without strong brokerage leadership The importance of continuous education Holly considering real estate after expecting twins Combining Tracy and Holly's complementary strengths 23:13 - 38:59 Building a Stronger Real Estate Team Creating flexibility through partnership Dividing responsibilities based on individual strengths Holly leading marketing and social media Managing the workload behind client transactions Using brokerage support to expand capacity 39:00 - 57:44 Staying Visible and Generating Repeat Business Why referrals alone are no longer enough Using technology and brokerage resources Staying consistent during busy and slow markets Neighborhood farming through targeted outreach Remaining top of mind with past clients 57:45 - 1:18:49 Collaboration Accountability and Negotiation Adjusting when buyers change their priorities Collaborating with agents inside and outside the brokerage Using accountability and education to keep growing Learning from successful agents and trusted vendors Navigating difficult negotiations and protecting client relationships   Quotes: "I love the real estate business. Scott Harold explains the U.S. and Japan are adopting a "walking quietly and carrying a big stick" approach to deter a Chinese attack on Taiwan. This strategy involves creating a "hellscape" of thousands of drones and missiles to make an amphibious assault impossibly risky for Beijing. While Japan's official documents avoid explicitly naming Taiwan to prevent escalation, its leadership views a conflict as a survival-endangering situation. China's attempts to annex portions of the Western Pacific as domestic waters pose a direct threat to the global economy. Persistent deterrence remains essential, as the Chinese military currently lacks high-end operational experience and faces leadership purges. (10)

They knew there was a serious safety concern involving pregnant women, yet Americans were still told the vaccines were safe. I expect hundreds more messages to expose what Fauci knew, what he hid and how badly the American people were misled. Fauci’s own phone could finally expose the COVID cover-up. There is a lot of noise in the PDA space right now, and some of it is making parents doubt themselves and feel more confused rather than less. So I am re-airing this episode from May 2025 because I think it will help you feel more confident in the path you are on.In this episode I share a story from a feeding support group that crystallized for me why PDA is a distinct experience, not one that can be folded into autism, ADHD, or anxiety strategies without losing something critical. I walk through two examples of content I have seen in the PDA space that would have sent me spiraling five years ago, and I close with a Buddhist concept called the near neighbor enemy that gave me the strength to say something I know is controversial.Key Takeaways The Support Group Story and What It Clarified | 00:01:39 Shortly after moving to Michigan, my husband and I organized a babysitter and drove to a support group for families of Autistic children with feeding challenges. All the other children played in another room with their special interests. One non-speaking child sat calmly with a car magazine. Others played with trains and Legos while their parents talked. I wept on the way home, because I knew with certainty there was no version of that scenario that was possible for my son. He could not have gotten in the car. If he had come, he would have needed undivided attention the entire time and any lapse would have produced a meltdown or destruction of the other children's things. The behavioral feeding therapy that had worked beautifully for these families would have produced panic attacks for mine. PDA Becoming Trendy and What That Is Costing Families | 00:10:56 As PDA awareness has grown, I have noticed content that lumps PDA strategies in with ADHD or Autism approaches and presents them as interchangeable. Two examples I have seen recently: correcting behavior an hour after a meltdown once a child is regulated, and movement breaks every few minutes to help complete homework. Both of these may work beautifully for ADHD children. But for a PDA child who is still well past their threshold of tolerance, going back an hour later to discuss the behavior will most likely push them straight back into activation. A parent trying either of these strategies with a PDA child and seeing them fail is likely to conclude they are doing it wrong, when the issue is not implementation but neurotype fit. PDA Is Not an Anxiety-Driven Need for Control | 00:16:36 When PDA gets folded into the anxiety frame, it leads to recommendations about building frustration tolerance and increasing exposure. That is often exactly the right approach for anxious children. I have panic disorder myself and have worked hard on my own exposure and frustration tolerance. But PDA is not anxiety. It is a survival drive for autonomy rooted in the way the nervous system perceives safety and threat, and it can disable access to basic needs in a way that anxiety alone typically does not. Treating them as equivalent leads families toward strategies that do not fit and away from the ones that do. The Near Neighbor Enemy: Why Sameness Undermines Compassion | 00:18:14 A concept from Buddhist practice helped me find the courage to say something I knew was controversial. A near neighbor enemy is something that resembles a value but undermines it. The near neighbor of love is control. The near neighbor of fierce compassion is sameness, the idea that calling different things the same is itself a form of compassion. When we call PDA the same as Autism, ADHD, or anxiety in the name of inclusion, we erase the specific logic, the lived experience, and the sense of belonging that PDA families need and deserve. Difference is not division. It is precision. Why This Distinction Has Brought Peace to Thousands of Families | 00:19:31 The premise of my work is that PDA is a distinct neurotype with its own nervous system logic and its own approach to accommodation. That premise, not a technique or a strategy, is what has shifted things for my family and for the thousands of families I have worked with. When a parent finally has the right logic for their child's brain, they stop blaming themselves for strategies that were never going to work. They stop doubting their observations. And they start making decisions that actually fit the situation they are in.Relevant Resources Understanding PDA — Free class where I teach the nervous system disability framework and the unique logic of the PDA nervous system that distinguishes it from autism, ADHD, and anxiety.Burnout — Free class with context for the burnout period I describe, and why strategies designed for other neurotypes can deepen rather than relieve burnout in PDA children.Paradigm Shift Program — My signature program where the distinct logic of the PDA nervous system is practiced as an embodied skill across twelve weeks, with live coaching and a community of families who share the same experience.

Retirement tax planning isn't simply about following IRS rules or minimizing what you owe this year. Jeremy Keil answers three listener questions that demonstrate why focusing on one tax return at a time can lead retirees to miss opportunities to manage their taxes over the course of retirement. Jeremy breaks down two different five-year rules that can apply to Roth IRAs, including what happens when you complete a Roth conversion after having an existing Roth IRA for years. He then explains why taking only the required minimum distribution from an inherited IRA isn't automatically the best strategy under the 10-year rule, and how qualified charitable distributions may be available from inherited IRAs for eligible account owners. 500 EPISODES!  Today is a pretty emotional day for me.  The Beliefcast has officially reached 500 episodes.   When I started this journey, I never imagined I'd have the privilege of sitting across from so many extraordinary human beings.   People who have walked through addiction, loss, trauma, illness, abuse, failure, heartbreak, and circumstances most of us could never imagine.  And yet… they found a way forward.   They found hope. They changed. They became.   And they reminded me, over and over again, that people are astonishing.   So it feels incredibly fitting that Episode 500 features Paul Cardall, an award-winning pianist and composer whose music has reached millions, but whose greatest story is the life he has built after receiving a heart transplant and a second chance at life.   That is what the Beliefcast has always been about.   Not perfect people…Remarkable people!   People who keep going.  People who choose differently.  People who discover that their circumstances don't have to determine their future.   Today I celebrate Episode 500.   But more than anything, I celebrate every person who has trusted me with their story.   And to every sponsor who has supported the Beliefcast along the way: I couldn't have done this without you.   500 episodes.  Hundreds of stories.  Thousands of conversations.   And one thing I know for sure:   People are astonishing.

Sometimes the biggest threat to cash flow isn't empty chairs, it's not believing in the value of your services. In this Fail Forward episode, Sadie Stewart shares the story of a dental practice consulting engagement that felt, at the time, like a painful professional setback. Despite improving collections, tightening systems, and supporting the team through serious cash flow challenges, one deeper issue kept holding the practice back: a generous owner dentist who wasn't ready to change the discounting habits that were undermining the business. Sadie eventually made the difficult decision to step away, only to be called back later in an entirely different role as a neutral professional during a difficult practice transition. That experience opened a new path into conflict resolution, mediation, and dental practice transitions, reminding us that failure isn't always the end of the story. Sometimes, it's the moment that redirects your career toward the work you're uniquely equipped to do.Listen in for a quick, honest reminder that the setback you're carrying may be pointing you toward your next meaningful chapter!‍‍Listen to Sadie's Other Episodes Here:Cloud, AI, and Teamwork: The Easy Way to Onboard New Practice Management Technology | Sadie Stewart | 556 – The Dental Marketer Podcast‍Host: Michael AriasJoin my newsletter: https://thedentalmarketer.lpages.co/newsletter/‍Join this podcast's Facebook Group: The Dental Marketer Society‍Love the Podcast? This is Sadie Stewart from Honolulu, Hawaii, and this is my Fail Forward story about turning a professional setback into a very meaningful growth experience in my career. I've been consulting with privately owned dental practices for about ten years, and when I think about a failure that ultimately led to growth and new opportunities, one client immediately comes to mind. At the time, I was still a relatively new consultant. I was excited and determined to help transform a practice that had been struggling with serious cash flow issues. Because I knew finances were already tight, I wanted to be respectful of my consulting fees and focus on strategies that could create the biggest impact using the team they already had. We took a very holistic approach. At first, we cleaned up patient accounts, reviewed aging reports and accounts receivable, worked through insurance claims to increase collections, improved billing systems, and implemented strategies to recover outstanding balances. We also focused on schedule management, making sure the doctor and hygiene schedules stayed as full and productive as possible. Every week, I ran reports, measured progress, adjusted strategies, and kept looking for ways to improve the practice's financial health. But every month, I noticed the same pattern. Thousands of dollars in treatment were being discounted or written off, all personally authorized by the dentist. No matter how much we improved collections or filled the schedule, we could never outpace the revenue that was walking out the door through unnecessary discounts. I realized the problem wasn't a systems problem; it was a mindset problem. The dentist had an incredibly generous heart, as most do. He genuinely wanted to help every patient and often felt uncomfortable charging the full value of the care he provided. I spent a lot of time talking with him about the psychology of dentistry. I explained that there were really two sides of owning a practice. One side is definitely caring for patients with compassion, but the other side is running a healthy business that can continue serving those patients, pay the team, invest in new technology, and keep the doors open. I also had to explain that because he was contracted with insurance companies, routinely discounting services could create compliance issues with those agreements. The staff had become discouraged. They worked incredibly hard to collect balances, improve accounts receivable, and follow our financial policies, only to have the dentist override those efforts by giving additional discounts. It created confusion and frustration, and it made it nearly impossible for the systems we had built to succeed. After several months, I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my consulting career. I realized that despite everyone's best efforts, I couldn't want success more than the practice owner did. I respectfully stepped away from the engagement because I didn't feel it was right for him to continue spending his limited cash flow on consulting services when he wasn't ready to make the changes that were necessary. About a year later, I learned that the practice had been sold. The transition was incredibly difficult. There were disagreements between the previous owner and the new owner. The entire team was let go, and the situation ultimately required professional mediation. Ironically, I was asked to come back, but not as a consultant focused on operations; I was asked to come back as a neutral professional to help mediate the situation. This experience completely changed the direction of my career. It introduced me to practice transitions, conflict resolution, and mediation. I discovered an entirely new area where I could help dental practices navigate some of the most challenging moments of their business. Looking back, I once viewed that consulting engagement as a failure because I couldn't save the practice, but today I see it completely differently. That experience taught me that success isn't always measured by changing the outcome for one client. Sometimes success is allowing a difficult experience to shape your own growth and reveal a new path that you never expected. That one practice opened the door to an entirely new chapter of my consulting career, and because of it, I've been helping more and more practices and dentists through practice transitions and some of the most significant decisions they'll ever make. Sometimes the greatest opportunity is hidden inside the very thing you didn't think would work out.

When her breakthrough moment happened, she had fewer than 1,000 Instagram followers. No viral video, no influencer status. Just a business owner who consistently showed up and shared content that resonated with her ideal Pilates client. Weird Darkness: Stories of the Paranormal, Supernatural, Legends, Lore, Mysterious, Macabre, Unsolved

Thousands have stepped off marked trails and into America's wilderness never to be seen again, and the retired lawman who spent years cataloguing them found the same strange details surfacing case after case.EPISODE BLOG PAGE (includes sources): https://weirddarkness.com/Missing411READ or DOWNLOAD the full transcript of this episode: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/34vb6kexFEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: Thousands of people have vanished without a trace from America's wilderness areas, leaving behind baffling clues that defy conventional explanation. From children who disappear within seconds while picking berries to hikers in bright clothing who seem to evaporate from marked trails, these cases share disturbing patterns that suggest something beyond ordinary misadventure. What is happening in our national parks? And what strange forces might be responsible for those who seemingly step off the face of the earth?SOURCES and RESOURCES:David Paulides' "Missing 411" Book Series (Missing 411: Western United States & Canada * Missing 411: Eastern United States * Missing 411: North America and Beyond * Missing 411: The Devil's in the Detail)https://www.canammissing.com/missing-411.htmlCanAm Missing Project Website: https://www.canammissing.comGeorge Knapp's Interview with David Paulides for Mystery Wire: https://www.mysterywire.com/ufo/david-paulides-missing-411/National Park Service Missing Persons Database: https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/foia/foia-reading-room.htmDocumentaries on Missing 411: "Missing 411" (2016), https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5864680; "Missing 411: The Hunted" (2019), https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10524262Coast to Coast AM Interviews with David Paulides: https://www.coasttocoastam.com/guest/paulides-david/49441/Mysterious Universe: https://mysteriousuniverse.org/2024/08/Don-t-Want-to-Mysteriously-Vanish-Don-t-Do-These-Things-/The Charley Project: https://charleyproject.org/National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs): https://www.namus.gov/Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Dennis_Martin,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Alfred_Beilhartz,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Jaryd_Atadero, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kecksburg_UFO_incident(Over time links may become invalid, disappear, or have different content. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: March 26, 2025Across North America, more than two thousand people have vanished in and around national parks under circumstances that resist every ordinary explanation. Former law enforcement officer David Paulides has spent years documenting these cases in his Missing 411 series, isolating the ones that can't be written off as voluntary disappearances, accidents, or animal predation — and finding that what remains follows a disturbing set of recurring patterns he calls profile points. This episode of Weird Darkness walks through those patterns one by one. It opens with the national park clusters and the failure of search and rescue dogs — trained trackers that lose the scent at a dead stop, panic, or never catch it at all — then moves to the berry-picking connection, with more than a century of cases: Lillian Carney in 1897 Maine, Alice Rachel Peck and her account of "The Black Man" who carried her, Eddie Hamilton, Wesley Piatote, Jack Pike, Simon Skogan, Gary Bailey, and the strange 1965 Kuninga family encounter in Finland. From there it examines the bright-clothing factor through the best-known cases in the catalog — Dennis Martin's 1969 vanishing in the Great Smoky Mountains, Alfred Beilhartz in Rocky Mountain National Park, and Jaryd Atadero in Colorado's Poudre Canyon — followed by the recurring role of granite boulder fields, nearby water, sudden weather, and victims who step out of sight around a bend and are gone. The episode also weighs what happens when bodies are recovered, often in previously searched areas or terrain the victim could not have reached, and lays out the range of proposed explanations — from unreported crimes and disorientation to cryptids, folklore entities, and Indigenous traditions of places where the veil between worlds runs thin — without landing on any of them. It closes with practical wilderness-safety guidance for anyone who'd rather not become a Missing 411 case themselves.

Walk through a crowded airport or packed stadium and something remarkable happens. Thousands of people weave around each other without collisions, almost as if everyone is reading everyone else's mind. Yet no one is directing traffic. So how does your brain constantly predict where complete strangers are about to move—and why does it work so well? (https://www.nature.com/articles/nature08260) Rejection stings. Whether it's being turned down for a job, ignored after asking someone out, or hearing "no" when you were hoping for "yes," most of us spend a lot of energy trying to avoid it. But what if that's exactly backward? What if deliberately seeking rejection could make you more confident, more successful, and surprisingly happier? Jia Jiang decided to test that idea by intentionally getting rejected 100 times in 100 days. What happened changed the course of his life—and it may change the way you think about rejection forever. Jia is an award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, and bestselling author. His TED Talk has been viewed more than 11 million times, and he is author of the book Easy Discipline: An Unconventional Way to Achieve Ambitious Things (https://amzn.to/4feqHOq). Every couple argues. The real challenge is to understand what those fights are actually about. The disagreement over dirty dishes, money, or who's late again is often just the surface of something much deeper. Once you understand what's really driving those recurring arguments, everything changes. Relationship therapist Kim Polinder explains why couples keep having the same fights, how to stop damaging each other in the process, and what healthy conflict really looks like. Kim has helped hundreds of thousands of people through her work online (https://www.youtube.com/@engineeringlovepodcast) and is author of Why We Fight: A Transformative Road Map to Healing Conflict in Any Relationship. (https://amzn.to/45nZ1AF). Your signature probably wasn't always a scribble. When you first learned to sign your name, you likely wrote every letter carefully and neatly. So why do almost everyone's signature eventually become an indecipherable scrawl? It turns out there's an interesting psychological reason behind that evolution—and it says more about you than you might think. https://www.wired.com/story/is-your-wobbly-illegible-touchscreen-signature-still-you/ Learn more about your ad choices.
